Outside the cave, it was a world of ice and snow.
Inside the cave, it was warm and cozy.
Lu Zhufeng's grilled fish was soon freshly baked. As he took out new dried fish, he enthusiastically distributed the finished product to everyone.
"Old Lu, you're really good! This is excellent craftsmanship!"
After taking a bite of the fragrant grilled fish, Yunmo chuckled at Lu Zhufeng.
"Do you even need to tell me? Besides, I'm on friendly terms with your teacher, shouldn't you call me 'Uncle-Master'?"
Lu Zhufeng was trying to liven up the atmosphere in a nonsensical way.
"Get lost, let's each talk our own thing!"
Yunmo couldn't help but roll her eyes and retort.
"He was once a top soldier, so his wilderness survival skills are naturally excellent."
Xiao Wujie, who was eating grilled fish from Chu Liyue's hand, also teased softly.
"Oh my god! Little Yunmo, did you hear that? Even your aloof and ethereal teacher is praising me, your martial uncle!"
"Your martial uncle is a king of soldiers, he's not just joking with you."
Lu Zhufeng, who lived under Xiao Wujie's suppression every day, was so excited when he heard Xiao Wujie praise him for the first time that his face turned red and the veins on his forehead bulged. He shouted at Yun Mo.
Yunmo glared at him speechlessly, then ignored his barking and got up to rummage through her supplies bag for some seasonings.
As the seasonings were sprinkled onto the grilled fish, an even more enticing aroma wafted from the fish in his hands.
Suddenly, everyone felt that the grilled fish in their hands didn't smell so good anymore, and their eyes kept glancing at the seasonings in his hand.
He happily took a couple of bites of grilled fish before belatedly realizing the stares of the crowd.
Especially when he saw a hint of something different in Chu Wan's usually calm gaze, his face instantly flushed, and his small hands trembled slightly as he handed the condiments to Chu Wan.
"This... do you want it, sister?"
Chu Wan's beautiful eyes flickered slightly upon hearing this, and then, under Yun Mo's uneasy gaze, she took the seasoning from his hand.
After a moment, he uttered two words expressionlessly:
"Thanks."
Yunmo nodded, flattered, her face turning completely red.
"Little thief, how old are you? You can't call me that like that!"
Seeing this, Leng Ruxue's eyes flashed with a sly light, and her voice was teasing.
Yunmo has the face of an eleven or twelve-year-old, but his voice is deep and powerful, clearly inconsistent with his real age.
"Who's the thief? Nineteen! You're older than me!"
No longer shy in front of Chu Wan, Yun Mo retorted sharply.
"Oh, I thought it was just a kid who hadn't even grown all his feathers yet!"
Seeing that Yun Mo was about to explode, Leng Ruxue smiled and immediately changed the subject.
"So, you're older than your teacher?"
She clearly remembered that Xiao Wujie was only seventeen years old, while Yun Mo, who was older than him, addressed him as "teacher" and treated him with the same respect a son would show to his father.
"Age is just a shackle of time. The meaning of a teacher to me is different from that of others. Our relationship is not limited by age."
Upon hearing Xiao Wujie's name, Yun Mo immediately became serious, his eyes slightly raised, and his voice firm and earnest.
Although he was older than Xiao Wujie, in a sense, it was Xiao Wujie who gave him a new life and raised him.
When he was ten years old, he was a homeless man on the streets. He was almost beaten to death over a steamed bun, but Xiao Wujie picked him up and saved his life.
Because of the severe trauma he suffered, his height and appearance remained permanently at the age of eleven or twelve, making him an anomaly in the eyes of the world.
It was Xiao Wujie who taught him extraordinary skills, giving him the ability to survive in this chaotic world.
To him, Xiao Wujie was like a brother and a father. No matter how much older he was than Xiao Wujie, his place in his heart would never change.
Hearing his firm and powerful words, everyone fell silent for a moment, and their gazes toward him and Xiao Wujie softened.
Leng Ruxue glanced at Xiao Wujie, who was playing a sweet feeding game with Chu Liyue, with a strange look in her eyes.
She was initially really puzzled as to why her talented and beautiful eldest daughter would fall for Xiao Wujie, a sickly man who seemed to have no other merits besides his good looks.
After several encounters, she found it difficult to judge this handsome but sickly man with the same eyes she had at the beginning. Unpredictable, ruthless, and unfathomable were the most direct impressions Xiao Wujie gave her.
But today she felt as if she had seen another side of him. How could a ruthless and heartless person make his boss, Lu Zhufeng, and Yun Mo, these extraordinary people, willingly revolve around him?
Beneath his cunning and ruthless exterior, there must be a side of him that no one knows about.
Looking at Xiao Wujie's exceptionally handsome and gentle face illuminated by the firelight, she was truly curious about what kind of interesting and profound soul resided in such a young and handsome body.
Eating the grilled fish handed to them by Lu Zhufeng, and taking turns sprinkling on the seasonings that Yunmo had prepared, they sat around the warm and bright fire, each with a smile on their face, chatting and laughing, which was quite heartwarming.
Just when everyone thought this warm atmosphere would continue, two faint lights suddenly appeared in the darkness deep inside the cave.
The next moment, a faint sound of ice cracking was heard, the eerie light flickered slightly, and a huge black shadow appeared.
Almost instinctively, everyone tensed up, instantly putting down their grilled fish and reaching for the guns and weapons at their waists.
His gaze drifted into the depths of darkness, a faint glint flashing in Xiao Wujie's eyes. He chuckled and waved his hand.
"Don't be afraid, he's a fun guy."
Hearing his words, everyone relaxed slightly, but their eyes remained fixed on the shadow in the darkness.
As the eerie light drew closer, the sound of ice cracking grew clearer, and the darkness was gradually broken by a massive, slowly moving body.
