Chapter 1 Cut a Knife

Chapter 1 Cut a Knife

Luo Mingshu was woken up by that book. She opened her eyes and looked at the light blue curtains hanging overhead and the azure shimmering jade. She immediately sat up and pounded the bed board twice.

She read a book in her dream. The noble, elegant, beautiful, cute and generous woman was not the female lead, but a vicious supporting character who was always against the female lead, Lu Yaoyao. She ridiculed the female lead and used all sorts of vicious schemes to frame her.

The book describes how she was jealous of Lu Yaoyao's pure and ethereal beauty because she looked too ordinary. She even wanted to steal Lu Yaoyao's unique and precious crystal spiritual root. At the end of the book, she actually cooperated with the Demon Lord of the Demon Realm in an attempt to extract the female protagonist's spiritual root, but she was betrayed by the Demon Lord and lost her own spiritual root, being thrown into the treacherous Black Prison to fend for herself.

Luo Mingshu tore up the book after reading the plot. Calling her a vicious female supporting character is fine; that's exactly who she is. But she could never cooperate with some worthless demon lord.

Aside from this false information, she thought the book was quite good and portrayed her character very realistically, which is why she tore it up in a fit of impotent rage at the end.

However, Luo Mingshu never even considered turning over a new leaf or trying to clear her name by becoming a docile and innocent girl.

She planned to do everything the villainous female supporting character should do, and then find a chance to punch the demon lord who betrayed her in the face twice.

Luo Mingshu jumped off the bed, the sparkling jade ornaments hanging by the bedside colliding with each other, making a crisp sound. She looked up at her room, which was filled with light. The morning sunlight made every exquisite treasure inside sparkle. She sat there amidst a pile of luxurious treasures.

She sniffed, feeling a pang of heartache. She couldn't believe that she would abandon the treasures she had painstakingly accumulated and be thrown into a cold, dark prison.

Luo Mingshu went to the crystal mirror in the room to do her makeup. At this moment, her door was pushed open, and a pretty young girl walked in.

"Ah Fa," Luo Mingshu called out to her, her tone filled with heartache.

Ah Fa stepped forward and saw Luo Mingshu sitting in front of the mirror, her slightly curled long hair falling to her waist. Her appearance was stunning at first glance, lush and beautiful, with red lips without any makeup, phoenix eyes that were upturned, exuding nobility and elegance. Her long, curled eyelashes softened her seemingly aggressive nature that could kill with her beauty at any time.

"Senior sister, what's wrong?" Afa asked as he leaned back in Luo Mingshu's recliner, cracking sunflower seeds.

Luo Mingshu turned her head and stared at Afa with a resentful look in her eyes. Afa was her fellow disciple, and they had been disciples for several decades. In the original book, Afa was the number one lackey under her vicious female supporting character, and she was best at helping her cause trouble and frame people.

She wrinkled her nose, revealing a somewhat naive and innocent expression, and waved to Ah Fa: "Fa, have you ever heard of a book?"

Ah Fa spat out the sunflower seed shells in his mouth and said confidently, "Senior Sister, I've read all sorts of books, including all the cheap literature outside the Yu Ling Sect. Now, tell me."

"The... the aloof senior brother's beloved pet, the delicate junior sister, don't run away." Luo Mingshu began to stammer, feeling that just saying the title of the book was already a death sentence.

“It sounds like your taste, Senior Sister,” Afa said, pursing his lips. “But I’ve never read this book before.”

“Lu Yaoyao.” Luo Mingshu read out the name, “Isn’t she the little disciple that Fuyun Peak next door took in a couple of years ago? Now she’s probably… probably at the Golden Core stage.”

"Senior sister has a really good memory," Ah Fa praised. "Indeed."

Luo Mingshu wanted to find someone to beat her up first, but she thought she needed to find a reason first. The female protagonist in that book was named Lu Yaoyao, and the book insisted that she had a crush on her damn senior brother and was always going against her.

How could she possibly have a crush on that senior brother? Luo Mingshu found it outrageous. She thought it best to find someone to beat up her senior brother first and nip the trouble in the bud.

"She also has a senior brother whose name is... oh, I can't remember that stinky man's name. You find someone to beat up all the male disciples of Fuyun Peak, and I'll give you spirit stones." Luo Mingshu took the hairpin from the dressing table in front of the mirror and put it in her hair.

"This...this is too much, Senior Sister!" Ah Fa exclaimed in shock. "We need to come up with a reason first."

"Then you can go to the foot of their mountain and pretend to fall down," Luo Mingshu suggested. "Just say they pushed you, and then I can use the excuse of avenging you to start my attack."

Afa felt ashamed to pretend to fall down on someone else's mountain, but Luo Mingshu offered her money, which tempted her.

They quickly assumed the role of villains and began plotting how to cause trouble.

But just as they were discussing, the restriction on the stream where Luo Mingshu was sitting was triggered. Luo Mingshu asked Afa to open the door, and there was a little girl outside who was fidgeting and twisting the hem of her clothes.

