At a distance of four or five hundred meters, the human eye naturally cannot see anything, but a telescope is different; it can see clearly enough.
The air-raid shelter I see right now is unacceptable to me.
The military vehicles that were originally surrounding the air-raid shelter have been overturned, revealing a large gap.
There were no more living people in the air-raid shelter; it was almost entirely occupied by monsters. Even from a great distance, I could hear the monsters roaring together.
"How...how could this be? The air-raid shelter...how could it, how could it have become like this?"
I have no answer in my heart, and I am in great pain.
I waited a whole week, and finally my leg injury was almost healed. I went through all the trouble to come back here, only to see this scene. I can't accept it.
I collapsed to the ground.
The air-raid shelter has become like this. What about Wu Shuang? What about Fei Lichao? What about Pu Weichao? How are they? And what about the survivors in the air-raid shelter?
My eyes darted around as I thought, "No, no, no, no! Given Fei Lichao's personality, he would never let the air-raid shelter end up like this. There must be something wrong. Could it be Yan Zhengfeng? That's possible, but I don't believe it!"
I stood up again, picked up the binoculars, and stared intently in the direction of the air-raid shelter.
Thinking to himself, "When we left before, Pu Weichao mentioned finding a safer place to resettle the people in the air-raid shelter, and Fei Lichao agreed. It's possible that Fei Lichao found a new place and took all the people from the air-raid shelter there, rendering the air-raid shelter useless."
Although I thought that way, I still couldn't suppress that fear.
I'm really afraid they've all died in the mouths of those monsters.
I stared intently at the air-raid shelter, hoping to spot someone familiar. Naturally, I didn't want to see anyone familiar among the monsters, but after a short while, I found someone I recognized.
A woman had been bitten on the shoulder, and almost all the flesh on her right arm was gone, leaving only a scarlet skeleton.
But her face was intact, so I recognized her immediately.
When I was still in the air-raid shelter, someone snatched the food from this woman's hands, so I gave her half of mine.
I never imagined she was already dead.
Upon seeing her, I panicked and continued my search.
In no time, I found another acquaintance.
Fei Lichao's superior, the battalion commander, was also dead. He was still wearing his camouflage uniform, and half of his cheek had been bitten off.
I had performed an appendectomy on him before, but he still died.
Despair began to creep into my heart.
Before the battalion commander underwent appendectomy, Fei Lichao threatened me that I must cure him, which shows how important the battalion commander was to Fei Lichao.
Now that the battalion commander is dead in the air-raid shelter, what about Fei Lichao? Could he be dead too?
For the next half hour, I searched for familiar faces among the monsters. I found many, but they were all Pingming from the air-raid shelter, along with a few soldiers. Fei Lichao, Pu Weichao, and Wu Shuang were not among them.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, I began to feel fear. Were they still alive?
"You must live, you must live." I prayed silently in my heart.
The sun was already slightly setting in the west, and I took my binoculars and walked downstairs.
Back on the second floor, I collapsed to the floor as soon as I entered the room, completely bewildered.
I don't know what to do next, and I don't know whether I should go to them.
If they are still alive, there might be a glimmer of hope if I go looking for them. But what if they are already dead? What can I possibly look for then?
But if I don't contact them, what else can I do?
Should I go home? Wutong City is so far from Hangzhou, I'm afraid I'll die on the way there.
After much thought, I finally decided to go find them.
Regardless, I always held onto a sliver of hope that they were still alive.
"Since I'm going to find them, I can't just sit around doing nothing." I made up my mind, glanced at the room in front of me, and started packing my things, taking all the food I could find.
...
It took me half an hour to pack the food from inside the house into another backpack and put it in the car downstairs.
Then I came up again to see if I could pry open those security doors.
When I got to the third floor, I tried to pry open the security door, but it was impossible. The upper floors also had security doors. After wandering around for a while, I went back downstairs.
The things in my backpack are enough to eat for several days. I'll look for more when I run out.
When I got downstairs to the back door, I took out my keys from my pocket and prepared to get into the car.
But just then, I saw a figure in the car!
At first I thought a monster had crawled into the car, but when I stared at it, I realized it was rummaging through my backpack—it was a living person!
"Hey!" I called out.
The person in the car turned their head and immediately made eye contact with me.
A hint of panic flashed in his eyes. Clutching my backpack in his hand, he stepped out of the car and ran out of the residential area without a second thought.
I stared, holding the axe in my hand, utterly shocked.
Damn it, I actually ran into a living person here, and this bastard even stole my stuff!
Depend on!
I got into the car without hesitation, started the engine and began to reverse. A moment later, I was out of the back gate of the community, ran over two monsters, and came to the street. I stepped on the gas and chased after them!
When the kid saw me move in, he grabbed my backpack, turned around, and went into the narrow alley.
