Chapter 285

"Hey, Master, why are you crying? Don't cry!" Feng Su looked up and saw me crying with tears streaming down my face, and immediately panicked.

With a sob in my voice, I stammered, "You, You, does You have another dog?" I was sobbing uncontrollably.

"Oh dear, how could that be? Master, you know that Youyuan never keeps dogs; he doesn't like small animals."

I burst out laughing instantly. What on earth is this?

"Master, why are you crying and laughing at the same time?" Feng Su's hand, which was handing me a handkerchief, froze in mid-air, completely bewildered.

"I'm not asking about your dog ownership, I'm asking if You has another woman?"

"How could that be?" Feng Su sighed and gently wiped the tears from the corners of my eyes with a handkerchief. "You Yuan is not that kind of person. If he really betrayed his master, I would be the first to fight him to the death."

I sniffed and looked at Feng Su, "Really?"

Before anyone knew it, Feng Su had grown into a man that people could rely on.

"Really, Master, you don't even believe me anymore?"

"Then, why doesn't You come to see me?"

"Youyuan is a bit busy right now, but he will come to see you, Master, once he's done."

"What are you busy with?" I pressed. "So something really happened outside?"

"Master, look at this..." Feng Su tried to change the subject again.

"Feng Su." I called Feng Su's name seriously, looking straight into his eyes. "Feng Su, tell me, has something happened?"

Feng Su looked into my eyes for a moment, then gave in, "I'm telling you, it's not like anything bad has happened."

"What is that?"

"Liu Lieyu has already escaped back."

I nodded, as expected, and gestured for Feng Su to continue.

"As soon as Liu Lieyu returned, he led the Guixu army to attack my Abyss."

So, war did come after all?

Seeing that I was lost in thought, Feng Su said again, "But don't worry, You Yuan wasn't injured at all."

"I understand." I nodded dejectedly and didn't mention seeing You again. You must be very busy right now.

“Master, don’t be upset. Youyuan locked you up here not because he’s angry with you, but because he’s afraid you’ll run away. This barrier is not only to keep you from running out, but also to prevent the people of Guixu from looking for you. It’s all for your safety, Master. Do you understand?”

Of course I understand. If Feng Su can understand this, how could I not understand it?

However, I feel inexplicably sad. I really am a complete failure from beginning to end. I can't do anything right and I'm always the biggest drag on the team.

I'm actually looking forward to it for a minute now, hoping that I can become the Ninth Heaven Emperor's daughter, conquering all directions. I can even picture every move she makes on the battlefield.

"Feng Su, were you also on the battlefield?"

Feng Su was silent for a moment, then said, "Yes, I'm here."

"Hao is here too?"

"Mm." Feng Su nodded.

"Be careful and take good care of yourself."

“I will.” Feng Su looked at me firmly. “I said I would stay by my master’s side forever, and I will not leave halfway.”

My eyes gradually welled up with tears. I sniffed and my voice was terribly hoarse. "I finally managed to stop crying, but what you said is going to make me cry again."

Feng Su suddenly smiled, revealing a set of bright white teeth. "Then let me tell you something happy."

I forced a smile and sat down in a chair in the living room. Feng Su's stories were all witty and humorous, but I really wasn't in the mood to laugh out loud.

Feng Su noticed that the smile on my face was somewhat forced, so she suddenly spoke up, "Master, I will go to find You Yuan when I get back and ask him to come see you."

"Huh?" I stammered a little embarrassedly, "If he's busy, then forget it."

Feng Su just smiled faintly, sat with me for a while longer, and then left, telling me not to overthink it before she left.

How could I not overthink it? They were all fighting on the battlefield, while I was all alone in this gilded cage.

Living alone is really boring; even someone like me who doesn't usually like reading has started looking for books to read.

Not only books, but they also piled up a lot of toys in my room to keep me from getting bored. Last time, Jiao'er even brought me a pet, which Feng Su saw and then sent back.

That day, as I was engrossed in reading, I heard a rustling sound coming from the doorway.

"Who is it this time?" I put down my book and, like a child, wondered who the face behind the door might be.

The door opened, and there stood the face I had been longing for day and night.

"You!" I ran to You and looked her over with teary eyes. I was relieved to see that she was not hurt.

"Why are you crying again?" You gently wiped away my tears with her fingers.

I shook my head. "I was just worried about you." After I finished speaking, her familiar face was still smiling gently. I bit my lip. "I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing to me? I should be the one asking you to be understanding." You smiled as usual, gently patted my head, and then hugged me again.

The unique fragrance emanating from You filled my nostrils. It was during a time of war, yet both Feng Su and You had a refreshing scent when they came to me, as if they had washed away the stench of battle.

Suddenly, she released me, staring intently at my stomach with a look of surprise and delight.

"What's wrong?" I was startled by You's sudden movement and looked down at my stomach.

She chuckled heartily, one hand caressing my lower abdomen. "So that's why you were so emotional earlier, you're pregnant with our child."

"No way?" I quickly touched my stomach and used magic to check it.

Sure enough, I really am pregnant.

How could I have gotten pregnant during a war? I touched my belly; the timing of this baby's arrival was really wrong.

"What's wrong?" You asked, her fingers supporting my chin, her eyes filled with joy.

"This child came at a rather inopportune time."

"How can you say that to our baby? He'll feel bad if he hears his mother say that."

"How can someone so small hear it?"

"I can hear you." You looked at my belly with great joy. "We finally have a baby."

I sighed. I had originally thought that You would help me lift the ban so that I could go to the battlefield to provide support.

Sigh, now I've become a complete burden.

What can a pregnant woman like me do on the battlefield? If I accidentally hurt the baby, I will truly be unable to forgive myself.

"You, how is our war with Liu Lieyu going?" I was most concerned about the war. If it could end soon, I could focus on my pregnancy and You could stay by my side.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure this ends as soon as possible."

Looking at You's cheerful face, I was very worried. Could all of this really end soon?
