Chapter 16 The Chu Family Banquet: Is Master Xiao the Chu Family's True Son?

On the very night that Xiao Wujie finished reading the trending news, he and Chu Liyue were having dinner at a luxurious and spacious dining table when Chu Liyue received a phone call from her mother, Bai Jingxuan.

Old Master Chu Yuntian was overjoyed to learn that Xiao Wujie had come to the capital, especially since Chu Liyue hadn't been back to the old house for a long time.

Grandpa Chu immediately said he would host a family banquet to reunite the whole family and also to welcome Xiao Wujie back.

Chu Liyue glanced at Xiao Wujie's haggard and sickly face, which had not yet fully recovered, and was about to refuse.

Xiao Wujie, however, reacted quickly, snatching the phone and speaking gently into the other end:

“Aunt Jing, I’m A-Jie. When is the event? My sister and I will definitely be there.”

"Oh my! My precious Wujie! That's wonderful! Let's set it for tomorrow night. Aunt Jing will be waiting for you at the old house!"

Bai Jingxuan sounded much more excited on the phone; you could feel her joy and happiness even through the phone.

After hanging up the phone, Chu Liyue couldn't bear to blame him. She simply frowned slightly and looked at him softly, saying:

"Your body hasn't recovered yet, you shouldn't be doing these things."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Wujie smiled and said seriously:

“I didn’t inform Grandpa Chu and Aunt Jing about my trip to the capital. Now that they know, I should definitely go over there.”

Chu Liyue was about to say something when Xiao Wujie interrupted her in time.

He moved his face closer to Chu Liyue, raising an eyebrow and giving a wicked smile:

"I'd also really like to see what kind of expressions Chu Feihong and Chu Yichen would have."

Chu Liyue was amused by his unusually irritating appearance, and after hearing what he said, she didn't say anything more.

She simply patted his head affectionately, which was her way of saying yes.

Oh well, let him be happy!

Under her watchful eye, she wouldn't let him lose a single penny.

The following afternoon

As the sun sets, the sky is tinged with a gentle orange-red hue, and golden light bathes the earth.

The luxurious yet understated car smoothly drove into the Chu family mansion and stopped not far from the main residence. The driver got out first and respectfully opened the rear door.

Chu Liyue stepped gracefully out of the car, wearing a pair of silver high heels and long, slender legs clad in black stockings.

She wore a silk blouse with floral sleeves, the top two buttons undone, revealing a large expanse of alluring white skin and exquisite collarbones. A fiery red pencil skirt further accentuated her snow-white skin and alluring curves.

Her serene and deep eyes slightly lifted, casting a cool gaze into the car. A subtle smile graced her exquisite face, and she exuded the charm of a mature woman.

An indescribable beauty!

She reached out her slender, long hand and took the hand of another fair and beautiful hand that was reaching out from inside the car.

In the soft light, accompanied by a soft cough, Xiao Wujie, dressed in a burgundy suit, was led out of the car by her.

His burgundy suit was impeccably tailored, its color like a fine vintage wine—deep yet warm—perfectly complementing his fair complexion and handsome features.

The collar is clean and crisp, and the silver cufflinks are subtly revealed at the cuffs, showcasing exceptional taste.

His eyes were equally deep, as if they held countless stories.

A faint smile played at the corners of his lips, revealing an air of composure.

Her short, jet-black hair was styled into a neat side part, which, combined with her gleaming silver-rimmed glasses, added to her mature charm.

The sunset is a scene as beautiful as a poem or a painting.

The appearance of the two added a vibrant touch to the otherwise tranquil scene.

This breathtaking scene left almost everyone speechless.

Everyone couldn't help but sigh in their hearts:

What an absolutely stunning painting!

What a perfect couple!

In front of the main house, Chu Mingcheng and his wife were already standing there, having waited for an unknown amount of time.

They are all over fifty years old, but time has not left any marks on their faces.

Chu Mingcheng was tall and robust, with a dignified appearance. His black hair was neatly combed back, and his dignified face was free of wrinkles.

Bai Jingxuan is tall and curvaceous, with long, wavy hair casually draped over her shoulders. Her small face, which bears a resemblance to Chu Liyue, is adorned with exquisite makeup, and she wears a fiery red dress with bright red lips.

No one would guess that she is a woman over fifty; she looks more like a charming young woman.

Chu Liyue led Xiao Wujie forward unhurriedly, called out "Mom and Dad" in a cool and aloof tone, and then said nothing more.

Chu Mingcheng and Bai Jingxuan seemed to be used to it, and nodded with a slight smile. Then they turned their gaze to Xiao Wujie, who was being led by Chu Liyue.

They had met Xiao Wujie, though not many times, but they had contacted him frequently by phone to express their concern.

They were genuinely grateful to and admired Xiao Wujie.

If it weren't for Xiao Wujie, who was suffering from illness every day, their daughter would be the one on the verge of death.

Without Xiao Wujie's strong support, Chu Liyue's path would have been even more difficult.

When they met again, the once naive boy had quietly transformed into a brilliant young man, leaving them with a mix of emotions.

Meeting their gazes, Xiao Wujie respectfully greeted them as "Uncle Chu" and "Aunt Jing".

Bai Jingxuan, needless to say, immediately came to her senses upon hearing this, pulled Xiao Wujie into her arms, her face full of joy and tenderness.

"My precious Wujie, are you settling into life in the capital?"

"I heard from Liyue that you were sick. Are you feeling better?"

"Hurry up and come inside with Aunt Jing, it's cold outside."

His incessant chatter and endless questions made one wonder if Xiao Wujie was actually the biological son.

Even the usually dignified Chu Mingcheng forced a relatively kind smile and patted Xiao Wujie's shoulder lightly.

Xiao Wujie was thus escorted into the magnificent main house.

On the luxurious leather sofa, Old Master Chu Yuntian had been sitting there waiting for quite some time.

Old Master Chu was a soldier in his early years, but later returned home to inherit the family business and retired from the military.

Even though he is now nearly eighty years old, he still appears energetic and vigorous, showing no signs of aging.

Upon seeing Xiao Wujie, he immediately pulled him to his side and greeted him warmly, his wrinkled old face beaming with joy.

Thus, this strange scene unfolded in the luxurious hall:

Chu Liyue, the legitimate and upright eldest daughter of the Chu family, sat with her long, black-stockinged legs crossed, exuding a powerful aura that kept strangers at bay.

Xiao Wujie, who was picked up by Miss Chu on the way, was sandwiched between Old Master Chu and Bai Jingxuan, who fussed over him and asked him all sorts of questions.

Xiao Wujie also performed exceptionally well, responding to every question they asked.

Her small mouth was as sweet as honey, and she would say things that pleased people from time to time, making the two of them laugh heartily, creating a scene of great joy.

The tall and imposing Chu Mingcheng stood far away, unable to squeeze in from either side, his face blank.

Finally, he quietly found a seat and sat down without saying a word.
