Sixty-two

I opened the envelope under the tense gazes of Xiaogua and Xiaohua. The letter contained only a few neat sentences.

"You've decided to come find me at Liuyun Tower at noon tomorrow."

"What kind of place is Liuyun Tower?" I asked, folding the letter carefully.

Xiao Gua and Xiao Hua looked at each other in bewilderment. Xiao Gua replied, "Liuyun Tower is a great place to eat and listen to stories in our Lingcheng."

I nodded in agreement, glanced at the envelope in my hand, and decided to burn it.

Xiao Gua and Xiao Hua watched my actions silently. Xiao Hua asked in a low voice, "Young Master, did Yue Jiao invite you to Liuyun Tower?"

“That’s right.” I watched as the envelope vanished from my hand.

"Young master, you must not go. Yue Jiao definitely has ill intentions."

I smiled and patted Xiaogua on the shoulder, saying, "Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Xiao Gua wanted to say something, but Xiao Hua stopped her. I smiled and lay back down on my bed. As soon as I lay down, I couldn't help but yawn. I was really tired after walking around outside all day.

When Xiao Gua and Xiao Hua saw that I was going to sleep, they tiptoed outside the door to keep watch.

I was half asleep, half awake, when I vaguely felt someone watching me. I opened my eyes groggily and sure enough, there was a figure by my bedside. I was so startled that I woke up immediately. When I looked closely, I realized it was You.

"You, you're finally here." I finally sat up, my shock turning to surprise, and looked at You. It felt like it had been a long time since I'd seen you.

You gently rubbed the top of my head. "I've been here for a while. You little lazy cat, you can't even sleep soundly. You're kicking off the blankets and snoring."

My face immediately turned red, and I whispered, "Liar, I didn't."

You smiled and pulled me into her arms, the air filled with her unique fragrance. Hmm? This time, there seemed to be a slightly different scent. Was it... the smell of blood? Before I could think further, You spoke from above me, "Where are Feng Su and Luo? Where are they?"

I cleared my mind of all my random thoughts and replied, "Feng Su and Luo are in another place. A lot has happened to You these past few days." As I said this, I couldn't help but snuggle closer to You.

I suddenly remembered that I was still a man, so I quietly withdrew the spell and reverted to being a woman.

"What's wrong?" You asked, looking down.

I thought about it and decided to keep it short. "A scumbag invited me to Sun and Moon City, saying that the Sun and Moon Lord wants to see me. You, what do you think, should I go or not?"

You asked in a soft, indulgent tone with a gentle laugh, "Didn't you already make up your mind? Why are you asking me again?"

Huh? How did You know?

"Go without worry, Sun and Moon Lord isn't a bad person, he won't do anything to you." You said, gently placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Do you know him?" I couldn't help but ask, a little curious.

After a moment of contemplation, he spoke, "We have occasional contact."

"Have you met him?" You actually knows Sun and Moon Lord? How come I didn't know? I don't remember Sun and Moon Lord being mentioned in the original work.

"No." You shook her head. "The Sun and Moon Lord is very mysterious."

"Is that so?" My questions grew even bigger. Although You said she didn't know me well, I felt it wasn't that simple. If we really didn't know each other well, how could You have let me go?

I suddenly thought of the original story's description of You's sudden rise to power in his second incarnation. Houtu Niangniang (Goddess of the Earth) seemed to have provided You with a lot of help, as if she already knew You's true identity. What about this Sun and Moon Lord? Could he also be...?

"What are you thinking about?" You tapped my head.

"No, I was just wondering what Sun Moon Lord is like." I looked up with a smile.
