Chapter 286

Ever since You found out I was pregnant, the protective barrier around my residence has become even more secure.

There were layers upon layers of guards outside, as if they were afraid something would happen to me. Jiao'er and her personal maid even moved into my residence to accompany me 24 hours a day.

Previously, the inner palace was empty, but now, in order to take care of me during my pregnancy, You has arranged for everyone she could think of to enter the inner palace. Of course, not just anyone can enter; the inner palace is heavily guarded, with a barrier on each level.

The personnel were also carefully selected, ensuring they had no intention of harming me.

Although there are many people in the inner palace, not many people can enter my room. Apart from Feng Su and some others who often come to see me before, there are now three more servants to take care of me, and I also have my beloved daughter to keep me company on weekdays.

It can be said that my life was not affected by the war at all; it felt as if the world was at peace and everything was wonderful.

They wouldn't tell me much about the battlefield either. If I asked, they would refuse to answer, saying the battlefield was too bloody and would scare the baby.

The more comfortable and happy I am here, the more worried I become about the front lines.

I clutched my stomach and murmured to myself, "Baby, baby, why did you have to appear at this time?"

"Xin'er, do you want to move around more? I heard that pregnant women should move around more."

I lay lazily on the bed and waved my hand, "I'm not moving, I have no energy."

Since I got pregnant, I've become increasingly lazy and don't want to move around. Counting the months, the baby is almost a month old.

"Lying in bed all day isn't good for the baby," Jiao'er said, looking at me with concern. "Why don't you get up and walk around?"

"Spare me." I rolled over. "If I could go outside, I would be willing, but I'm trapped here every day. You want me to walk around in the room? That's no fun at all."

"This..." Jiao'er lowered her eyes, somewhat embarrassed. "If you want to go out, you must have the Sun and Moon Lord's permission."

"Then it's definitely hopeless."

If I weren't pregnant, everything would be fine, but now that I'm pregnant, You's anxiety about me has reached the point where she sees me as someone who could hurt me at any moment.

Look at my once smooth and cold marble floor, now it's all been replaced with soft, plush carpet, laid in three layers.

You originally thought the floor was too slippery and I was afraid I would accidentally fall, so she laid down a layer of anti-fall flooring. But then she thought the floor was too hard and what if I still fell? So she replaced it with a soft carpet. Now even if I fall on the floor, I won't feel any pain.

All the furnishings in the room were changed. The furniture with sharp edges was replaced with rounded ones, and the edges were covered with soft fabric.

“The Sun and Moon Lord is doing this for your own good.” Jiao’er said to me while reading a book. “I heard that their Eastern Emperor has been trying to kidnap you. If you fall into their hands, the Sun and Moon Lord will be frantic.”

I sat up and leaned against the soft couch. "Of course I know he meant well, but... but I also want to do my part. I'm not as fragile as he thinks."

"Yes, yes, you're the best."

"Sigh, even you're just giving me the runaround," I said, sounding aggrieved.

"How could that be?" Jiao'er put down her book and looked at me seriously. "You were the one who saved me back then, how could I not know your abilities?"

"Sigh." I touched my belly. "If the baby hadn't come at such an inopportune time, I should be fighting on the battlefield right now."

"Shh, don't say things like that, the baby will hear you." Jiao'er put her finger to her lips.

I glanced at my flat stomach. What could he possibly hear? He's still so small.

"You should get up and walk around. Dr. Zou also said you should exercise more."

"Okay." I glanced at my belly and decided to walk around for the baby's health.

Just as I was about to get up, I suddenly heard the door open. "Who's here?"

Without turning her head, Jiao'er said directly, "I suppose it's Doctor Zou."

Before long, Dr. Zou appeared before me with steady steps.

"May Your Majesty be well." Physician Zou was courteous but not humble.

"No need for formalities." I nodded slightly and habitually extended my wrist for Dr. Zou to examine.

Dr. Zou was a doctor that You specially found to take care of me. He would come to see me twice a day to make sure that I and the baby were safe.

In the past, I would have found it too cumbersome, but now...

I looked down at my belly and smiled. Perhaps because of the pregnancy, I didn't find it troublesome at all. Sometimes when I felt uncomfortable, I would ask Dr. Zou several times to confirm the safety of me and the baby.

Doctor Zou reached out and placed his hand on my pulse, then carefully examined me before saying, "The fetus and Madam Jun are both well."

"Okay." I felt much more relieved, patting my belly. "Let's go downstairs."

"Yes." After bowing, Doctor Zou took his leave. Doctor Zou was a man of few words.

Aside from the first day he visited me, when he went on and on about many things to be careful about to my daughter and told me a few things to pay attention to, he hasn't said much since then. Most of the time, Dr. Zou's replies have been that everything is fine.

"Get up and walk around."

"Hmm." This time, I wasn't lazy either. I got out of bed and walked around the room, thinking about some exercises to strengthen my body.

My baby is less than a month old, so my pregnancy isn't showing yet. Under normal circumstances, I can't feel the baby's presence unless I use magic to detect it.

I moved around in the room for about twenty minutes before stopping and lying back down on the bed.

Judging by the time, I estimate my soup will arrive in a little while.

My daughter loves reading, so I read with her in my spare time. Sometimes we even discuss the contents of the books on the spot, making the boring pregnancy less tedious.

There was another unusual movement coming from the door.

"It must be Yunling this time." I could smell the aroma of food from a distance.

Yunling is the woman who delivers my meals; she has a very calm and composed personality.

I reckon Yunling is delivering soup right now.

These medicinal soups were all made using recipes personally given by Dr. Zou, and I drink them every day without fail.

Yunling carried in steadily on a tray, which contained a soup pot, a small bowl, and two spoons.

Yunling steadily placed the tray on the small table in front of my bed, then bowed to me again, saying, "Greetings, Madam Jun."

"Get up." I nodded slightly.

Yunling was calm and quick. She picked up a slightly larger spoon from the tray and ladled soup into the bowl one spoonful at a time, filling the bowl about two-thirds full before putting the spoon down.

Yunling didn't say a word, but silently put the small spoon into the bowl and brought it to me.

I took the bowl from Yunling's hand. Because it was freshly made and still a little hot, I drank it very slowly.

After watching me finish drinking, Yunling took the tray and left.

None of the people selected by Youxuan were lively; they were all extremely calm and quiet.
