Thinking of this, Lu Yuan stood on a boulder and shouted into the distance, but his voice seemed to sink into the sea, and there was not even an echo. Lu Yuan sat blankly on the boulder, not knowing where to go next.
Lu Yuan listened hysterically to the distant sounds of cursing and shouting, his mind filled with images of his family.
No, I have to go and see for myself. Even if it takes a lot of effort, I have to go.
Having made up his mind, Lu Yuan quickly headed back down the mountain, because going any further would not only exhaust him but also cause him to constantly inhale the air with its high concentration of sulfides. So he had to find a way to leave this place.
I heard a while ago that there was a camp a few hundred kilometers away from here. There used to be a military region there, and it was said that there was a pilot testing base there, but Lu Yuan didn't know whether it still existed. He could only try to get a plane and fly to the coast.
Back at the camp, Lu Yuan saw everyone busy at work, but everyone's expression was somewhat blank.
So he gritted his teeth, pressed his hat down, ignored it, filled up a motorcycle with gas at the camp, and drove towards the distant camp.
The road was not easy to travel, and Lu Yuan nearly fell into deep pits several times. Fortunately, he avoided these huge pits in time, otherwise he might have died on the way before he even reached the base.
The motorcycle's bright headlights shone through the complex road, with various dust particles floating everywhere in the air. The lights shone far and wide, and Lu Yuan rarely let go of the accelerator along the way, just driving straight ahead. He roughly knew a specific direction, but since the compass was no longer functional, he could only rely on the surrounding buildings and his memory to drive in that direction.
Finally, after driving for about three hours, Lu Yuan's fuel gauge light came on red. Just as Lu Yuan was about to brake, he looked into the distance and saw several cars that seemed to be searching for something. Lu Yuan was overjoyed and quickly rushed over.
When the people in the convoy saw Lu Yuan arrive, they tensed up. Several of them jumped out of the car, holding sticks and looking at Lu Yuan warily.
"Where are you from? Why are you getting so close to us? Let me tell you, we don't have any food here! Get out of the way!"
A middle-aged man held a stick in his hand and looked at Lu Yuan warily. His voice trembled slightly, clearly worried that Lu Yuan was a desperate criminal who was going to rob them.
Lu Yuan was preoccupied with their plane, so he didn't waste any words and immediately asked, "Is the second survivor camp in Jin Province here? I'd like to go there!"
After hearing Lu Yuan's words, the man paused for a moment, then said with some confusion, "Second Camp? What are you going there for? It's all ruins now!"
Upon hearing his words, Lu Yuan was immediately taken aback. He quickly asked, "What? The Second Camp is now in ruins? When did this happen? I think I heard they were recruiting homeless people there just two months ago!"
The man gave a wry smile, shook his head, and said, "That was so long ago. Didn't you know about the earthquake that happened recently? The camp was completely destroyed after that earthquake. Tens of thousands of people died in that disaster, and now everyone has become refugees. But I heard that a man named Lu Yuan has set up a camp over there. If you want to go there, you can come with us!"
As soon as the man finished speaking, several people nearby quickly stopped him, glaring at him fiercely. The man immediately realized he had said the wrong thing and quickly explained, "Oh, you can go by yourself, we still have some things to do!"
Lu Yuan smiled bitterly to himself. He came from there, and the camp was indeed his own. He never expected that they would already know about this. In this time when information was so scarce, he never expected that these people would still know his whereabouts.
"Alright, then I won't bother you any longer. Tell me the directions and I'll go take a look!"
These people wanted Lu Yuan to leave as soon as possible, so they casually pointed into the distance and said, "It's over there. You can probably see it if you drive about 30 kilometers. But let me tell you first, it's a ruin now. If you're looking for something, there's probably nothing there. The homeless have already searched it up countless times and taken almost everything they could!"
Lu Yuan nodded, then clasped his hands in thanks to the group before turning around, mounting his motorcycle, and continuing his journey into the distance.
Halfway there, because the car was out of service, Lu Yuan specially opened his dimensional space and took out two cans of gasoline, which he then added to the fuel tank before continuing on his way to his destination.
Sure enough, after driving about thirty kilometers, Lu Yuan saw a huge sign. However, some of the words on the sign were already very blurry. Lu Yuan tried his best to make out the words and found that it read: Second Survivor Base.
However, the sign was already worn and faded, and some people had done some messy graffiti on it, but it couldn't cover up the few large characters.
Following the direction indicated by the road sign, Lu Yuan rode his bicycle in and indeed saw a large pile of rubble burying the entire base. From some of the traces, Lu Yuan could easily tell that someone had lived here before, but it was now abandoned.
