The voice coming from the school gate was arrogant and rough; it sounded like the voice of a villain.
The girl turned around and immediately hid behind the two of us.
I looked up at the school gate and saw two men running towards it. They were killing monsters that blocked their way as they ran, and their bodies and faces were covered in blood. They looked very ferocious.
Moreover, their shouts were very loud; the monsters outside the school gate and inside the school heard them, so it's easy to imagine that these monsters are all heading this way.
This gives me the creeps.
Seeing the two menacing-looking middle-aged men, I took the knife from my right hand with my left hand, put my right hand behind my back, and waited for the two men to come over.
Zhou Liang asked the girl behind him, "Who are these two? Why are they arresting you?"
The girl looked terrified and couldn't say a word.
Two middle-aged men approached us. They looked unfamiliar and were carrying iron bars with bits of meat hanging from them.
One of the balding middle-aged men was the one who had shouted earlier. He glanced at the girl hiding behind us and asked unhappily, "Who are you two little brats? Get out of the way."
Zhou Liang laughed and cursed, "Who are you two idiots? How dare you talk to your grandfather like that?"
Another middle-aged man with a crew cut angrily retorted, "You little brat, do you want a beating?"
After he finished speaking, he raised the iron rod in his hand and was about to rush up and hit someone.
Zhou Liang wasn't intimidated at all. He brandished the knife in his hand and cursed, "Come on, let's see how your grandpa will slash you to death!"
The balding middle-aged man quickly stopped his companion and glared at the two of us, saying, "You two, get out of my way! You can't protect that little wench behind you!"
"Please, save me," the girl begged us.
Zhou Liang, protecting the girl, said, "Are you two crazy? If you want a godmother, just find one. Why are you so relentless towards a young girl? Is that appropriate?"
The balding middle-aged man glared and cursed, "What the hell do you know!"
Zhou Liang glared back, "Hey, I just don't understand! So what! You have a problem with that? Go ahead and do it! Let's see who can beat whom!"
"You little brat, you're asking for it!" Zhou Liang's words provoked the two middle-aged men into a rage, and they raised their sticks, ready to charge forward.
Seeing this, I decisively pulled out my gun from my lower back and fired a shot at the other person's arm.
Bang!
The gunshot was so loud that it echoed throughout the school.
Clang! The stick in the balding middle-aged man's hand fell to the ground, and the sharp pain in his arm made him scream: "Ouch! It hurts!"
The middle-aged man with the crew cut froze when he saw the pistol in my hand and didn't come any closer.
The gun was still smoking when I said to the two men, "Get lost, and don't let me see you again, or next time it won't just be your arm."
The two middle-aged men stared fearfully at the gun in my hand.
"Get out!" I shouted again.
The two decisively turned around and fled.
The gunshots aroused the surrounding monsters, and Zhou Liang, seeing this, hurriedly said, "Let's hurry up and leave. There are more and more zombies here, and it will be too late if we don't leave now."
I didn't put away my pistol. I could see the situation around me clearly. If I didn't leave soon, I would probably be surrounded by these monsters!
The three of us decisively ran towards the back door.
"Thank you for saving me," the girl suddenly said during their escape.
Zhou Liang chuckled and said, "Let's not talk about that now, let's focus on surviving first."
The girl nodded: "Don't worry, I will definitely make sure you survive."
Her words struck me as odd. Did this girl possess some kind of superpower that allowed us to survive? She was so arrogant!
Zhou Liang was also stunned for a moment, but without thinking much, he continued running towards the back door.
There were many zombies on the way to the back door. Zhou Liang and I basically went on a killing spree without any scruples, killing one monster every ten steps, with blood splattering for three hundred meters.
A short while later, I suddenly heard running footsteps behind me.
Zhou Liang and I exchanged a glance.
Zhou Liang said helplessly, "Are we going to run into another zombie that can run?"
"Possibly."
I turned my head and saw a monster covered in blood, its face also covered in blood, chasing after us at an incredible speed, closing in on us at a visible pace.
Zhou Liang glanced back and decisively said, "You have a gun, you handle this!"
I rolled my eyes and was about to turn around and fire when I suddenly noticed that the monster chasing us had picked up a rock from the ground and thrown it at us.
What the hell is this?! Monsters can throw things now?!
The stone flew at high speed and hit Zhou Liang directly on the head.
Caught off guard, Zhou Liang let out a muffled groan, his eyes rolled back, and he fainted!
"Ah!" The girl was startled by Zhou Liang's sudden fainting and quickly stopped in her tracks.
"Zhou Liang!" I called out, but Zhou Liang didn't respond. He turned around and looked carefully behind him, and immediately realized that the person chasing him wasn't a monster at all, but a person! A living person!
The man's body and face were splattered with blood, and half of his face was twisted in a grotesque manner, as if it had been burned by flames.
That's why Zhou Liang and I mistook him for a monster!
But I don't understand. I've never even seen him before. Why would he attack us? Could it be because of this girl?
I raised my gun, but before I could pull the trigger, the other person threw a rock at me, hitting me squarely in the hand. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my hand, and the pistol fell to the ground.
The other person was only ten meters away from us, a very close distance. He was in front of me in just two or three steps, and I didn't even have a chance to pick up the gun!
