Just as Lu Yuan was about to ask about the information he wanted, he suddenly heard Gu Tong whisper to him, "Why don't you go take a shower first?"
Lu Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then stared into the other person's eyes for a while.
"Huh? Take a shower? Do I need to take a shower to get some documents?" Lu Yuan looked at the other person suspiciously.
Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, Gu Tong was filled with confusion. She stammered, looking at Lu Yuan, and then pointed to herself, saying, "You...you didn't mean that, did you?"
This time it was Lu Yuan's turn to be confused. After thinking for a while, he finally understood and then asked in frustration, "What did I mean? It seems you've got it wrong. I said I wanted you to provide me with some names. What are you thinking!"
Lu Yuan's words immediately made Gu Tong turn her face away, and it took her a while to slowly return to normal.
However, Lu Yuan saw a hint of disappointment and a hint of relief in the other person's eyes.
Then the other person led me through a small entryway and into the living room.
The living room wasn't very big. There was a worn-out sofa on one side, and in front of the sofa was a coffee table with some books and files on it, which was probably where Gu Tong worked on weekdays.
The other person gestured to Lu Yuan, then poured a cup of warm water and placed it on the table.
"I'm sorry, we don't have anything else here, so please have some water!"
Lu Yuan smiled slightly, then took the water from the teacup and placed it in his palm. He then glanced at the small room next door, which was a bedroom, presumably where the child slept.
So Lu Yuan asked, "Aren't children allowed in here? I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. If you don't want to answer, just pretend I didn't ask."
Gu Tong looked around the room, then sighed and said, "Yes, we can't bring children here unless we can enter the advanced area to add someone to our list. This child isn't mine, but we've been inseparable until now, so I've always treated her like my own child. I finally managed to get this spot after the first year of the apocalypse, and I didn't want to leave her outside, so I secretly spent some money to bring her in."
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuanxiang's face immediately showed a look of disbelief. He then sighed inwardly, thinking to himself, "This woman is barely able to make ends meet herself, yet she's raising someone else's child. I really don't know what she's thinking."
However, seeing the dilapidated state of the other party's room, Lu Yuan didn't say much. He couldn't help the other party in any way. Now that they had settled in this base, life was much better than outside, so he wasn't worried that the other party would starve to death; they would only live a more miserable life.
Gu Tong stared intently at Lu Yuan and asked, "By the way, what kind of documents are you trying to get?"
Lu Yuan casually picked up a roster on the table and glanced at it. It was a list of people in various scientific research institutions and public service units. Some people were marked with missing marks, some with circles, and some with question marks, with all sorts of other markings.
"I want to get a list of some researchers! Are there any other people in this survivor base that we haven't found elsewhere?" Lu Yuan said his thoughts without any hesitation.
Gu Tong looked somewhat surprised, then stared at Lu Yuan for a while before nodding and saying, "Yes, but there are still quite a few people here who haven't been found yet. Because of the great migration in the first year of the apocalypse, many local people have disappeared, and it's quite difficult to find them now. Although there are tens of thousands of researchers in this survivor base, there are still some professors and scholars who haven't been found. Our people are still searching outside."
Lu Yuan was overjoyed after hearing the list: "Great! Can you make a copy of this list for me? I want a list of more high-tech personnel, preferably professors who work on new materials!"
Gu Tong thought for a moment, then looked troubled: "This list seems a bit difficult to obtain, but I have some connections with people in my spare time, so I think I can help you! By the way, I have a question for you!"
Lu Yuan nodded: "Alright, ask away. Whatever the question is, I'll tell you as much as I know!"
Gu Tong hesitated for a moment before asking, "Do you have your own base outside? I'd like to ask how life is there?"
"It's alright, at least we don't have to eat this dead rat meat!" Lu Yuan said after thinking for a moment.
Upon hearing Lu Yuan's words, a glimmer of hope flashed in Gu Tong's eyes, but she also sighed inwardly and said, "Sigh, well, if only I had met you sooner. Would I still have the chance to go out with you now?"
Lu Yuan already knew what the other party was thinking, but he was having trouble getting out on his own. Although Du Heng had given him a secret passage, Du Heng said that it could only be used by him alone. If he tried to bring someone else, it would be dangerous. Perhaps once the passage was discovered, no one would be able to come out from here again.
However, seeing the hopeful look on the other party's face, Lu Yuan was still hesitant. Although his base was short of people, what he needed were useful people, not the kind of people who were just filling in the numbers.
Lu Yuan glanced at the other person and then asked, "Unless you can do something for me, I can take you out!"
