Chapter 87 Admitting Mistakes

Hesitantly opening the door and peeking out, Lai Zi saw a crowd blocking the entrance and immediately grinned, "Xiao Chuan, what brings you all here?"

“Brother Lai,” Old Huang said awkwardly, rubbing his hands together, then bowed deeply. “I did something wrong. I shouldn’t have distanced myself from you because of the villagers’ influence, and I even deliberately avoided you. I’ve come to apologize to you.”

“Me too,” Huang Lao Er chimed in. “You’re good to us, we should be grateful. What we did was not right.”

“Brother Lai,” Huang Xiaosan pursed his lips before speaking, “I owe you a thank you.”

“And me,” Huang Xiaosi said impatiently, “I’ll never throw stones at you again. I’ll pretend I didn’t see you climbing over Widow Qian’s wall.”

Lai Zi, who had been moved, turned bright red instantly upon hearing Huang Xiao Si's words.

After a moment, she turned slightly and said, "No, it's nothing. It's cold outside, come inside quickly."

Following Lai Zi, the brothers entered the small courtyard.

The yard was messy, with all sorts of things piled up everywhere. It was nothing like the cleanliness and tidiness of the Huang family's house. There were all kinds of clutter on the ground, and you had to walk carefully.

"The yard is a bit messy," Lai Zi explained rather awkwardly. "I've been quite busy lately and haven't had time to tidy it up. It'll be clean again after I clean it up in a while."

No one ever came to his house. The men there weren't very meticulous about their daily lives, and over time, the yard became a mess.

I didn’t think much of it before, but after bringing people over, I realized how dirty it was!

“It’s alright,” Huang said憨憨地, “We brothers have the time and we can get it sorted out overnight.”

Lai Zi's words brought a sudden sense of relief to Boss Huang, who had been feeling extremely guilty.

Apologizing isn't just about saying it, is it?

He couldn't go to town to buy things in the middle of the night, and he felt that he wasn't sincere enough.

Hearing Lai Zi say this, he immediately realized that his chance to redeem himself had come.

After understanding what his elder brother meant, Huang Xiaosan immediately chimed in, "That's right. We don't have anything to do tonight, and all the brothers are here, so we can help Brother Lai tidy up his house. Next time we come, we'll feel more comfortable."

Lai Zi originally wanted to refuse.

Although our yard is dilapidated and small, it's full of all sorts of messy things.

He's already planned it all out; he'll start cleaning tomorrow and try to get it all done within three days.

But Huang Xiaosan's last words touched his heart.

"Hey, when are you guys coming?" Lai Zi asked casually.

His casual words concealed a deep tension and anticipation.

He had long been accustomed to loneliness living alone, but still disliked it quite a bit.

It hurt me a lot when Xiaochuan distanced himself from me.

However, it's normal and reasonable for people to distance themselves from someone like me.

It was already a pleasant surprise that they came to our door tonight.

If he could come again, he didn't know if he would jump for joy.

“Come whenever you have time,” Huang Xiaosan said without thinking much of it. “Brother Lai can come to my house too. My mother mentioned you today.”

Upon hearing this, Lai Zi's heart skipped a beat, and he blurted out, "What did Auntie mention about me?"

“I know,” Huang Xiaosi answered quickly, “My mother said we shouldn’t be prejudiced against you, and we can’t deny everything about you because of prejudice.”

"Really?" Lai Zi asked excitedly, "Did Auntie really say that?"

Boss Huang felt that what Xiao Si said was wrong.

Upon careful recollection, it was discovered that every single sentence was spoken by Jiang Nuan.

Finally, under Lai Zi's tense gaze, she nodded seriously, "That's exactly what Mother said."
