Chapter 475 Coma

Two days later, on a peaceful day.

In the past two days, no raiders have appeared, and life has returned to normal. It seems that Ye Qian's words have already spread. From now on, this research institute is officially Ye Qian's territory.

We've found a great tree to shelter under, a place where we can live peacefully and comfortably.

Today is the day I promised my younger sister I'd come home, so I plan to take her home today.

If all goes well, I can return today. If things are slower, I should be able to return tomorrow. If it's any slower, then I might have encountered some trouble and might not be able to return at all.

It's 8:30 in the morning. I've just finished getting ready. The car is full of gas, the spare gas is ready, and I've also prepared food and drinks for the journey, as well as guns, ammunition, knives, and other supplies.

Now we're just waiting to set off.

Jingjie asked, "Isn't it too dangerous for just the two of you to go back?"

I said, "Don't worry, Sister Jing, I know what I'm doing and I know what to do."

Song Muyuan said, "Brother Lu, why don't I go with you?"

I shook my head and said, "No need. I estimate I'll be back as early as tonight, maybe tomorrow at the latest. If I'm not back by tomorrow, you should go and get the reply from the central town. You know what to say anyway."

Sister Jing said, "If you go back to Wutong City, you must be very careful. We don't know what the situation is like in Wutong City. When we went there last time, there were troops there. If the entire Wutong City is now under the control of the army, you must be extremely careful."

I said, "Well, if we can't get in, I won't force it."

Fei Lichao walked over and punched me, saying, "Be careful, don't get hurt, you know?"

"Know."

And so, after giving each other some words of advice, my younger sister and I set off from the research institute and headed towards Wutong City.

The younger sister sat in the passenger seat with the window half open, letting the wind outside blow on her face.

I really want to talk to her, but I don't know what to talk about. When we were little, we always had so much to talk about. Even back then, she was already quite lively.

But after we went to university, we had less contact with each other. We could only see each other a few times during the Chinese New Year, and we hardly saw each other at other times. So over time, our relationship became much more distant.

It was very quiet along the way.

It was quiet inside the car, and it was quiet outside as well.

I don't know where all the zombies went; I didn't see many zombies along the way.

"Brother, look, there seems to be a living person over there."

My younger sister suddenly said something that surprised me.

I asked instinctively, "Where?"

The younger sister pointed to the bushes not far away. I turned my head and looked over, and found that there was indeed a person carrying a bag and holding a stick walking in the weeds.

He seemed to see us, and then waved to us.

I ignored him and kept driving.

The younger woman, seeing that I hadn't stopped, looked puzzled and asked, "Why don't you stop and help him?"

I said, "I don't have the ability to help him."

The younger sister didn't ask me why, but just said "oh" and stopped talking.

I glanced at my younger sister and asked, "Why don't you ask me why I didn't help him?"

The younger sister said, "Because I know we can't help him. Even if we stop the car and help him, we can't take him with us."

I was a little stunned; I hadn't expected my little sister to be so insightful.

But none of that matters. The important thing is that my little sister finally spoke to me! For the past few days, she has been hiding in her room, only coming out to eat. Otherwise, she basically doesn't come out to talk to anyone.

Lu Yun and the little girl both went to look for her, but after exchanging only a few words, they came out of the little sister's room. The reason was simple: the little sister ignored them completely.

It seems that going home has really helped her open up a bit.

The younger sister continued, "Brother, do you think I'm being very rude?"

"Hmm? Why do you say that?"

The younger sister said, "Because these past two days, when they came to chat with me, I didn't speak to them at all. Don't you think I'm being a bad person?"

I said, "You can't say that. After all what you've been through, it's normal that you don't want to talk to people."

My younger sister turned to look at me and said, "Brother, actually, I'm not afraid of this. The reason I haven't spoken these past few days isn't because of this."

I was stunned, almost losing my grip on the steering wheel, and asked in surprise, "Not because of this? Then what is it because of?"

The younger sister fell silent, her eyes dimming. After a long while, she finally spoke: "Because they're all dead! Everyone is dead, and I'm the only one who survived. What's the point of me living like this?"

I frowned, thinking she didn't have any psychological problems, but her words made me even more worried.

Instead of asking her directly who died, I asked, "Can you tell me what exactly happened?"

The younger sister said, "A lot has happened, from the beginning at school to all the things that happened later. I was very confused and didn't know what to do. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have survived. But they are all dead, and I'm still alive. Why is that?"

My younger sister didn't answer my question; she seemed lost in her own thoughts.

I said, "Don't overthink it. You still have me. I'm your brother, and I'll definitely protect you from now on."

The younger sister looked at me with a cruel look in her eyes for some reason. "But others died to protect me, but I don't need anyone's protection at all."

I frowned, not understanding what he meant.

I reached out and held her hand, saying, "Don't overthink it, it's all in the past."

The younger sister nodded calmly. "Yes, it's all in the past. They're all dead, and I'm the only one still alive."

I didn't dare show anything on my face, but I was worried. I thought it was a good thing that my little sister started talking, but now it seems that she has a more serious problem inside.

If we let her continue like this, I reckon she'll probably go crazy!

I held her hand tightly as the car moved forward smoothly.

Before long, the younger sister became quiet and withdrawn again, resting her head against the car window with vacant eyes, and it was unclear what she was thinking.

Hopefully, this girl won't overthink it.

First, I need to find out exactly what happened to her, otherwise, I really can't help her.

Sigh, to be honest, I'm not a psychologist, so I don't know how to provide her with psychological counseling.
