"Really?" I stammered, barely able to believe it. Had my long-cherished dream suddenly come true? What day is it today? April Fool's Day?
"Mm." You nodded, quietly watching me and waiting for my reply.
"Then?" I bit my lip. "Where are we going?"
You chuckled and pulled me into her arms, whispering above my head, "Don't you like the human world? We can go and play there for decades. When you get tired of it, we'll find a place you like, build a house, and stay together every day, never apart. If you like to eat, I'll cook for you. And maybe in the future, we'll have a few little versions of ourselves to keep us company."
As I listened to You's idea, I couldn't help but swallow hard. It was practically my dream. Just thinking about how You and I might have children in the future made my face flush.
"Oh right, we can also go to the Abyss. I want to go see the Abyss too," I suddenly added, thinking of the Abyss.
"Whatever you say, anywhere is fine with me."
"Then?" Before I could finish speaking, You got up and tried to pull me up, saying, "Let's go now."
For some reason, You suddenly seemed quite impatient to leave the Heavenly Court.
"Wait," I said, pulling You back. "Not now."
"Why?" You turned around, her dark eyes fixed on me, not missing a single emotion on my face.
Is it just the two of us?
"Who else do you want to bring?" You's tone was indifferent, but I sensed a hint of unhappiness in her voice.
"Where's Feng Su? Isn't she with us?" I thought of Feng Su. If I suddenly disappeared, Feng Su would probably go crazy and would probably keep waiting for me and looking for me.
You shook her head. "I only want to be with you."
When I heard that You only wanted to be with me, I was very happy. But this won't do; I can't just leave like that. At least... at least we should say goodbye.
"What's wrong? Don't you want to be with me?" You let go of my hand and chuckled softly, a sound that seemed somewhat lonely in the quiet, large room. "Heh, were you lying to me before?" You laughed again, then seemed to whisper, "What am I expecting?"
“No.” I grasped You’s hand, which she had just let go of. “Of course I want to leave this place with you. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of.” I slowly lowered my head. “It’s just that we can’t leave without saying goodbye.”
“If we’re going to leave here forever, at least let me say goodbye to Feng Su and Luo. Oh, and there’s also the matter of the Heavenly Court. We can go to Taihui Palace together tomorrow and let Luo take over in front of all the immortals. Once we’ve done all that, we’ll leave together and never come back. We’ll never have to deal with these messy affairs again. Gods, demons, monsters—they have nothing to do with us.”
You gripped my hand slightly tighter. "Do you really think that way?"
"Yes." I nodded seriously.
"Okay." You looked at me and smiled, a smile that was not as cold as before, but warm like spring flowers that could melt ice.
"Alright, let's get some rest. We'll be busy tomorrow." With that, I pulled You and me to lie down on the bed together.
I hugged You tightly and rested my head on her chest. My heart was still pounding wildly. I couldn't believe that tomorrow, You and I could leave this place of trouble in the Heavenly Court.
I will never have to worry about dying in a secret rendezvous again.
