After confirming it, Lai Zi was so excited that his face flushed. "Auntie actually said that to you. I knew she was different from others."
“My mother is not like those aunties in the village,” Huang Xiaosan said, raising his chin. “Even though my father-in-law is so powerful, he still doesn’t dare to be disrespectful in front of my mother.”
“Brother Lai,” Huang Lao Er stood aside, not knowing what to say for a while, so he simply brought the topic back, “Let’s hurry up and clean up the yard, the sooner we clean it up, the sooner it will be clean, right?”
So, the group of people who came to apologize started tidying up the yard in the dark.
Despite their silly and foolish behavior, everyone was doing it with great enthusiasm and energy, as if they were tidying up coins rather than clutter.
Unaware that her adorable sons had sneaked out of the house in the middle of the night to clean for someone else...
The next day, just as dawn broke, Xie cried out in alarm, "Mother, something terrible has happened! My husband is missing!"
"What? My husband is missing?" Still half asleep, Jiang Nuan didn't react. She snuggled against Xiao Wu in her arms and closed her eyes again.
As soon as I closed my eyes, I remembered what Xie had just said.
"Jiaojiao's husband, isn't that my son? My son is missing?"
Realizing what was happening, Jiang Nuan quickly dressed, casually tied her hair, and went out into the yard.
"Jiaojiao, where's the second brother?" Jiang Nuan wondered. "Could he have gotten up and gone out?"
“Mother,” Xie said anxiously, “the outer half of the bed is cold; he must have been gone for a long time.”
As soon as Xie finished speaking, Wang and Jin hurriedly came out.
Without hesitation, Jin said crisply, "Mother, my husband is also missing."
“It’s the same here on my end; the head of the household isn’t here either,” Wang echoed.
"They're all gone?" Jiang Nuan murmured softly, "These brats, they probably went to grind monsters together."
"Mother, what did you say?" Jiang Nuan's voice was too soft for Xie Shi to hear clearly, so she quickly asked.
"It's alright," Jiang Nuan reassured her. "Don't worry, they should have gone out together. Go check the cowshed; they might all be there."
Thinking of her parents' obsession with the cowshed, Jiang Nuan felt that this possibility was quite high.
“I’ve seen it,” Xie explained. “There’s only Jiang Chao in the cowshed, no one else.”
"Huh?" Jiang Nuan exclaimed in surprise, "They're not in the cowshed. That's strange, where did they go?"
"Mother, could she have been kidnapped?" Xie Shi made an unreliable guess.
"How could that be?" Jiang Nuan said with a look of disgust. "If anyone's going to kidnap someone, it should be a young girl. Why would they kidnap these brats? Besides, how could it be so easy to take three away at once without making a sound?"
"What happened?" Xie Jiao pouted. "Why did they just disappear?"
After a moment of thought, Jiang Nuan said, "Don't worry, they must have left for a while. Let's make breakfast first. If they still haven't returned by the time we've finished making breakfast, we'll ask the villagers to help us look for them."
"Will this work?"
“Why not?” Jiang Nuan rolled her eyes. “They’re not seven or eight-year-old boys, they’re seven-foot-tall strong men. It’s not like anyone would dare to do anything to them.”
That makes a lot of sense.
Huang Lao Er had never disappeared in the middle of the night before, so Xie was panicked and at a loss.
Realizing what had happened, he immediately felt embarrassed.
"Mom, I'll go cook. You go back to your room and continue sleeping. I'll comb your hair after I've finished cooking."
