Chu Liyue held his hand, her delicate high heels tapping rhythmically on the ground, the sound conveying joy.
Xiao Wujie gently scratched her warm palm with his little finger like a cat scratching an itch. He could tell that his sister also liked to show affection for him in public.
At home and at work, I'm starting to think about going on a dating reality show with my sister.
In the office, the air conditioning was set very high. Chu Liyue was working at her desk, while Xiao Wujie sat on her lap, occasionally fiddling with her long hair and buttons. In between her changing documents, he would lean over and kiss her a few times.
As the setting sun bathed the French windows in an orange-yellow hue, Chu Liyue capped her pen and, looking down, the light outlined the exquisite, flowing curves of her face.
Xiao Wujie got up early and was sleeping soundly with his head on her lap. Chu Liyue admired his handsome and flawless face for a while, then gently pinched the tip of his upturned nose with a smile in her eyes.
Soon, Xiao Wujie let out a muffled groan of dissatisfaction, his eyes filled with grievance as he opened them.
Chu Liyue's eyes held a mixture of doting affection and helplessness. "Sleeping Beauty, look at the time. It's time to go home."
Xiao Wujie got up, lay on top of her, and buried his face in her shoulder to relieve his drowsy feeling.
Chu Liyue didn't rush him, but gently patted his back with her palm, enjoying the relaxing time together.
After a moment, Xiao Wujie looked up at her, his eyes flashing with an unreadable light, and asked, "Sister, what time is it?"
It's almost five o'clock.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Wujie shifted his body, almost sitting on Chu Liyue's waist, hooking his arms around her neck, his gaze intense, his cheeks slightly flushed, and he licked his dry lips.
"That's enough for my sister and me to play an office game once more~"
Chu Liyue pursed her red lips, then looked up and kissed his thin lips...
*
Lunar New Year's Eve.
The sky is clear and the air is fresh; everything is new and new.
The most important traditional festivals in China are the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Spring Festival.
During the two major solar terms, Xiao Wujie and Chu Liyue would randomly go to Lingnan for one term each year and stay in the capital for the other.
I went to Lingnan for the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, and stayed in Beijing for the Spring Festival.
The arrangements for the Spring Festival were also quite unique. On New Year's Eve, everyone stayed at the manor, and on the first day of the Lunar New Year, they returned to the old house to pay respects to their elders.
The manor was bustling with activity from early morning.
"Old Lu, move to the left." Lu Zhufeng hung up the lantern, while Yun Mo directed from below.
"Let's move a little to the right," Leng Ruxue said, stroking her chin.
Lu Zhufeng, standing on a stool, turned around and roared, "It's the New Year, I want to be civilized, you two, speak like human beings!"
"Alright, Xue, Yunmo, you two go inside and check on Yifei for a while. I'll help Brother Lu." Chu Nanfeng's gentle voice came from inside the door.
Holding the curious Chu Yifei with his eyes darting around, he carefully placed the child in Leng Ruxue's arms.
Leng Ruxue, supporting Chu Yifei's bottom, walked towards the main house while pointing at the irritable Lu Zhufeng:
"Remember, that's a creepy uncle you should stay away from."
Lu Zhufeng's forehead veins throbbed as he tried his best to maintain his composure during the New Year holiday.
Leng Ruxue carried the child into the main house, where festive red ribbons were hung everywhere.
On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, Chu Liyue dismissed all the servants and cooks in the manor, and everyone did the decorating and cooking themselves.
At the restaurant, Ai Ruoman and Chu Wan were making dumplings. When Ai Ruoman saw the two of them come in, she quickly greeted them:
"Yunmo, Xiaoxue, come and lend a hand."
Yunmo washed her hands and naturally sat down next to Chuwan. Her small hands were nimble, and she made small and well-shaped dumplings.
Leng Ruxue put down Chu Yifei, who could already walk, from her arms. With so many people in the manor, she wasn't worried about him getting lost: "Baby, play by yourself for a while."
Chu Yifei hadn't been to the manor many times and was full of curiosity about everything here. Knowing that this was his aunt's territory, he didn't dare to cause trouble and was unusually obedient.
He staggered slightly, looking around as he jogged, but when he reached the stairwell, he stumbled and fell onto the wooden floor.
The child's face scrunched up, his lips pursed, and he was about to cry when suddenly, a slender and aloof figure came into view.
His eyes, already brimming with tears, blinked twice, his little mouth pouting, swallowing back his tears and sobs.
It was simply because the person who came was Chu Liyue.
Chu Liyue wore a red women's suit, her red dress as bright as frost covering the forest, her aloofness and coldness exuding the air of an empress.
She glanced at Chu Yifei indifferently, then lifted her leg to walk forward. Chu Yifei, his eyes filled with the clear surprise of a young cub, cried out in surprise, "Ah!" He couldn't get up.
Chu Liyue paused, bent down, grabbed him by the back of his collar, and lifted him up like a chick.
Ignoring him, she strode toward Xiao Wujie.
Xiao Wujie was also wearing a red suit, the same one he wore before coming to the capital and when he met Chu Liyue. It made his red lips and white teeth, and his skin look radiant, like a handsome young man who had stepped out of a painting.
He was holding a calligraphy brush, looking at sheets of red paper in front of him, and writing couplets.
Beside him, Lin Qingyi helped him grind ink, gazing at the elegant and graceful handwriting and the extraordinary couplets on the red paper with admiration in her eyes.
Seeing Chu Liyue walking gracefully towards him, Xiao Wujie quickly put down his brush and nestled close to her.
Chu Liyue gently scratched his chin twice with her long fingers, then put her arm around his waist and asked softly, "Have you finished writing?"
Xiao Wujie nodded and led her to the table, "Sister, take a look."
There were quite a few couplets written on the table, with three spread out in the middle. Xiao Wujie held Chu Liyue's arm and gently shook it twice:
"These three are the ones that Sister Qingyi and I felt were the best. Sister, please take a look and see which one you like the most."
"Have Lao Lu put it on."
Chu Liyue stared intently at the table.
The first piece is clearly in Xiao Wujie's handwriting, elegant and unrestrained, possessing its own unique charm; the couplet reads:
