Chapter 23 Just based on her face? (1/2)

"I was bored at home today so I went for a walk on the mountain. When I was digging herbs, I saw a rabbit." Su Miaomiao lowered her voice again, "Mom and Dad, don't tell anyone. Don't let others find out."

"Isn't this... a bit too bad?" Huo Jianguo felt complicated when he heard that it was Su Miaomiao who caught the rabbit.

Tang Chunlan slapped his arm like a sister: "What's wrong? Miaomiao worked so hard to give us a meal, and you don't appreciate it?"

"That's not what I meant, it's just..." Huo Jianguo was born into a military family, and it is his deep-seated belief not to take a single penny from the people.

Of course Su Miaomiao understood what Huo Jianguo was thinking and explained with a smile.

"Dad, don't worry. I asked Grandpa Zhao before. Some people in the village also go into the mountains to hunt. They can keep small animals like this for themselves, but if they hunt big ones, they have to hand them in. The reason I asked you not to make it public is because our achievements are not very good. We were originally sent to the countryside for reform. If the villagers knew that we still have meat to eat, I'm afraid it would cause unnecessary trouble."

"Listen, look how thoughtful our daughter is. But you are so stubborn, sticking to those meaningless rules, causing our family to suffer with you." Tang Chunlan glared at Huo Jianguo.

"I'm not...Okay, it's my fault." Huo Jianguo was not a good talker to begin with, and he admitted his fault after failing to comfort the girl for a while.

"Mom, stop talking about Dad. You are willing to go to the countryside with him because you think his persistence is right." Su Miaomiao knew that Tang Chunlan's complaints just now were just casual words.

"Why are you still teasing me?" Tang Chunlan glanced at Huo Jianguo beside her embarrassedly.

Huo Jianguo smiled so hard that his teeth were showing.

"Mom, Dad, little sister, why don't you come in yet? The food is getting cold." Huo Xinyuan waited in the room for a long time but Huo Jianguo and the others didn't show up. He couldn't help but go out to remind them.

After all, asking him to look at that huge pot of braised rabbit meat without being able to pick up his chopsticks would simply drive him crazy.

"I'll be right there." Tang Chunlan immediately took Su Miaomiao's hand and said, "Let's go in and have dinner."

As soon as Huo Jianguo and his friends came in, everyone started eating immediately.

Huo Xinyuan was eating so happily that he gave Su Miaomiao a thumbs up and his mouth never stopped talking for a moment.

Mr. and Mrs. Huo couldn't eat spicy food, but they still tried a few bites.

For a moment, the only sound in the simple house was the sound of people eating and swallowing.

Only after he finished eating all the dishes in the bowl did Huo Xinyuan rub his stomach and put down the bowl.

"I suddenly felt that if I could eat my little sister's cooking every day, life wouldn't be that hard."

"If you like it, I will cook it for you every day." Su Miaomiao smiled.

"No, cooking is so tiring, and I have to light a fire. I'll do it when I get home later." Tang Chunlan refused.

As soon as Tang Chunlan said this, everyone's eyes fell on her.

Huo Xinyuan moved his lips, but swallowed.

His mother's cooking skills are actually a bit...hard to describe.

But he couldn't tire his younger sister out just to satisfy his own appetite.

Forget it, if you’re really hungry, you can eat anything.

Others shared the same idea as Huo Xinyuan.

"Mom, let me cook. I work at the pharmacy and have more flexible hours. I can come back earlier if there are no patients..." Su Miaomiao wanted to explain, but Tang Chunlan interrupted her before she could finish her words.

"But we can't leave everything to you. You've suffered so much following us, and we can't let you do so many things anymore." Tang Chunlan said in a firm tone.

Looking at Tang Chunlan who was so determined, Su Miaomiao sighed.

In the end, I chose to tell the truth.

"Mom, I think... you don't have much talent in cooking."
