"My name is Pu Weichao," the crew-cut man said.
He was sitting on the sofa in the living room, with Liangzi and Fei Lichao staring at him and asking questions.
After I changed my clothes and came out, I heard him say his name.
"Why were you hiding in the closet before?" Fei Lichao asked, his tone calm but his eyes sharp.
"I'm scared. There were three of us who escaped here together, but one of my colleagues got held up by those man-eating monsters down below..."
When he said this, I paused, remembering what I had seen in the car earlier: a large group of monsters gathered together, and it looked like they were really eating people!
Moreover, the person who was eaten was very likely Pu Weichao's friend.
"Then my friend and I hid here, but I heard noises coming up from below. I thought it was those man-eating monsters, so my friend and I hid together. But I never expected... I never expected it to be living people," Pu Weichao said with a conflicted expression.
Wu Shuang came out after changing her clothes, looking much more refreshed.
Fei Lichao looked up at us and asked, "Are you all done?"
"Mm." I nodded.
"Liangzi, give him the bag," Fei Lichao said.
Liangzi handed me the bag full of things from the ground, and I asked curiously, "What's this?"
"There's some food and drinks inside, and an emergency first-aid kit. You can carry it," Liangzi said to me with a smile.
Pu Weichao, who was sitting on the sofa, looked at us and asked in surprise, "Are you leaving?"
"Yes, it's still light now, but once it gets dark, we won't be able to leave even if we want to," Fei Lichao said, checking the gun in his hand.
"Hey, wait, wait, wait! Didn't you see what's happening outside? It's full of man-eating monsters! How are we supposed to get out?" Pu Weichao stared wide-eyed.
Fei Lichao brandished the gun in his hand.
Liangzi said, "Don't worry, we have plenty of ammunition, and we don't plan to take the back route. I've checked the situation ahead, and we can fight our way out."
Pu Weichao looked conflicted and pointed at me and Wu Shuang, saying, "But... what about the rest of us? We don't have any guns."
“You can follow behind us without any problem,” Fei Lichao said.
"But, but what if?" Pu Weichao asked.
"So what do you want to do? Do you have a solution?" Fei Lichao asked, frowning, sounding a little impatient.
It's getting late, and if we delay any longer it will get dark.
Pu Weichao looked at us, nodded reluctantly, and said, "Yes, I guess so."
Fei Lichao stared at him with a questioning look and asked, "Tell me, if everyone thinks it's okay, then we'll listen to you."
Pu Weichao blinked, hurriedly glanced around the living room, walked to the window, looked at the situation outside, and said, "Actually, we can lure away those man-eating monsters outside, then we'll have a way to escape, right?"
We went to the window and saw that the roads in the neighborhood below were teeming with man-eating monsters, and that monsters were constantly coming in from the street outside.
Upon hearing this, Fei Lichao looked helpless and shook his head, saying, "Let's go, let's set off."
Pu Weichao stood at the window, stunned, and asked, "Hey, hey, hey, how are we supposed to leave if we don't distract them?"
Fei Lichao stared at him helplessly and said, "If you don't want to come with us, then stay here by yourself."
After he finished speaking, he turned around and went to the door.
Liangzi, looking embarrassed, said to Pu Weichao, "Well, actually our original plan was to use grenades to lure the monster away after we went down, so it was very safe."
Pu Weichao blinked, his face slightly red, and muttered under his breath, "Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Liangzi chuckled, walked to Fei Lichao's side, and said, "Captain, let me lead the way."
"Okay." Fei Lichao nodded, then stared at the three of us and said, "You three follow behind him. Remember, stay close. I'll be behind you to block the way."
Wu Shuang and I nodded. We were familiar with this method when we left the hospital before.
"Yes, yes." Pu Weichao ran up behind Liangzi and stood close to him.
I was about to set off again. I took a deep breath, suppressing the fear and tension in my heart.
Wu Shuang reached out and shook my hand. We looked at each other, and Wu Shuang said, "It'll be alright."
Liangzi looked through the peephole and didn't see anything unusual. He opened the security door and found no monsters outside the stairwell.
Liangzi walked out the door, gave us a gesture, and told us to follow closely behind.
Pu Weichao went out first, followed by Wu Shuang and me, with Fei Lichao trailing behind.
As I came out of the house, I glanced upstairs and saw a monster coming down, its roars echoing through the air, which startled Wu Shuang.
"You guys go quickly, I'll deal with this guy," Fei Lichao said, staring at the monster in the stairwell.
Wu Shuang and I didn't dare to look and followed Pu Weichao downstairs. We were on the third floor, and soon we arrived at the back door.
A short while later, the roaring sounds from upstairs stopped, and Fei Lichao came to our side. It seemed that he had already dealt with the monster upstairs.
Outside the back door, monsters swarmed, their roars sending chills down your spine.
Pu Weichao murmured, "These man-eating creatures are just like zombies..."
"Shut up," Fei Lichao hissed softly.
Pu Weichao obediently shut his mouth.
I do agree with him; these man-eating monsters are indeed like zombies in movies.
