In the middle of the night, I suddenly felt as if someone had been standing by my bed. I opened my eyes abruptly, but the room was dim and I couldn't see clearly.

I vaguely sensed someone was near the left side of the door. I squinted and looked closely, and sure enough, I saw a figure. I was so scared that I screamed loudly.

"Your Majesty, don't call out! It's me, Zifeng." Zifeng's familiar voice came, which eased my tense heart a little. But what did Zifeng want to do by coming to my room in the middle of the night?

"Your Majesty, what's wrong?" Hu Ma's voice suddenly rang out from outside the door.

"Don't tell them," Zi Teng's voice came softly, and through the blur, I seemed to see Zi Teng's hands waving frantically.

"Oh, it's nothing!" I shouted. "I just had a nightmare that scared me."

"Oh, I see." Hu Ma stopped knocking. "If the Empress has any questions, please call us anytime."

"Okay, don't worry. I'm going back to sleep," I shouted again.

I listened intently to the sounds outside the door, and even after everything was quiet, I still didn't dare to speak rashly.

After about half an hour, I finally spoke in a low voice, "Wisteria, what are you doing in my room in the middle of the night?"

"Thump." I seemed to hear the sound of Zi Teng kneeling down. I looked at the blurry figure again, and the figure that had been standing straight just now was now curled up on the ground.

"What are you doing?" I was completely baffled by Wisteria's strange behavior in the middle of the night, and had no idea what Wisteria was trying to do.

"Your Majesty, I beg you." Zi Teng's voice was soft, but it contained sorrow and helplessness. Although I couldn't see Zi Teng's face clearly, I could guess that she must be in tears.

"What is it?" I guessed that Zi Teng was probably thinking about her aunt. It seemed that news of me waiting for Fei Yan in Fei Yan Palace these past two days had reached Fei Yan's ears.

"I beg you, spare my aunt!" The wisteria thudded as if kowtowing. "Your Majesty, you guessed right. Both times you went to see my aunt, I deliberately made up excuses to call her away beforehand, just to prevent her from running into you."

Wisteria's sudden frankness left me somewhat bewildered, especially when she knelt before me, pleading with a tearful voice. It was quite a challenge for me.

"Why are you suddenly willing to tell me?"

"My aunt already knows. Today, when she saw me, she questioned me about why I had repeatedly prevented you from meeting with her. I didn't dare tell my aunt about Your Majesty's thoughts."

Fei Yan found out? Looks like there's a chance. As long as Fei Yan is willing to see me, I'll be one step closer to success.

"Your Majesty, I beg you, please spare my aunt!" Zi Teng pleaded again. "What you said before was right. My aunt is utterly powerless against the Eastern Emperor. Even if there's only a one in ten thousand chance, she'll try. My aunt, my aunt will definitely fall for your offer!"

I sighed. "Wisteria, why are you so determined to stop this?"

“It concerns my aunt’s life; I cannot let her take such a risk.”

I smiled awkwardly in the darkness, thankfully the night concealed my flushed face.

I knew from the start that if things were exposed, neither Fei Yan nor I would fare well. Especially Fei Yan; given Liu Lieyu's personality, I couldn't even imagine what kind of inhuman treatment she would suffer.

I forced myself to reassure myself: it's alright. If Fei Yan agrees, it's her own choice. Whatever the outcome, it has nothing to do with me. Besides, Fei Yan has always been by Liu Lieyu's side; she's his capable assistant. Nothing serious should happen to her, right?

All I want is to escape with the real "Yu".
