Volume 1: Hidden Conspiracy and Planning, Chapter 34

The two ghostly soldiers stared at each other, then looked at the group of ghosts and couldn't help but gasp.

"Holy crap, there are so many ghosts here! Is this some kind of party or something?!"

Upon hearing this, the master's face turned almost green with anger: "You're asking me what's going on? Isn't this your territory?"

The two ghostly soldiers kept muttering, "Our territory my ass! You beat us up on our own turf..."

The master gave them a single glance, and the two ghost soldiers were so frightened that they immediately stopped talking, then resumed their speech:

"Neither of us brothers sensed any new yin energy in this area. This hospital used to be the busiest place, and we always had to come here."

"I haven't been paying much attention lately, and I didn't expect so many ghosts to gather here without being taken away."

The master immediately sensed something was wrong: "You mean, even you didn't sense their presence?"

The two ghostly soldiers nodded hurriedly: "Yes, how could we dare to lie to you? We really didn't feel anything."

"It was only after entering the hospital that I could feel the strong yin energy here."

Upon hearing this, the master rested his chin on his hand and began to think.

After a moment, as if remembering something, he said, "Come with me."

The five of us, along with two ghost soldiers, followed our master out of the hospital.

As soon as they stepped out of the hospital, Master's expression turned strange. He then opened the door again, went back into the hospital, and his brows furrowed even more deeply.

He then left the hospital again and asked the two Yin soldiers beside him, "Can you still feel the presence of Yin energy?"

The two ghostly soldiers stood there, and after a few seconds, they shook their heads: "No, we can't feel it anymore. It's strange, we could feel it in the hospital just now."

Suddenly, the master's eyes lit up: "I know! A Yin-avoiding formation! This hospital has been set up with a Yin-avoiding formation!"

I couldn't help but ask, "Master, what is the Yin-Avoiding Formation, and what is it used for?"

My master began to explain to me: "The Yin-Avoiding Array, as the name suggests, is an array that avoids the detection of Yin energy. It requires placing eight identical objects with extremely heavy Yin energy in eight different locations, and then combining them with incantations to set up this Yin-Avoiding Array!"

"This formation has the effect of disrupting the yin energy magnetic field and interfering with the perception of aura. It is the simplest and most convenient formation."

"I just can't figure out who would set up this kind of formation here?"

"Come with me."

We then arrived at the hospital's east gate. There wasn't a lot of foot traffic there during the day; most patients entered through the west gate.

The master arrived at an open area, picked up a wisp of weed from the ground, and rubbed it between his fingers: "This should be the place. Dig up the soil around here, not too deep, about ten centimeters, and see if there's anything there."

Upon hearing their master's instructions, Zhang Xiaoying's team members immediately pulled out their entrenching tools and began searching the ground.

Finally, two minutes later, one of the team members handed a nail, which was more than ten centimeters long, to his master.

The master took the nail, looked at it, and smelled it before saying, "That's it, it's a coffin nail, a used coffin nail."

"It seems to be just as I expected. Let's dig out the nails from other places as well."

Subsequently, we found a coffin nail in each of the following directions: south, west, north, southeast, northeast, southwest, and northwest of the hospital.

The master stared at the handful of nails, his expression turning cold: "A petty trick. Since that person did this, he must have had his purpose. It seems some people don't want a peaceful life."

When I heard my master say that, I also thought of that Manager Dong and the evil sect. Was it a coincidence? Or was it an inevitable result?

Ever since we dug out the coffin nails and broke the formation, I've been able to vaguely sense the yin energy of the ghosts in the basement.

My master looked at me and followed my gaze, but he showed a puzzled expression and didn't say anything.

"Master, why are these coffin nails buried in so many places? Is there any special meaning behind it?"

When my master heard me ask him, he explained to me: "These eight directions correspond to the eight fixed locations of the terrain, and also to the directions of the twelve earthly branches."

"The southeast, northwest, and south directions also correspond to the earthly branches Mao, Wu, You, and Zi respectively."

"Chou and Yin represent the Northeast, Chen and Si represent the Southeast, Wei and Shen represent the Southwest, and Xu and Hai represent the Northwest."

The twelve Earthly Branches also reflect the ten Heavenly Stems, which correspond to the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth) and contain all the truths of this world.

However, it is clear that the other party does not have that level of skill; they may only know the basics and can only use such low-level methods.

Listening to my master's explanation, I felt that this thing was too wonderful, and at the same time I was amazed by my master's level of expertise.

In some ways, my master was a man of both literary and martial talents.

I also feel that there is still so much I need to learn from my master.

This expectation will eventually become a driving force, propelling me to continuously explore and improve.

With the Yin-avoiding formation broken, the truth about this matter has finally come to light.

The master told the two ghost soldiers that once they brought the group of ghosts back to the underworld, the matter would be considered resolved.

After everything was over, Zhang Xiaoying led her team back to report.

It was already past midnight. I didn't realize it at the time, but after everything was over, I just felt more and more sleepy.

My master told me to lie down and rest in the back seat of the car while he drove, keeping the car very stable the whole way.

I remembered the two ghostly soldiers and curiously looked at my master who was driving: "Master, you hit those two ghostly soldiers, won't they go back and complain, and then come back to take revenge on you?"

My mentor, who was driving, heard me ask that question and burst out laughing: "Hahahaha, look at other people who are bullied at school, how many of them dare to tell the teacher?"

"As long as they are not pushed too far, things will not escalate to the point of no return."

"Besides, I helped them resolve the hospital issue, and those ghosts were all part of their achievements. Letting them take all the credit is something they'd be grateful for, so why would they expose this kind of thing?"

I thought about it carefully, and it makes sense. After all, ghosts are transformed from humans. Just how thorough is Master's understanding of human nature!

Speaking of school bullying, wasn't Xixi a prime example?

Just as Master said, if they hadn't been pushed too hard, Xixi wouldn't have taken that action, and Xixi wouldn't have changed so drastically.

Thinking of this, my pupils contracted sharply. Since Master used this example, it meant that Master already knew? The past of Xixi...

I didn't ask, because none of it mattered.

The past is the past, and what we must face is the unknown and challenging future!

It's been a month since I last saw Xixi. I wonder how she's doing...
