Liu Lieyu's eyes flickered slightly, his gaze lingering, as if he were also recalling the days we spent in the human world.
My chin was gripped tightly by Liu Lieyu, and I could only stare at him with deep emotion. "Back then, you were a demon, and I was a human. Humans and demons are on different paths, and we went through many hardships. But in the end, neither of us expected that we would actually be a pair of destined people who had been entangled for thousands of years."
Liu Lieyu raised the corners of his mouth, his eyebrows and eyes softened, and he rested his head on my shoulder, rubbing it gently like a puppy begging for affection. "I still remember when you lost your memory and became a mortal, you were timid and fragile, like a fragile crystal doll."
I smirked, a sarcastic smile creeping across my face. Isn't this the case now? How easy is it for me, without my magic, to be compared to a mortal? Hasn't Liu Lieyu always wanted an obedient and easily controlled woman like Xin?
After a long silence, a deep voice sounded in my ear, "Have you made up your mind?"
Hmm? Is there a chance?
I nodded slightly. "It's decided."
"Don't you want to think about it? Don't you want it now?" Liu Lieyu said, his tongue hooking onto my earlobe again, licking and biting it. The tingling sensation immediately spread throughout my body, making me feel weak.
I instinctively shrugged and turned my head to avoid it, but Liu Lieyu held the other side of my head with one hand.
"I've made up my mind. Let's be patient a little longer. The ceremony is only a little over a month away, it'll be quick soon." I whispered, enduring Liu Lieyu's fiddling with my ear.
Just as I said I should bear with it, Liu Lieyu suddenly stopped licking and biting. He looked up, his slender eyes scrutinizing me, and then smiled, "I'll listen to you."
After saying that, Liu Lieyu disappeared straight before my eyes, but the smile on his face before he left lingered in my mind for a long time. Was it sadness? I was not sure.
Liu Lieyu left just like that, and I didn't even mention Feng Su's curse or my magic power to him. I remember Liu Lieyu said he would help me recover after the ceremony. I wonder if I can be a little coquettish now and ask Liu Lieyu to recover before the ceremony.
Liu Lieyu hasn't come to see me since that day, and there's less than a month until the ceremony.
I touched my beating heart and my gaze unconsciously fell on Huanzi.
What's meant to happen will happen eventually. How could something that could deceive Liu Lieyu's transformation techniques be as simple as just losing some essence and blood?
"Huanzi." I lowered my hands and casually placed them on my knees.
"Your Majesty, what's wrong?"
I lowered my eyes and tightened my grip on my knees. "Go and call Fei Yan. I have something important to discuss with her."
"Okay." Huanzi nodded, put down her work, and went out.
After Huanzi left, my hand unconsciously went to my chest again. The room was so quiet that I could hear my heart pounding.
Huanzi returned quickly, and Feiyan, who was following behind Huanzi, was still dressed as a little guard.
"What do you need me for?"
I looked up at Fei Yan in front of me, and suddenly tightened my grip on my chest with my left hand, staring blankly at Fei Yan.
"What is it?" Fei Yan frowned slightly, a hint of impatience in her voice, when she didn't speak.
“Our ancient incantation,” I paused, “is still one step away from completion.”
"Still short?" Fei Yan frowned, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes. "Didn't you say it would only take 998 days? I've been keeping track of the days, not a day more, not a day less."
I gently shook my head. "Not this one."
What is that?
