Encountering a Cute Girl in Chapter Three

The network was somewhat affected after the apocalypse, but it wasn't unusable; it just kept disconnecting and the internet speed was slow. Huai City was an abandoned place, and survivors could only obtain information about the outside world through the faint network connection, such as the location of the safe zone and publicly available information about zombies.

The closest safe zone to Huai City is District 11, which is the destination of that group. Although Yan Shi was unwilling to meet with them again, District 11 was the best choice.

We passed through many villages along the way, but there wasn't a soul in sight. We only saw some zombies wandering around in the fields, so it seemed that everyone had gathered in the safe zone.

After parking her tricycle in a secluded spot, Yan Shi decided to assess the situation before deciding whether to enter the safe zone. She noticed the online reviews of the aliens weren't very positive, and she didn't want to be universally reviled again.

A moment later, Yan Shi heard the voices of Huai Cheng's group. He peeked out and saw that it was indeed them. Why were they there later than him? There were also far fewer people left.

Hopefully, if we run into these guys again, they'll pretend they don't know her and won't expose her. Otherwise, it'll be safer for her to go in disguise.

The sun hung precariously on the horizon, and darkness began to fall. Yan Shi thought she should go back and get something to eat first; she hadn't expected to run into any living people.

"Who's there? That's my car!"

"Sister, there are zombies on the left!" It was a girl's voice.

Yan Shi was stunned for a moment. The first thing that came to mind was whether the angle and the light would give away his identity, but he didn't have time to think about it. The zombies were already close by.

She took off her gloves, reached her left hand towards the zombie, and in the blink of an eye, the zombie vanished, leaving only a pebble on the ground and a strong stench of decay filling the air.

"Um, I'm not a bad person," Yan Shi hurriedly explained, though it sounded rather strange.

"Oh, I know, thank you, sister. Are you going to the safe zone?"

The girl didn't seem to react to what had just happened; it was unclear whether she was simply not in the moment or genuinely didn't care.

Yan Shi felt a chill run down her spine; her simple mind was no match for the seemingly innocent but actually cunning woman.

"Yes, that's a plan..."

"Then I'll take my sister in."

"It's not like we have to go in." No matter how I look at it, I feel like this girl is not simple; maybe it's a trap set for her.

"Don't be afraid, sister. I'm not a bad person. I got separated from my brother, and we agreed to meet at the entrance. Plus, someone will vouch for you, so it'll be easier for you to get in," the little girl said with a smile.

The bold get rich, the timid starve; the important thing is that she wants hot food, not fast food and zombies.

"Let's go." Yan Shi took her baseball bat and left with the little girl.

The girl's name was Bu Ke, she was fourteen years old, and she lived with her brother. Yan Shi's biggest question was how such a seemingly normal girl dared to leave the city alone? Judging from her reaction just now, she didn't seem to have the ability to protect herself.

"The safe zone is great in every way, except for the lack of food. Outsiders like us can only survive by bringing food back with us."

Yan Shi was worried about whether he could get in, but Bu Ke patted his chest and assured him that there would be no problem. He then made a zipper-like gesture with his hand near his mouth, showing his quirky and mischievous nature.

Yan Shi stared at the lights in District 11, her mind filled with images of hot and fragrant food. She swallowed hard, but couldn't resist the temptation. She followed Bu Ke to the entrance to wait for her brother, Bu Qing.

It wasn't until Yan Shi met Bu Qing that he understood why Bu Ke dared to leave the safe zone. It turned out that the two of them were both sorcerers, but because they weren't so powerful sorcerers like Sang Zhi, they weren't doing very well.

Yan Shi secretly thought that perhaps even if he hadn't intervened, Bu Ke wouldn't have done anything.

Although Yan Shi was curious, he didn't dare to ask too many questions and followed the two inside. It wasn't too troublesome, except that he had a monitoring device with positioning function on his wrist, which was said to be for the convenience of rescue.

"Bullshit, it's clearly for detecting zombies. It goes off when a zombie's heartbeat is abnormal, and supposedly it releases a huge electric current that stops a person's heartbeat, but it doesn't seem to work on zombies." Bu Ke leaned closer to Yan Shi and complained.

Yan Shi: Can I throw away this hot potato? Luckily, I didn't wear it on my left hand, otherwise she might have died on the spot.

The tooth dent on my left hand is gone, but the red line is still there, and the starting point of the red line still feels pulsating to the touch.

After entering, Bu Qing invited Yan Shi to their home for a casual meal as a way of thanking them for rescuing Bu Ke.

Yan Shi did not refuse; she was penniless and wanted to eat hot food, which was quite a challenge.

District 11 is now divided into an inner district and an outer district. The inner district is under absolute defense, with strict restrictions on entry and exit, and is the core of the city.

The outer district has a relatively large population flow, and the place where Bu Qing and his group live is a makeshift house that was temporarily erected.

"Sister, sit on the bed. Do you want to take a bath? There's a bathtub inside."

Is the water cold?

"Warm water, not cold."

"Wash it." Yan Shi had long been fed up with the smell on herself. When she found a water source earlier, she only washed her coat and the exposed parts. It was hard for the little girl to have to smell the zombie odor the whole way.

"Does my sister have any clean clothes? If not, can she wear my brother's? They're clean."

"I don't mind."

After taking her brother's clean clothes to Yan Shi, Qing Ke went to help her brother prepare lunch. With guests present, the meal should be plentiful.

As soon as Yan Shi came out, he smelled the aroma of rice. On a wooden board the size of a coffee table, there were two dishes, one meat and one vegetable. Yan Shi felt a lump in his throat.

"It smells so good! It's been so long since I've had a hot meal." Yan Shi sat down and immediately picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks, her mouth watering.

"There's no need to cry, here." Bu Ke brought over the soup and handed Yan Shi a handkerchief.
