Pregnancy goes by quickly, and I safely passed the first three months thanks to everyone's careful care.
"The fetus and Lady Jun are both well."
That day, Dr. Zou examined me and my baby as usual before leaving.
I spent four months in my room, completely unaware of the situation of the war outside.
My estimate is that both sides have their wins and losses, and the game is deadlocked.
I remember that once a pregnant woman has passed the first three months, the pregnancy is considered stable and she is less likely to miscarry later on.
I've been stuck here for almost four months now, and I can't stand it anymore. Seeing that my baby is healthy, my heart is starting to yearn to get out.
"Jiao'er, you said my baby has been fine all this time, and has passed the most dangerous three months, so am I..." I was interrupted by Jiao'er before I could finish speaking.
"What do you want to do?" Jiao'er looked at me warily.
I chuckled awkwardly, "Jiao'er, look how long I've been here. I want to go out for some fresh air."
Jiao'er lowered her eyes and frowned. After a long while, she looked up and said, "You have to ask Sun and Moon Lord if he's willing, but I reckon he won't."
But I refused to give up easily, thinking, "There's always a chance if you just try."
Jiao'er looked at me helplessly and said, "You shouldn't be so dramatic. You're taking care of the baby now that there are two of you."
"I know." I glanced at my slightly protruding belly and thought that even mortals wouldn't be too vulnerable during pregnancy, let alone me, a god, so nothing should happen to me.
My hand touched my slightly protruding belly. If anything happened, I could use my magic to protect it.
"Jiao'er, thank you for staying here with me all this time." I looked up at Jiao'er with a smile.
My gratitude to Jiao'er comes from the bottom of my heart. Jiao'er didn't need to be with me all the time these days, but she insisted on keeping me company in this boring room for three months.
"You don't need to thank me too much." Jiao'er looked up and smiled gently at me.
You hasn't come to see me for a while; I suppose the situation at the front is too tense for her to spare the time.
Thinking about it this way, my hatred for Liu Lieyu deepened even further.
If it weren't for Liu Lieyu, You and I would be so happy right now. I really can't understand why Liu Lieyu would go through all this trouble for Nv Xin.
Ugh, I really want to rush up to Liu Lieyu and tell him, "I'm not the girl you want, wake up!"
"Jiao'er, how are you feeling?" Before I could dwell on the more tragic situation, I quickly tried to shift my focus.
"Huh?" Jiao'er seemed a little confused when I suddenly mentioned Yue Jiao, and stammered, "It's still the same."
"What do you mean by 'like that'?" I teased quietly. "I saw Yuejiao chasing after you earlier."
Jiao'er's gaze dipped for a moment, then returned to normal. "So what? It's impossible between us."
I looked at Jiao'er's calm face with suspicion, not believing what she said. I had a feeling that they would get back together, but I didn't press her for more details.
"What are you talking about?" You's voice suddenly appeared. I looked up and noticed that You was walking gracefully in from outside.
"You're back?!" I exclaimed excitedly, wanting to get out of bed and run to You, but You rushed towards me first. "Be careful," You said, pressing down on my restless body. Jiao'er, seeing You return, wisely went out quietly, not wanting to be a third wheel.
"Why did you suddenly come back?" I greedily enjoyed You's embrace; I missed him so much.
"I just happened to have some free time, so I came to see you." You spoke very gently, as if afraid of startling me, and her warm, large hand caressed my abdomen.
"It's only been a few days, and the baby has grown so much." You looked at my belly with loving eyes.
"Hmph, you don't care about me at all, you only think about your baby." I pouted in dissatisfaction and moved You's large hand away from my belly.
"Look at you, you even ate the wrong thing with your own child." You's hearty laughter echoed through the room.
I felt a little embarrassed, so I covered my head and hid under the covers.
You gently tugged at my blanket, "Why haven't you seen me yet?"
I ignored it.
"Hey, I finally get to see you once in a while, and you don't even want to see me."
"Xin'er?"
"I'm leaving?"
"No!" Before You could take another step, a round head popped out from under the covers.
You gently pinched my cheek, took off her shoes and socks, and we fell asleep in each other's arms.
"You, how is the war going?"
"It's not over yet." You paused for a moment, then continued, "I will finish this as soon as possible."
I looked into You's dark eyes. Although You must have tidied herself up before coming, her face looked somewhat tired beneath her radiant exterior. "Don't work too hard."
"I'm fine." You hugged me and smiled gently.
"If only I weren't pregnant right now, I could still help you."
"If you weren't pregnant, I definitely wouldn't have let you go to the battlefield."
I was speechless for a moment, not knowing what to say. It wasn't until half an hour later that I remembered my purpose.
“You, I want to go to the battlefield with you…” I glanced at You and blurted out the rest of my words in one breath, “My baby is fine now, and the fetus is stable. I want to go to the battlefield with you. Don’t worry, I will use my magic to protect my child and I will never force myself.”
"No way!" You refused decisively. "The battlefield is too dangerous. How can you go?"
“Why can’t I go?” I argued somewhat indignantly. “Although I can’t beat you and Liu Lieyu, I can easily deal with others. I am, after all, the Nine Heavens Emperor who has conquered all directions. I have more experience in fighting than you.”
"Are you sure?" You looked at me with suspicion, her eyes holding a hint of something unreadable.
I swallowed nervously, but I couldn't show it, so I forced a nod and said, "I'm sure."
He remained silent.
"You, just let me go. Feng Su can go, Hao can go, why can't I go?" I shook You's arm, but You remained silent, showing no intention of agreeing.
I let go of You's arm and muttered under my breath, "I'm someone who's on par with you guys. I almost killed Liu Lieyu before you came." Although these were all things that Nv Xin did before, it doesn't stop me from using them now.
"You really want to go?"
"I want to go!" I immediately looked at You with starry eyes.
"It's not impossible for you to go, but you have to agree to a few conditions." You felt a little helpless under my gaze, so she had no choice but to give in and agree to my demands.
"As long as you let me go, I'll send hundreds, not just a few," I replied crisply, clearly unaware that this was a huge trap.
A glint of light flashed in You's eyes, then she asked hesitantly, "What if you don't keep your promise?"
"I will absolutely comply!"
