He threw punches haphazardly, hitting my cheeks and chest until they hurt.
"Calm down, okay!" I shouted.
"Get out of my way! I need to find my dad! I need to go..."
He was halfway through his sentence when I let go of him and slapped him across the face in front of everyone.
Snap!
After the slap landed, he fell silent and stood there stunned.
Everyone inside the house ran out, and when they saw me make a move, they were all stunned.
Zhong Linyun covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face.
I feel no guilt whatsoever. This kid has gone mad. If I don't take drastic measures, he might do something even more terrifying.
I stared at him, grabbed his school uniform collar, and snapped, "You want to go find your dad, huh? Fine, go ahead and try it outside! Do you think you're so tough that those zombies outside are no match for you, that you can just chop them up with an axe and kill them?"
I loosened his collar, walked into the bushes, picked up the axe again, came up to him, handed it to him, and said angrily, "Take it. Didn't you want to go? I won't stop you now. Take the axe and go out. Let's see if you can kill a zombie."
His eyes were filled with tears as he glared at me angrily. He snatched the axe and walked outside.
"Lu Xiaonan, what are you doing? Stop him!" Li Qiming shouted angrily from behind. Not only him, but everyone else was also very worried.
I ignored Li Qiming, stared at his back, and said, "Zhong Linxuan, listen up, once you step out of this door, none of us will help you. Even if you get bitten to death by those zombies outside, we won't care. Think it over carefully. What will happen to your sister if you die? Do you want her to lose both her father and brother in one day?"
Upon hearing this, Zhong Linxuan stopped in his tracks, his back trembling.
Seeing him stop, I breathed a sigh of relief. This kid was really hard to deal with; luckily, my provocation worked. If he had actually run away, things would have been much worse.
"Awooo!" The monster outside suddenly pounced on the kindergarten gate, startling Zhong Linxuan who was in a daze.
He took two steps back, fell to the ground, and dropped the axe in his hand with a clatter. He sat there and began to cry.
His sister ran over and hugged him tightly. The two siblings cried their hearts out in the yard.
I walked over to them, picked up the axe, said nothing, and returned to the classroom door.
Li Qiming looked at the two siblings with a pained expression and said, "Shall we go out and look for them tomorrow?"
I turned to look at him, my mind completely blank.
