Then, Lu Yuan sighed and continued, "You can discuss the personnel issue with Wu Tian yourself. I think there shouldn't be any major problems crossing this mountain. It should take us at least two days, and at most a week, to be back."
After saying that, Lu Yuan gently patted the other person's shoulder and turned to leave.
When Lu Yuan returned home, he told his family about it. He didn't want his family to worry, but when they heard that he was going to climb two mountains with the mountaineering team, they were all very reluctant. However, Lu Yuan insisted on his idea, and his family had no choice but to agree. Lu Yuan went with them.
The next morning, the temperature dropped, and volcanic ash continued to drift in the air. Every step left a black footprint on the ground, and everyone was covered in dust. Even if they tried to brush it off, they would still be covered in dust, so they simply stopped caring.
Having brought enough water and food, Lu Yuan also specially prepared a set of thick cotton clothes for everyone. After everyone changed into their clothes, Wang Ming took the lead, carrying heavy ropes and some tools, and went down to the foot of the mountain with everyone.
Seeing the smoke swirling around the mountain, everyone felt a bit scared. However, if they wanted to get out of their current situation, they had to turn things around first.
Wang Ming breathed on his hand, then turned and glanced at Lu Yuan.
"Mr. Lu, I'll begin then!"
Lu Yuan nodded.
Then Wang Ming placed the rope on the ground, tied a sharp pickaxe to one end of the rope, wrapped it around the right side several times, and then swung it up the mountain.
With a "whoosh," the pickaxe was thrown high into the air and landed precisely in a crevice in the cliff face. Wang Ming then tugged hard on the other end of the rope and found it to be very secure. He then tied one end of the rope around his waist and lay down on his body.
The place where they were located was already more than 200 meters above sea level. From here, the entire cliff became very steep, and the last place with soil was under their feet. Above that, it was all rocks.
Wang Ming's body was as agile as a monkey, and he simply climbed up the rope.
After he climbed to the spot where he had just thrown the pickaxe, he took out another rope, hooked a clip into a crevice in the rock, and tested it. It felt very secure, so he shouted down the mountain, "Mr. Lu, I've got it ready. Hurry up and bring your men up!"
Lu Yuan nodded, then gestured for the person next to him to go first.
After seeing several young men, they climbed up the rope little by little and soon arrived at the location where Wang Ming was.
The temperature on the mountain kept dropping, and Lu Yuan finally understood why Wang Ming had asked him to provide cotton-padded clothes before he came. It seemed that the other party was indeed quite familiar with the temperature and climate here. Everyone was wearing relatively tight cotton-padded clothes and did not feel particularly cold.
After climbing up the mountain for about two hundred meters, Lu Yuan felt his breathing become heavy, while the young men beside him were in even worse shape, panting heavily, some even sitting on the ground.
A hint of surprise flashed in Wang Ming's eyes, so he asked in a low voice, "President Lu, were you a good mountain climber before? I see that your stamina is really good. You climbed so far without even breaking a sweat!"
Lu Yuan gave a wry smile. Of course, he wouldn't tell them that he had become like this because he had eaten a lot of golden fruits. If it weren't for these golden fruits, Lu Yuan might be even worse off than some of them.
"Well, I used to work out a lot, so my stamina is alright. How much further can I improve?"
Wang Deng shaded his eyes with his hand, glanced at the mountain peak, and said, "We've probably climbed about halfway up now. Our speed might slow down as we go further, but the slope on the mountain looks pretty good, so our speed shouldn't be affected too much."
Lu Yuan nodded, then looked at the legendary group beside him and said, "Let's rest for another ten minutes, and then we'll continue on our way!"
After speaking, Lu Yuan took out some dried meat from his backpack and distributed it to everyone. When everyone saw the dried meat, they were immediately delighted. Those who were just out of breath from exhaustion quickly took the dried meat and stuffed it into their mouths.
After eating and drinking their fill, the group continued their ascent.
Soon, under Wang Ming's guidance, the group finally arrived at the top of the mountain. Looking at the endless mountain peaks, Lu Yuan felt a sense of exhilaration. He hadn't seen the sun for a long time, as the perennial fog made it almost impossible for them to see it.
However, the sun in the sky caught Lu Yuan's attention, and the others seemed to have noticed this strange phenomenon as well, pointing at the sun in the distance and saying something.
"Why does the sun look so small? Is that even the sun?"
"It must be the sun, right? Is the moon really that bright?"
"What's going on? Has our Earth drifted far away?"
…
The crowd was buzzing with discussion, and Lu Yuan was also somewhat incredulous. So he took out his phone and glanced at the time, which showed 12 noon.
Although it's already April, the midday sun should still be quite strong. However, the zookeeper felt a sense of unease after seeing a small, upside-down sun in the sky. Could it be that, as many people have speculated, the Earth has drifted away?
