(First update of the day)
Once inside the courtyard, Zhong Linxuan continued to hurl insults.
Holding a bag of Oreo cookies and a bottle of water, I approached them and said, "Okay, stop yelling. Eat something first, then you can yell again."
When Zhou Zhengnan saw me coming, he went back to be with his wife.
Zhong Linyun reached out to take the biscuit, but her brother Zhong Linxuan slapped it out of her hand, crying and yelling, "I won't eat what that bastard brought! He killed my dad!"
I sighed inwardly, picked up the biscuit from the ground, and wasn't too angry. After all, this kid was just a high school student, and it was normal for him to have a temper, especially since his father had gotten into trouble.
“I know you’re feeling bad and don’t want to eat, but your sister is hungry. You can’t let her go hungry with you, can you?”
I dusted off the packaging and handed it to his sister.
Zhong Linyun took the biscuit, opened it, took out a biscuit and ate one. Zhong Linxuan saw this, swallowed hard, and felt very hungry and craving it.
Looking at his expression, I said, "Young man, Li Qiming didn't kill your father. What he said is true, and I can assure you of that."
Zhong Linxuan glared at him angrily, "How do you know? You didn't go! Besides, even a fool could tell that what he said about the two soldiers was made up!"
I remained calm and said, "He wasn't making it up. I met those two soldiers when I was in the hospital, and I almost died at their hands."
Zhong Linxuan was stunned for a moment, then quickly shook his head and said, "I don't believe it, you must be lying to me!"
I looked him straight in the eyes and said, "Do you think I would need to lie to you?"
Zhong Linxuan was speechless for a moment.
I continued, "Furthermore, Li Qiming just said that after your father was bitten, he was taken away by those two soldiers. Maybe your father isn't dead yet, or maybe those two soldiers rescued him?"
Tears streamed down Zhong Linxuan's face as he sobbed, "But, but he just said those two soldiers weren't good people! They even shot at my dad!"
I said, "I know, but think about it, why didn't those two soldiers shoot your dad after he was bitten? Instead, they took him away. That means your dad was useful to those two soldiers, so it's possible that your dad is still alive, understand?"
Zhong Linxuan's eyes trembled, and he was beginning to believe my words.
I glanced at my younger sister beside me. She looked distressed, and her eyes were brimming with tears, though they didn't fall.
I patted Zhong Linxuan on the shoulder and said, "Let's eat something first, then we'll talk."
"Okay." Zhong Linxuan listened to me and started eating.
There are some things I don't understand about Zhong Jianzhou's situation. For example, why did those two soldiers shoot at a living person? And why did they take Zhong Jianzhou away after he was bitten?
There were many doubts here. I looked at Li Qiming, who was still resting, and wondered if what he said was true.
Time flies, and it's already 4:30 in the afternoon.
Li Qiming brought a lot of things; it should last until tomorrow night.
The Zhong siblings were leaning against the corner, seemingly lost in thought.
Li Qiming looked at the two of them, sighed, and said to me, "Old Zhong is dead. I don't know what will happen to his two children now."
It is highly likely that Zhong Jianzhou is dead, after all, he was bitten by a monster.
I said, "They're not children, they'll understand."
Li Qiming turned to me and asked, "Do you think Lao Zhong might still be alive?"
I frowned and thought for a long time before saying, "That's possible."
I'm only saying this out of hope; that's what I was thinking when I comforted Zhong Linxuan.
"But thinking about it, there's no way he could have survived. I saw Lao Zhong get bitten with my own eyes." Li Qiming shook his head and said, "Sigh, I should have rushed out and pulled Lao Zhong out of there."
I shook my head slightly. What's past is past, and there's no use in regretting it.
The sun was setting sharply in the west, and it was getting dark.
At this moment, Zhong Linxuan stood up from the corner across the street, pulled his sister to us, and said with a resolute expression, "I'm going to find my dad."
Upon hearing this, Li Qiming lost his composure and stood up, saying, "What did you say?"
Zhong Linxuan said excitedly, "I said I want to go find my dad!"
Li Qiming frowned and said, "What's wrong with you?"
Zhong Linxuan said unhappily, "I can't go crazy! Dr. Lu told me before that my dad might still be alive, so I have to go find him!"
Li Qiming turned his head and glared at me.
I rolled my eyes. I was just trying to comfort him, who knew this kid would take it so seriously!
It's also my fault; I spoke too decisively.
Li Qiming said, "Xiao Xuan, your father has been captured, but he was also bitten by the zombies outside. His chances of surviving are very, very small."
Zhong Linxuan glared at Li Qiming and said angrily, "I don't care, as long as there's a chance, I'm going to find my dad. If you don't want to come with me, then I'll go by myself!"
After saying that, he shook off his sister's hand, grabbed an axe from the side, and rushed toward the kindergarten gate.
"Xiao Xuan!" Li Qiming called out.
"Hey! Stop right there!" I shouted and decisively chased after him.
When I got into the yard, I tackled him to the ground, snatched the axe from his hand, and threw it onto the grass.
I grabbed him from the ground, and he struggled fiercely: "Let go! I need to find my dad! You said my dad might still be alive!"
