The next day, when I woke up, Liu Lieyu was no longer beside me. I touched the empty spot next to me; the warmth hadn't dissipated yet, so it seemed he had just left.
"Your Majesty, you're awake."
"Mm." I nodded, and Zi Teng helped me up.
"Your Majesty, guess what the Eastern Emperor is doing right now?" Zi Teng asked with a mysterious look and a hint of inexplicable excitement.
"What are you doing?" I rubbed my eyes. I was still a little groggy from just waking up and had a strong urge to lie back down and sleep for a while. My head was also foggy.
I sat on the bed in a daze for a long time before I finally shook off the sleepiness I had just woken up.
"The Emperor is in the kitchen right now, saying he wants to personally make breakfast for Your Majesty," Zi Teng said excitedly.
Phew, I thought it was something serious, but it's just this.
I'd known for a long time that Liu Lieyu could cook, and in my memory, he often cooked for me. After all, back in the mortal realm, I was just a mortal, while Liu Lieyu was a snake demon who tried every possible way... emmm... to seduce me.
Cooking, sweet talk, gifts—if I disregard Liu Lieyu's occasional violent behavior, he could be considered the perfect boyfriend. However, violence is absolutely forbidden and is my only bottom line! That's why I don't like Liu Lieyu.
I hate any expression of love through excessive violence; I don't think that's love.
"Your Majesty, get up quickly, wash up, and it's time to eat." Zi Teng seemed even more anxious than me, urging me on and on, and even had the things I would need to wash up prepared in advance.
"Okay, I got it." I shook my head, got off the bed, took the things from Zifang's hands, and went to the bathroom to wash up.
Looking at the woman in the mirror, with her fair skin and beautiful face, even the way she grinned while brushing her teeth looked exceptionally lively and playful on my face.
The first step was successful, so what's next?
"Your Majesty, are you ready?" Wisteria started knocking on the door again, urging me on and interrupting my thoughts.
"Okay." I spat out the mouthwash and yelled.
Wisteria, that guy is really impatient.
I quickly washed my face and then pushed open the bathroom door. "Why are you rushing me?"
"Oh dear, Your Majesty, hurry up, or the Emperor's meal will be ready soon." Wisteria pushed me to sit in a chair and began to do my hair and makeup.
I took advantage of this time to close my eyes and doze off for a while.
"Alright. Your Highness, take a look." Wisteria nudged me.
"Okay." I casually glanced at the mirror, then nonchalantly stepped out of the room. Sure enough, it was good that Liu Lieyu was there; the usually tightly closed door was wide open today.
I followed the smell and found my way to the kitchen.
I leaned against the kitchen threshold, watching Liu Lieyu methodically prepare breakfast, with soup simmering on the stove.
"Xin'er, you're up." Liu Lieyu asked without turning his head, cracking eggs.
I lazily hummed in agreement.
"Go sit in the living room, I'll be right there."
“Okay.” I glanced at Liu Lieyu’s back, then turned around and sat on the sofa in the living room.
Wow, this soft sofa is so comfortable, I instantly feel like lying on it.
My room was converted from the original owner's room where she and Liu Lieyu used to live. They usually locked me in the bedroom, which was connected to the bathroom. Outside, there was a kitchen, living room, study, and balcony, which were almost exactly the same as the room in the mortal world.
I comfortably squinted my eyes and noticed the wisteria, which had been excited since morning.