Luo Mingshu came over to join in the fun: "Who are you?"

The young girl bit her lip, raised her head, and revealed a beautiful and ethereal face: "Senior Sister Luo, I am Lu Yaoyao."

Lu Yaoyao is the name of the female protagonist in the original book. Upon hearing this, Luo Mingshu turned around and prepared to go to her room to grab some weapons, but Afa quickly grabbed her: "Lu Yaoyao, what are you doing at Shuixijian?"

"I...I've come to ask Senior Sister Luo for help." Lu Yaoyao's tears fell quickly as she rushed over with teary eyes.

Luo Mingshu quickly took two steps back to keep her distance: "You'd be better off begging the Demon Lord of the Demon Realm; he's easier to talk to than me."

Lu Yaoyao grabbed Luo Mingshu's sleeve and started crying: "My... my senior brother went to the border between our territory and the demon realm for a trial and disappeared. Although the elders have sent people out to look for him, they still can't find his exact location."

The senior brother she mentioned was naturally the male protagonist in the book. Luo Mingshu thought to herself, "What a good thing!" and said directly, "I just don't understand how there can be such a weak cultivator who can get lost during a trial."

"He escaped to the Everlasting Mist Forest and is now nowhere to be found," Lu Yaoyao said, sniffling and sobbing.

"If you're missing, just drink more hot water. What do you want from me? Do you want me to give this good-for-nothing a couple of punches?" Luo Mingshu asked, puzzled.

However, she and Lu Yaoyao were clearly communicating across servers. Lu Yaoyao had the ability to automatically block out her foul language. She continued to cry: "I heard... I heard that Senior Sister Luo has a Soul-Summoning Bell, a treasure of the human realm. As long as there is a medium, it can sense the location of the primordial spirit across spatial distances."

Luo Mingshu leaned back strategically and asked Afa, "Do we have this thing?"

"Senior Sister, ten years ago you spent three spirit stones to buy the Soul-Summoning Bell at the Mountain and Sea Market. Later, it was determined that it had the function of locating the primordial spirit through a medium, and its value was at least over ten million spirit stones. Now it's just gathering dust in our Shuixijian warehouse." Afa remembered every single expense of Luo Mingshu's.

"Oh, I can't lend you those tens of millions of dollars worth of stuff." Luo Mingshu pushed Lu Yaoyao away. If she hadn't read the original book, Lu Yaoyao could have coaxed her a bit and she probably would have lent it to her. But the book twisted the story, making her jealous of Lu Yaoyao, which made her very angry.

"Senior Sister Luo... how can you not care about the lives of your fellow disciples at all?" Lu Yaoyao accused through tears.

"He went to the border of the demon realm for a trial with only a Golden Core cultivation level. Isn't that just courting death? Don't you know how tense our relationship with the demon race is?" Luo Mingshu thought the people of Fuyun Peak were all idiots.

"Senior Sister Luo, do you know that Senior Brother is a Golden Core cultivator? You...you're actually so interested in him!" Lu Yaoyao exclaimed, her focus quite strange.

Luo Mingshu: "..." ¥&%* profanity.

If she hadn't read that book last night, she wouldn't have remembered this person's cultivation level.

"But he went to the border of the demon realm to get me a magic weapon for a breakthrough..." Lu Yaoyao said hesitantly, as if she were making a declaration.

Luo Mingshu was exasperated: Nobody's interested in your boyfriend!

"Don't cry." Her tone softened suddenly, and she subtly pulled her sleeve out of Lu Yaoyao's hand.

Lu Yaoyao was flattered by Luo Mingshu's sudden gentleness: "Senior Sister Luo, thank you for comforting me."

"Your senior brother will die in the Eternal Mist Forest tomorrow." Luo Mingshu directly stabbed him in the back. "He... he may have already been captured and eaten by the demons there, cooked, fried, roasted, or boiled. I don't know what kind of cooking methods they used, but it must have been quite delicious."

Lu Yaoyao couldn't hold back any longer and started sobbing with her head down.

Luo Mingshu was annoyed by Lu Yaoyao's crying. She casually glanced at the decorations on Lu Yaoyao's body. Every piece of her outfit from head to toe was very valuable. For example, the mother-of-pearl necklace hanging on her lapel had a five-colored luster and should be worth tens of thousands of spirit stones. There was also the jade bracelet on her wrist, the craftsmanship of which was absolutely exquisite.

She figured Lu Yaoyao must be a rich woman, and her greedy nature immediately kicked in, wondering if she could squeeze some money out of her.

So the villainous female supporting character activated her skills and started causing trouble.

"How about this, you go back first, and I'll go to your Fuyun Peak this afternoon to discuss this matter again?" Luo Mingshu pushed Lu Yaoyao outside the stream.

"Okay... Sure, Senior Sister Luo, thank you." Seeing a glimmer of hope, Lu Yaoyao nodded in agreement. She planned to call a group of highly respected elders; with them watching over things, Luo Mingshu probably wouldn't dare refuse.

