Chapter 388

I don't know how long I slept on the bed before I finally fell asleep.

"You!" I opened my eyes and saw You, whom I hadn't seen for a long time.

He's really back! Lan Qi didn't lie to me.

You gently stroked my face as I remembered, though I looked somewhat haggard with some bruises under my eyes.

"You, I miss you so much." I sat up and snuggled into You's arms.

You chuckled softly, her arms wrapped tightly around me as if afraid I would disappear. "I missed you too."

After hugging me for a while, You let go of me, her eyes full of worry. "Did Liu Lieyu torture you?" You asked, wanting to check if I had any wounds.

"I'm fine." I concealed what Liu Lieyu had done in the pool, not wanting You to worry.

You looked at me intently with your dark eyes, as if you could see into the deepest part of my heart.

I lowered my head a little guiltily, but You didn't ask me anything. She just took my hand and said, "That's good."

"Are you alright?" I carefully observed You. She looked a little haggard, but there seemed to be no injuries on her body.

You was wearing dark clothes, so I couldn't see anything, so I went straight to pull at You's clothes.

You grabbed my mischievous hand, her eyes crinkling with a smile, "I'm not hurt."

I met You's gaze, and the next second I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her delicate lips precisely.

We were kissing so passionately that we couldn't bear to part.

Lan Qi suddenly stood behind You and said, "Hey, there are other people here too."

I just let go of You, and I covered my face shyly. I thought Lan Qi had left.

You calmly withdrew her arm from mine. "You haven't left yet?"

Lan Qi raised an eyebrow. "Is this how you thank me?"

You leaned closer to me, raised her hand and pulled my hand away from my face, kissed my cheek, and then stood up.

"Let's go to the front hall to talk."

Lan Qi glanced at me and then gave a faint "Hmm."

Before leaving, You patted my head and said, "Wait for me."

I sat on the bed, staring blankly at the background of You and Lan Qi's beautiful appearance.

Hmm, these two standing together are a real treat to behold.

I sat there for a while, then got up from the bed. The corridor was still a lotus pond at night, with palace lanterns scattered here and there, adding a sense of mystery. Lan Qi and You had long since disappeared.

They went to talk business, and I didn't know what to do. I scratched my head and decided to find something to do.

There is a small study in the hall, where You usually sits. Today You is not here, so I can go and take a look.

The study is flanked by tall wooden bookshelves, and the Four Treasures of the Study are laid out on the table. I casually picked up a calligraphy brush and twirled it around.

A calligraphy brush? I've only used one in calligraphy class before. Suddenly, I felt inspired to practice calligraphy, which I haven't practiced in a long time.

I picked up a book at random and started practicing calligraphy.

Back in modern times, I studied calligraphy, but my writing wasn't very good.

The ink flowed across the paper, but I lost interest after only a few words. I realized I wasn't cut out for reading and writing; I just wanted to be a couch potato.

I put down the brush, blew on the still-wet characters, admired them for a moment, and then prepared to go for a walk.

Last time, Lan Qi and You didn't know what to say, but they talked for a long time.

I wonder how long this will take.

I left the palace and wandered around aimlessly.

People passing by would stop and bow when they saw me; the palace was much more lively than before after the arrival of the attendants.

No one followed me. Neither You nor I were often in the abyss, and I didn't like having someone follow me around and serve me all the time. So the servants in my palace all kept their distance from me and worked silently.

As I walked, I unknowingly ended up in the front hall.

It was not court time, so the spacious hall seemed even emptier now.

The main hall was completely empty.

I glanced around casually and then found a place to sit down.

You and Lan Qi are also discussing matters in the front hall, so I'll wait here.

It wasn't too far to the left or right, and I fell asleep while sitting there.

In my sleep, I vaguely felt as if I had another dream.

I stood on a bottomless pool of water. The water beneath my feet was not the usual green or blue, but an incredibly thick black, like a pool of ink.

I lifted my foot, and my foot was also stained black by the black pool water, dripping black liquid.

My heart skipped a beat, and then I wanted to run away.

No matter how much I ran, the pool seemed to have no end.

It seemed as if a monster lurked beneath the pool, capable of pulverizing me. Standing on the surface of the pool, I didn't know what to do. I tried to shout for help, but the echo only terrified me.

Ripples suddenly appeared in the water just five steps away from me. Was something about to come up? I slowly retreated, wary.

The black hair was the first to emerge from the water, and my heart skipped a beat; I dared not breathe.

Who is it?

A breathtaking face appeared before me. The dark pool water receded, revealing a fair complexion. The person's eyes were tightly closed, and their wet eyelashes were glistening. A sleeping beauty.

I wanted to step forward and get a clear look, but the next second, the person suddenly opened their eyes.

"Ah!" I screamed and woke up from my dream.

I clutched my chest. That person... that person... looked exactly like me!

"What's wrong? What happened?" You's voice came from afar.

I looked up and saw You's worried face. "I'm fine, I just had a nightmare."

You held my hand, and only then did I realize how cold my hands were.

I calmed down and asked with a smile, "Have you finished talking with Lan Qi?"

You nodded gently and said, "Lan Qi has already gone back."

"Today went by pretty fast."

You pinched my cheek. "Why are you sleeping here? Be careful not to catch a cold."

"No." I took You's hand and stood up. "Let's go back."

You and I slowly walked back to my palace.

I was preoccupied the whole way; I rarely have such strange dreams.

Recently, I've had several dreams about it, and I always feel that it's not that simple.

"Still thinking about that nightmare?"

You suddenly spoke, interrupting my thoughts, "Hmm."

"Don't think about it anymore, dreams are all fake." You held my hand and gave me strength.

I nodded. Of course I know dreams are all fake.

However, a vague premonition made me panic.

You deliberately changed the subject and chatted with me casually, "Yuejiao and Manjiao'er are already married."

I nodded. "Yes, they've finally overcome their hardships."

"Would you like to go see them?"

"Yes, I do."

"Shall we go take a look tomorrow?"

Since You brought it up, I naturally had no reason to disagree, and happily agreed, "Okay."

I'm still very much looking forward to seeing how my darling is different after marriage. I have so many questions I want to ask her, and I wonder if my trip to the mortal realm last time scared her.

If I scare my darling, no one will want to play with me anymore.
