Volume 1 Hidden Conspiracy, Chapter 35

"Xiao Xi, Xiao Xi..."

I heard a familiar voice beside me and slowly opened my eyes.

Before me was the interior of the car, its roof, and the whooshing sound of its wheels rubbing against the ground.

I rubbed my eyes and looked at my mentor in the driver's seat: "Mentor, you called me? I just fell asleep..."

Master spoke in his usual kind tone: "You've had a long day, it's normal to fall asleep. We're almost at the antique shop. Where is your apartment? I'll take you back."

"Rest well at home, and come to Master's temple when you have time."

I rubbed my sleepy eyes, hummed in agreement, and told my master my address.

My master was taken aback when he heard my address, but he simply said he understood and then drove to my place.

Before long, I arrived at the building where I lived. I swiped my access card, said goodbye to my master, and went upstairs.

When I got upstairs, I took out my key and opened the door. As soon as I entered the room, I saw Wu Shiwang holding a steaming hot meal on the table in the living room.

We looked at each other, both completely bewildered: "Why are you still awake so late?"

Why are you so late coming home?

Wu Shi and I spoke at almost the same time.

It was then that I remembered that when we first came to see the house, Wu Shi had said that he was basically not home at night, so he was probably on holiday today.

I casually replied, "Oh, I was busy with some things, so I got back a little late."

Wu Shi looked at me, but didn't say anything. He then asked me, "Come and eat something. I just made this meal, and I can't finish it all by myself."

I was just about to tell him I wasn't hungry when my stomach let out a wretched roar.

I could feel my cheeks getting hot, they were definitely red, I couldn't be more embarrassed than this!

I could only reluctantly put down my bag, change my shoes, wash my hands, and sit down at the dining table.

Wu Shisheng prepared a bowl of rice and handed it to me. I thanked him and then quietly began to eat.

I must say, Wu Shi's cooking was quite to my liking, but I won't say that.

The atmosphere must have been too quiet, so Wu Shi started to find topics to talk about and chatted with me casually.

I also felt the silence was a bit strange, so I started chatting with Wu Shi.

Actually, I don't dislike Wu Shi. In my opinion, he's easier to get along with than most guys.

He is humble and low-key, polite to others, and unassuming. He also maintains a good sense of proportion and acts with great tact.

But when I brought up his work, he deliberately changed the subject, seemingly not wanting me to know about it.

I also guessed that it might be some low-paying job, or some job that isn't very respectable, otherwise there would be no need to deliberately hide it.

However, everyone has their own secrets, and of course I do too. If I cross too many boundaries, then I am in the wrong.

After I finished eating, Wu Shi and I washed the dishes, said goodbye, and went back to my room to sleep.

I went into the room and collapsed onto the bed; I was just too tired.

My vision went black, my mind went blank, and in a daze, I seemed to see this scene.

The master clenched his fists, threatening the two ghost soldiers, who then tremblingly held spoons and fed Wu Shi and Xi Xi, even opening their mouths wide and making "ah" sounds.

I burst out laughing when I saw this, so I went up to them and asked what they were doing.

The master said that Wu Shi and Xi Xi, these two little babies, weren't eating well, so he should find two teachers to watch them...

As I laughed, the scene changed again. Everyone around me disappeared, and in its place came Manager Dong's cold laughter: "Didn't expect that, did you? That I'd be able to get out of here one day!"

"Give me your blood now, I need your blood!"

Then it revealed its ferocious face and pounced on me!

I intended to subdue him with my Sanda skills, but I felt my arms were limp and I had no strength at all.

I want to run, but I feel like I can't run fast at all.

Just then, Manager Dong arrived beside me, opening his blood-red mouth to bite me. Suddenly, a nail more than a meter long pierced through Manager Dong's chest from the sky.

Manager Dong disappeared, and Zhang Xiaoying leaped down from the sky, standing atop the giant nail.

I reached out and touched the huge nail, only to find that it was getting smaller and smaller, and at the same time, it was adjusting its angle.

And just like that, the nail was suspended in mid-air, and suddenly, it pierced towards my eye!

This happened so fast, I couldn't react in time, and the nail pierced my left eye.

My eyes gradually turned blood red, then pitch black, and then became foggy, as if I couldn't see anything clearly anymore.

I covered my eyes in fear, but found that I felt no pain at all.

Then, I felt a bright light in front of me, a light that was so bright and intense.

It was so bright I couldn't open my eyes, but I stubbornly forced my eyes open to the sun.

"Ah!~"

I let out a gasp, not for any other reason than that, as soon as I opened my eyes, the intense sunlight shone directly into them.

I sat up abruptly and realized that I hadn't taken off my clothes; that's how I fell asleep last night.

The moment I opened my eyes, I was facing the midday sun, which stung my eyes and made them water uncontrollably.

Hearing my exclamation, Wu Shi knocked on my door: "What's wrong, Chen Xi? What happened? I just heard you shouting from next door."

I yelled, "It's nothing, it's nothing. I just opened my eyes and the sunlight hurt them."

Wu Shi, who was outside the door, replied, "Oh, I thought something had happened. It's good that nothing's wrong. Just call me if there are any problems."

"Okay, thanks," I replied.

I picked up my phone from the bedside table and checked the time; it was already past one in the afternoon.

I got up, tidied the sheets, and prepared to take a shower.

When I left the room, I saw Wu Shi engrossed in reading a traditional Chinese medicine recipe book in the living room.

I ignored it, turned around and went into the bathroom, locking the door behind me.

After taking off my clothes, I turned on the water and started taking a bath.

Lying in the bathtub, I felt all my fatigue disappear.

I patted my toes and hummed the tune of some song I didn't know, enjoying the wonderful moment of my bath.

The scent of jasmine foam in the bathtub soothed my mind, and at that moment, I felt completely liberated.

After soaking for a while, I started to rinse off the foam. The shower water splashed on my body, and the slippery foam was washed into the drain.

After rinsing off the foam, I dried my body with a towel and then used a hairdryer to dry my hair.

A girl's hair is also the most troublesome part when taking a shower.

After everything was over, I put on my underwear, a short-sleeved shirt, and shorts. Just as I was about to step out of the bathroom, I felt a warm current flowing down below me, a subtle restlessness...