After sending the little crybaby away, Luo Mingshu went to the storeroom and found the Soul-Calling Bell. Although this thing was a priceless treasure, it was just the most inconspicuous item among Luo Mingshu's many collections. In the end, Luo Mingshu dragged it out from the corner of the storeroom with his nose covered in dust.

She took the Soul-Summoning Bell into her palm and went to rest in the courtyard with Ah Fa. Shuixijian was a very special place within the territory of the Yuling Sect. It was a small valley embraced on three sides, with a clear mountain spring cascading down to form a small waterfall. The water splashed against the rocks, creating a misty spray, like a fairyland. Sunlight streamed down from above, piercing through the mist and shimmering with seven-colored light. It was extremely humid here, so the cultivators of the Yuling Sect were reluctant to stay long, but Luo Mingshu, with her water spirit root, loved it here.

Afa picked up a copy of a cheap novel sold outside the Yuling Sect and began reading it with great interest, while Luo Mingshu climbed onto a recliner in the courtyard, stretching out in the sunlight, her slightly curly long hair cascading down from the couch. Luo Mingshu raised her hand and lightly tapped in mid-air, several golden net-like rays of light rippling from her fingertips.

Luo Mingshu activated her Spirit Network. The Spirit Network is a network of divine senses that connects the divine senses of cultivators. It was developed by the Water Mirror Sect, one of the four major sects in the human realm. After cultivators authenticate with their divine senses, they can communicate on the Spirit Network. Later, the Spirit Network spread to the Demon Realm and the Monster Realm, and many strange extraterrestrial creatures also appeared on the Spirit Network.

Within the Spirit Network, cultivators often communicate and chat in a separate spiritual network called the Four Directions Water Mirror. Over time, any major news from the cultivation world is also released in the Four Directions Water Mirror.

Luo Mingshu has her own name on the Spirit Network, which is almost equivalent to registering her real name online, since the four labels "beautiful woman", "three hundred years old", "water spirit root" and "easy to deceive" are very obvious.

She's good at leaving comments under various news headlines to make herself known.

Today, Luo Mingshu saw a new message: "[The Fairy of Neon Light has emerged from seclusion; cultivators who wish to hear her preach should hurry!]"

Luo Mingshu didn't know who Fairy Neon Light was, but she felt very unconvinced when she saw the long string of replies below.

[Simp #1: Really? I'll grab a stool and wait outside the Neon Light Sect right now!]

[Simp #2: Waaaaah, you radiant fairy, with your breathtaking beauty, I'd listen to your sermons for a lifetime!]

[Simp #3: Will the Fairy of Neon Light see my confession from the front row?]

Luo Mingshu felt it was necessary to let them know who the number one beauty in the cultivation world was.

So, she transformed her divine thought into a golden thread, which she frantically waved in mid-air, writing down a string of characters and sending it out immediately.

[A 300-year-old beauty with a water-spiritual root is easily fooled: I feel her looks aren't as good as... Luo Mingshu.]

Her online name quickly attracted a string of replies.

[Simp #4: Who are you trying to hook up with? [Sweating soybeans] Is the Fairy of Neon Light someone that Luo Mingshu from the Spirit Control Sect, who's been stuck at the Nascent Soul stage for a hundred years without making any progress, would dare to try and scam her? She's already at the Nascent Soul stage now!]

The online name "【Beautiful 300-year-old Water Spirit Root Easy to Foole】" is famous in the Four Directions Water Mirror for being too argumentative. Although every word she says praises Luo Mingshu, everyone thinks that "Beautiful 300-year-old Water Spirit Root Easy to Foole" is Luo Mingshu's mortal enemy, and takes it upon herself to ruin Luo Mingshu's reputation among the general public in the Four Directions Water Mirror.

[A 300-year-old beauty with a water-elemental root is easily fooled: You think Luo Mingshu can't beat someone at the mere Nascent Soul stage?]

[Simp #4: Pshaw, but after she came out of seclusion, she was a genuine Nascent Soul cultivator. What does Luo Mingshu have to compare with her?]

[Simp #4: I've only ever heard of cultivators who never reach the Golden Core stage in their entire lives. Luo Mingshu is probably the first one who can't break through to the Nascent Soul stage, right? I think if I cultivate for a few more years, I can catch up to this pretty-boy.]

[Simp #4: Why are you so quiet? Did I berate you until you couldn't speak?]

Luo Mingshu leaned back in her recliner, pulled over the iced fruit tea from the table, and slowly took a sip.

She only realized after she finished her tea that the other person had spammed her several times. Judging from the speed at which they manipulated their divine sense to reply, their cultivation level was probably around Foundation Establishment. Is that all?

Luo Mingshu used the powerful divine sense of a Nascent Soul cultivator to type at lightning speed, inputting the content into the Four Directions Water Mirror. Five or six lines of information exploded out like fireworks.
