Chapter 63 A Narrow Escape

(Starting today, updates will resume at three times a day)

I'm very worried about the current situation. Originally, I just wanted to take Wu Shuang away in the chaos. As for Zhang Jianzhou, it doesn't matter. If we meet again in the future, I'll avenge Zhou Yang!

But now, Zhang Jianzhou has a gun pointed at my head, and he could kill me at any moment!

Zhang Jianzhou glanced at the submachine gun in my hand and snatched it away.

He said, "Tell me, should I just shoot you right now, or use you as an experiment?"

I sneered: "What kind of experiments can you do? Antibody experiments? Do you really think I'll believe what you're saying? You know in your heart that you can't develop any antibodies; you're just fooling yourself!"

Zhang Jianzhou glared at him: "You don't know anything!"

I said, "Yes, I don't understand. If I did, Zhou Yang wouldn't have died!"

Zhang Jianzhou, his face full of impatience, roared, "Zhou **** Yang Zhou Yang, are you gay with Zhou Yang? He's dead and you still care about him so much!"

I didn't say anything.

Zhang Jianzhou stared at me impatiently, then looked at Wu Shuang in the glass room and said, "I know you came here to save her. Here's what I'll do: I'll give you a chance. I'll go and release her, and then I'll take pity on you both and send you on your way together. How about that?"

Looking at Wu Shuang's worried face in the glass room, I knew what Zhang Jianzhou wanted to do, and immediately said, "I advise you to shoot me right now, otherwise you'll be the one who dies later!"

Zhang Jianzhou's gaze fell on my face. "Where do you get your confidence from?"

What do you think?

Zhang Jianzhou smiled contemptuously and said, "Fine, I'll grant your wish now and shoot you dead!"

He pressed the gun barrel right against my forehead, his finger on the trigger, ready to fire at any moment.

My face remained expressionless, but inside I was terrified.

It would be a lie to say I'm not afraid of death! I can clearly feel that the clothes on my back are soaked with cold sweat.

"No!" Wu Shuang's shout suddenly came from inside the glass room.

Zhang Jianzhou looked up and sneered, "What, you can't bear to part with him..."

Now!

While his attention was drawn to Wu Shuang, I raised my hand and grabbed his wrist, then quickly took a step forward, almost touching his body.

Zhang Jianzhou was startled by my sudden action.

I gripped the pistol in his hand, veins bulging on my forehead, and with all my might, I kept pushing the muzzle against his head.

Just when success seemed imminent, the submachine gun in his other hand suddenly pressed against my waist.

My heart skipped a beat, and without hesitation, I pulled the trigger of the pistol!

Bang!

With a loud bang, the bullet struck his left ear, leaving it a bloody mess.

"Ah!" Zhang Jianzhou threw down his pistol, covered his ears, and cried out in terror, "My ears! My ears!"

The gunshot was very loud, and since I was very close to Zhang Jianzhou, the sound almost ruptured my eardrums! I shook my dizzy head, picked up the pistol that had fallen to the ground, aimed it at Zhang Jianzhou, and pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

I fired all five bullets left in the pistol. Zhang Jianzhou stared at me with wide eyes, blood still flowing from the five holes in his body.

However, Zhang Jianzhou was still alive at this time!

He raised his submachine gun and pointed it at me. I panicked and didn't dare to move.

Fortunately, he died at the last moment before he tried to pull the trigger. The gun in his hand fell to the ground, and he died completely in a state of relaxation.

I closed my eyes, breathed a sigh of relief, and my body went limp, causing me to kneel on the ground.

"Xiaonan, Xiaonan, are you alright?"

I stared at Zhang Jianzhou's body and waved my hand to indicate that everything was alright.

That bastard is finally dead.

After resting for a few seconds, he got up again, went to Zhang Jianzhou's body, took the ID card from his body, went to the glass room door, swiped the card, and the door opened.

Wu Shuang pushed open the door, stretched out her arms and hugged me, pressing her head against my chest.

I gave a wry smile: "Don't do that, I'm covered in blood."

Wu Shuang let go of me and asked with heartache, "Are you alright?"

I smiled and said, "Great. Let's go, it's time to get out of this awful place."

"Mm." Wu Shuang nodded.

I took a blanket from the side and draped it over her. It was warm here, but cold outside.

I put my arm around her shoulder, ready to leave, when Wu Shuang said, "Wait, I forgot something."

"What is it?" I asked curiously.

Wu Shuang ran to Zhang Jianzhou's body, hesitated for a moment, and finally took a watch from his left wrist. He then ran back and said, "This is it. After I was captured, they took all my things, including this watch from that bastard Zhang Jianzhou."

I chuckled. "It's back in your hands now, let's go."

I grabbed my submachine gun, opened the lab door, peered outside, and seeing that there was no one there, I grabbed Wu Shuang and we ran away.

I ran towards the stairs to the west.

After all, the staircase on the east side is full of monsters, and it's not safe regardless of whether those monsters have been killed or not.

As for the west, it's safe as long as those soldiers don't show up.

I pulled Wu Shuang to the west stairwell, quietly pushed open the door, and peeked into the stairwell.

The blood-red overcoat I threw on the stairs is still there, and the soldier I knocked unconscious is still lying in the stairwell.
