Finally, they passed through a corridor and came to a dilapidated door. She gently pushed the door open, and a stale and decayed smell hit her face.
Everyone stepped cautiously into the house, their relaxed expressions instantly frozen on their faces. Their eyes widened, and their mouths involuntarily opened as if an egg could fit in. Although the sun was shining brightly outside, it felt like another world, a mysterious and oppressive atmosphere overwhelming them.
As if cast under a spell, the room was plunged into endless darkness, with not a single ray of light able to penetrate the tightly closed windows. This stark contrast to the brightness outside was a source of fear and unease.
Especially for the group of people who were just in the sun and suddenly entered such a completely dark space, the strong visual contrast made it almost impossible for them to adapt.
What made them even more unbearable was the pungent smell of mold in the air, mixed with an indescribable stench, which was truly disgusting.
One of my companions walked around the house and finally found a window. He tried to open it to ventilate the room, but after pushing it a few times, he found that the window had already been sealed with thick wooden boards and could not be opened.
