Chapter 57 Shock (1/2)

The first thing that caught my eye were three guards holding strange black weapons. The three were dressed in light, close-fitting clothes and were not even wearing protective armor. They dared to break into the prison without any protection.

The commander raised his chin mockingly and gestured behind him.

Swish swish swish—

The archers immediately prepared.

Zhou Cheng, who was particularly afraid of death, stood in the center of the guards, with a submachine gun on his shoulder. As soon as he stepped out, he felt the atmosphere was too heavy and deathly silent.

"Zhou Cheng!!!" The commander, who was a hundred meters away, caught sight of Zhou Cheng and immediately changed his expression. He stared intently at Zhou Cheng and shouted, "This place is now surrounded by me!"

"You dare to break into a prison and kidnap criminals; this is a capital offense."

"You ants, why don't you surrender at once!"

Zhou Cheng chuckled, showing no fear whatsoever.

That wasn't all. He then raised the dark object in his hand, fiddled with it for a few seconds, and then glanced at the fifty archers in the distance.

That's it?

This is the hidden weapon that terrified the warden.

Ridiculous! It doesn't even look very powerful!

Seeing that Zhou Cheng remained unmoved and silent, showing no regard for him whatsoever, the commander became utterly enraged: "Zhou Cheng, I am acting on His Majesty's orders to arrest everyone in the Zhou family and bring them to justice."

"The Lin family woman accused your father of colluding with the Xiongnu in a plot to rebel. This envoy found correspondence in the Zhou residence. With both witnesses and physical evidence, what else do you have to say?"

"Let me tell you the truth, Zhou Zhenguang is completely out of supplies, and the 130,000 troops who followed him in the rebellion are about to starve to death! Do you think you can survive by escaping the capital? Don't waste your time fighting!"

"I'll give you ten seconds."

"If they do not surrender within ten seconds, shoot them dead."

"ten!"

The countdown has begun.

The archers behind them had already nocked their arrows and drawn their bows, aiming menacingly at Zhou Cheng and his group.

The commander looked at Zhou Cheng, who was still struggling in his death throes and fiddling with his broken weapon. His eyes were filled with a coldness, and the rest of his gaze was one of disdain for an ant trying to shake an elephant.

He looked down on Zhou Cheng and didn't take these mere ten guards seriously.

"Nine!"

The bowstring is drawn taut.

"eight!"

The atmosphere was perfect.

"seven......."

It's about to erupt.

"Fire!!" The moment the number seven was uttered, Zhou Cheng suddenly raised his unfathomable black eyes, swung his arm, and threw ten grenades at the five hundred Imperial Guards behind him.

The commander's face stiffened slightly as the countdown was interrupted. Then, he saw objects resembling black stones streak through the air and be hurled forcefully towards the archers.

Click.

Landing.

The fifty archers instinctively took two steps back, thinking it was some kind of hidden weapon.

As soon as they raised their front feet, before they could even retreat, a gust of air capable of tearing a human body came crashing down, accompanied by a violent explosion, and nearly half of the archers died on the spot.

About 10% of the Embroidered Uniform Guards died without leaving a complete corpse.

Two-tenths of them had severed hands and feet, their faces unrecognizable, and they screamed in agony.

Thirty percent suffered extensive blast injuries and were unable to mount a resistance in the short term.

The remaining half, some affected by the aftershocks, stared wide-eyed in horror and astonishment at the unbelievable scene.

Bang bang bang!

My heart was pounding.

As my adrenaline surged, my mind went blank with shock, and even my ears started ringing with a buzzing sound.

"........"

"........"

All the Imperial Guards, whether lightly injured or uninjured, were dumbfounded.

At the critical moment, the commander was tackled to the ground by his subordinates and escaped unharmed, but he was still affected by the aftershocks of the explosion on his back, and a burning pain swept over his whole body.
