Chapter 357 Arrival in Lingnan

On the plane.

Chu Liyue took off her suit jacket and covered Xiao Wujie's legs with it.

She let Xiao Wujie hold her arm and rest his head on her shoulder.

She reached for the steaming glass of water on the table, tested the temperature with her lips, blew on it, and then brought it to Xiao Wujie's lips.

"Sweetie, have some water."

He hasn't had a drop of water since he got up this morning, and after kissing her for a long time, his lips are visibly dry and peeling.

Xiao Wujie took a few sips from her hand, then shook his head and refused to drink anymore.

Seeing that his lips had regained some moisture, Chu Liyue didn't press the matter further. She gently stroked the back of his head with her palm and asked softly:

Are you sleepy?

"There's a bed here. If you're sleepy, I'll hold you and let you sleep for a while."

"It takes three or four hours to get from the capital to Lingnan, enough time for you to get some sleep."

Across from him, Xiao Qianshan watched this scene with a slightly complicated expression.

He truly hadn't expected that Chu Liyue, such a young lady from a wealthy family, would be so caring. Although she had a cold and aloof demeanor, her thoughtfulness towards Xiao Wujie permeated every detail.

No wonder Xiao Wujie, despite his extraordinary abilities, was willing to hide his talents, be obedient and compliant, and rely on her in every way.

Xiao Wujie's eyes flickered slightly upon hearing Chu Liyue's words, and he shook his head.

He's been very sleepy lately, and he cherishes the time he spends awake with her.

Chu Liyue always went along with his wishes. Seeing him shake his head, she took his hand and gently kneaded and played with it.

"Then don't sleep. Talk to your sister when you're sleepy."

Xiao Wujie snuggled closer to her, and she held and played with his hand. He deliberately straightened his fingers so that she could play more comfortably, and she was very obedient.

Chu Liyue looked down at him and, as a reward, planted a kiss on his forehead.

Without a word, a sweet and cloying atmosphere permeated the air; even though nothing was done, it seemed as if pink bubbles were floating everywhere.

Even Old He, who was standing guard by Xiao Qianshan's side, felt as if he were drinking honey, so sweet it made his teeth ache.

A look of reminiscence crossed his eyes, recalling those days...

Everyone has been young before.

Finally, Xiao Qianshan broke the silence, forcing a smile onto his cold and stern face, trying his best to appear more approachable:

"Little one, is this your first time going to Lingnan?"

When Lao He heard him ask this question, he quickly covered his mouth and almost burst out laughing.

Their master was dignified and imposing throughout his life, and the young servants in the family were terrified of him. Xiao Qianshan also ignored them and had never seen him take the initiative to speak to the younger generation.

To welcome his grandson back, he swallowed his pride and put on the act of a kind grandfather.

The key point is that this question was asked in a rather tactless way; it's a typical example of making conversation for the sake of it.

He could already foresee how the conversation would proceed. If Xiao Wujie answered yes, he would take the initiative to introduce the local customs and culture of Lingnan. If Xiao Wujie answered no, he would ask him what his impression of Lingnan was.

Sure enough, after Xiao Wujie nodded, Xiao Qianshan said:

"Do you know anything about the customs and culture of Lingnan?"

Old He turned his face to the side, forcing himself not to laugh out loud. Xiao Qianshan glanced indifferently at the reflective glass, his tone chilling:

"Old He, I think you understand Lingnan better than I do."

"Why don't you try explaining it to the little one?"

Old He felt a chill run down his spine, and when he turned around, his face was serious.

I silently repeated to myself a thousand times, "Just give it a try."

But when it comes to actually speaking, they know all too well that it's a "try and you'll die" situation:

“Master, as you know, my memory isn’t very good. I can’t remember the local customs and traditions of Lingnan. You should tell me.”

Xiao Qianshan withdrew his gaze indifferently. This old man really thinks he can fly if he's not disciplined for a few days.

Xiao Wujie could see that Xiao Qianshan was deliberately trying to make conversation. Although he was somewhat puzzled by his enthusiasm, he couldn't bear to embarrass him.

He thought for a moment, then asked with a smile, "Grandpa Xiao, I've heard that people in Lingnan dress very casually, and they prefer vests, shorts, and flip-flops. Is that true?"

Xiao Qianshan was pleased with his considerate reply, but deep down he felt awkward being addressed as "Grandpa Xiao". When would he be able to drop the surname?

He sighed inwardly, but then turned his gaze to Old He, whose face was strained, and pointed:

"This old man is the most qualified to speak on this; as long as he doesn't go out, he wears the same clothes."

Hearing Xiao Qianshan mention him and his classic style that he had maintained for most of his life, he was clearly excited. He almost blurted out "Young Master," but fortunately he stopped himself in time.

Without leaving a trace, he changed his tune: "Young friend, let me tell you, the main thing about us Lingnan people is to dress casually."

His gaze swept over Xiao Wujie's attire, his eyes showing disdain: "Look at what you're wearing, it's troublesome and expensive."

"When you get to Lingnan, you can buy a three-piece suit for a few dozen yuan and then spend the money on morning tea and desserts. That's real enjoyment."

"Grandpa is telling you, clothes are for others to see, but food is what truly belongs to you."

Before he could finish speaking, he felt a chill run down his spine. Turning around, he saw Xiao Qianshan's gaze, sharp as a knife, piercing him inch by inch.

grandfather?

Whose grandfather are you?

He hadn't even been properly addressed as the grandfather yet, but this burly old man had already beaten him to it?

Xiao Qianshan's almost knife-like gaze was like a bucket of cold water poured over Lao He's head, chilling him to the bone.

He thought to himself, "It's over," and his excitement visibly faded. After a light cough, he became as docile as a quail and didn't say another word.

Xiao Wujie's eyes flickered slightly as he observed their interaction.

Chu Liyue felt sorry for him and didn't want to tell him many things, not wanting him to worry, but that didn't mean he wasn't aware of it.

At that moment, I suddenly felt a sense of emptiness behind me.

Old Lu, you big idiot, where did you go?

You'd better get back here right now, or I'll beat you up when you come back!

The three-hour journey was spent in this fairly cheerful atmosphere.

As the plane cuts through the clouds, looking down through the porthole, the towering mountains stretch out like scales on the spine of the earth, undulating endlessly.

The mountains are shrouded in mist, which gently envelops the peaks. The river, like a silver ribbon, meanders among the mountains, as wide as a mirror, reflecting the sky and the scenery on both banks.

A unique landscape that is both majestic and delicate, grand yet gentle.

Lingnan is already beneath our feet.
