Chapter 476 Confusion

The rest of the journey went smoothly, and we didn't encounter any hordes of zombies along the way. After about two hours, we were now only one-fifth of the way from Wutong City.

After speaking earlier, the younger sister remained mostly silent.

Judging from her expression, she's probably still feeling guilty.

Unfortunately, I didn't know what had happened to her. If I had, her situation might have been resolved.

We're almost at Wutong City. I don't know the situation there, but I hope there aren't any guards around the edges. I doubt there are any guards, since Wutong City is a city, not just a town or a street. So I guess the edges of Wutong City aren't being watched.

"Brother, are we almost home?" the younger sister suddenly asked.

I glanced at my younger sister and noticed she was staring out the car window. "Yeah, we're almost there."

The younger sister asked, "Brother, have you been home?"

I said, "I went back, but my parents have been gone for a long time, and I don't know if they are still alive."

The younger sister asked, "Do you want them to live?"

I nodded and said, "Of course I hope so. No matter what, there's always some hope in living, but if you die, there's really no hope left."

The younger sister said, "But in this world, isn't living more tiring? It's better to be dead and have peace of mind. After you die, you don't have to think about anything."

My eyes were serious as I said, "Don't think like that. I estimate this zombie crisis won't last long. Many of these zombies are already rotting. Once they start rotting, they won't be far from death. Once they're all dead, we'll be much safer."

"But with so many zombies, when will they all die?" the younger sister asked.

I said, "It will take at least a year or two if things go quickly, and three or four years if things go slowly. It depends on the specific circumstances. It has been ten months since the zombie outbreak. When I first came from Hangzhou, there were zombies everywhere. But since the beginning of summer, the number of zombies has started to decrease."

My little sister looked at me and asked, "Brother, if I ever turn into a zombie, please don't kill me, okay?"

I didn't answer her question. "I won't let you turn into a zombie."

The younger sister said, "But I will die someday."

I said, "Yes, you will die someday, but I hope you die of old age, not from being bitten by zombies!"

The younger sister said, "Brother, why do you insist on keeping me alive? You have so many people around you, you're not really alone. Whether I'm by your side or not, it doesn't really make any difference."

*Sizzle*

I slammed on the brakes, and the car came to a stop right on the road. I turned to look at my younger sister, whose lifeless eyes and indifferent face looked terrifying.

To be honest, I can't stand my younger sister's negative attitude anymore.

I stared into her eyes and asked, "Little sister, tell me, what exactly happened? Why do you think this way? How did your friends die? Tell me!"

The younger sister chuckled and said, "I killed them all, hehe."

Her soft chuckle sent chills down my spine.

It seems that something terrible has really happened to my younger sister, otherwise she wouldn't have become such an extreme person. What exactly happened that caused her such a big blow?

Just as I was wondering, my younger sister reached out from behind me, and in her hand was a dagger!

I had no idea where she had stolen the dagger from. I frowned and asked, "Little sister, what are you going to do?"

The younger sister stared at me blankly, holding a knife in her hand, and said, "They're all dead, and I'm the only one still alive. What's the point? I promised them I'd die with them."

Before she could finish speaking, she suddenly took the dagger in her hand and stabbed it into her stomach.

I was horrified when I saw this. I immediately reached out and grabbed her wrist, then grabbed the blade with my other hand and forcibly took the dagger from her. Of course, inevitably, my hand was cut by the blade and bled.

But that's not the point. The real issue is that the younger sister is now contemplating suicide!

After I threw the knife behind me, the girl actually lunged backward, trying to grab it.

Seeing this, my heart ached. Helpless, I struck her on the back of the neck with a palm strike, and the girl fainted.

I put her in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and only after confirming that she wouldn't wake up anytime soon did I quickly bandage my hand before continuing my journey to Wutong City.

On the road.

I don't understand.

Why did this girl commit suicide? And who exactly are these "them" she's talking about?

What exactly happened to my little sister?

I don't understand any of this. Now my little sister is in this state again. I really don't know if she can get better after we get to Wutong City.

I'm starting to suspect that this girl tricked me into coming out so she could commit suicide.

This is such a hassle!

A dozen minutes later, I found myself near the southernmost train station in Wutong City. A few kilometers further north was the city proper. Looking at my younger sister, who was still unconscious, I really didn't know what to do.

But since she wants to go home, let's take her home first.

I continued driving, and after entering the city area, there were more zombies around, and more abandoned vehicles on the roadside.

After passing several traffic lights, I arrived at my residential area.

My younger sister's home is not far from mine; it's in the same residential complex, but mine is on the edge, while hers is deeper inside.

After a few minutes of circling around the alleys of the neighborhood, we finally arrived at the back door of my younger sister's house.

I went upstairs to check the situation and found that there were no zombies in my sister's house or in the hallway. The place was very clean, and there wasn't even any blood.

So I went downstairs, carried my unconscious little sister upstairs, went into her bedroom, and put her on her old bed.

Just to be safe, I checked all the rooms in the house again, and only after confirming that there were no zombies did I feel relieved.

I went back to my younger sister's room and waited for a minute or two.

My little sister woke up.

When she saw me, her eyes were filled with confusion.

"You're awake," I said.

The younger sister got out of bed, saw the familiar surroundings, and asked, "Am I at home?"

I nodded and said, "Yes, you're at home."

The younger sister got out of bed, left her room, and went to the living room, searching around, seemingly looking for something.

I said, "I've searched, there's no one here, and no zombies either."
