Chapter 296 Those Who Sow Their Own Trouble Will Not Live

Then everyone started packing their belongings into their rooms and doing a final check. After all, whether the trees and grass could block the black fog was another matter, but exposing people to such a place would definitely be fatal.

Then the crowd began to get busy. Chen Kaiming walked up to Lu Yuan with a look of anger on his face and questioned him in a low voice.

"Lu Yuan, do you know how dangerous this is? Now look what's happened, everyone's here waiting to die with you. How are you going to explain this?!"

Lu Yuan looked at Chen Kaiming apologetically, then replied somewhat embarrassedly, "That mysterious organization contacted me a few days ago, saying they wanted to send someone to deliver my family's information, so..."

At this moment, Chen Kaiming finally realized why Lu Yuan had stayed despite the crisis. However, he could only sigh. It was too late to leave now. He could only try to hide inside the house as quickly as possible and see if he could withstand the highly poisonous black mist.

Just two hours ago.

Zhao Tinghai was sitting in his office, leisurely sipping tea, with a pile of thoroughly tested ores lying beside him. The ores were all very pure in appearance, and their quality was among the highest in the entire mining area.

Zhao Tinghai was in a good mood at the moment, humming a song and drinking tea, looking quite content.

Just then, there was a knock on the office door, and several workers rushed in with delighted expressions.

Seeing the workers rush in, Zhao Tinghai's face hardened, and he slammed his fist on the table, yelling, "Bastards! You come into my office without even knocking! Get out and start over!"

Several workers looked at each other and turned to leave. At this moment, Zhao Tinghai unexpectedly saw a piece of ore in the hand of one of the madmen that was even purer than the one on his table. He immediately stood up in surprise and quickly called out to the other man.

"Come back here, what are you holding?"

Upon hearing Zhao Tinghai call their names, the workers immediately stopped, turned around, and laid out the ore they were holding in front of Zhao Tinghai.

"This is high-purity ore that we just mined from the mine. The mineral content should be higher than the previous ones we found, so I wanted to ask you if we should increase the mining efforts!"

A look of surprise immediately appeared on Zhao Tinghai's face. He quickly snatched the ore from the other person's hand and examined it carefully for a while.

"Top-quality! This is truly top-quality ore! Which mine did you find it in?"

The worker wiped the sweat from his brow and pointed into the distance: "It was discovered over there at Mine No. 5!"

"Anything else? Bring them all over so I can see them!"

Several workers quickly placed the ore they had brought out on the table, and Zhao Tinghai couldn't wait to take out his magnifying glass and examine each of the newly unearthed ores one by one.

"Great! We're going to make a fortune!" Zhao Tinghai muttered to himself as he looked at the screen, his mouth practically splitting into a wide grin.

"You guys hurry up and go to the warehouse and get all the mines and stuff. Start quarrying right now! We're drawing on a lot of manpower during this time! We must get all the ore out of here as quickly as possible!"

After hearing this, the group exchanged glances, seemingly wanting to say something. Seeing their hesitant manner, Zhao Tinghai's expression hardened.

"What are you all thinking about? If you have something to say, say it now; if not, get back to work!"

"It's like this, Mr. Zhao, there's black fog inside that mine. If we use grenades to blast it, it could be dangerous! Just now, while mining these few ores, two people inhaled the poisonous gas and have now been thrown into the lava pool!"

Zhao Tinghai's expression changed after hearing this, but when he looked at the pure ore in his hand, he immediately put the matter of the dead people out of his mind.

"People die every day when mining ore, what's there to worry about? Hurry up and go! We'll compensate each person who dies with 50,000 yuan!"

Seeing that Zhao Tinghai persisted, the workers could only swallow their saliva and turn to leave the office.

About half an hour later, a loud noise suddenly came from Mine No. 5.

Standing by the window, Zhao Tinghai could already feel the enormous shockwaves emanating from within.

Then, a bright light suddenly flashed through the window, and Zhao Tinghai felt a momentary blindness. Then, his feet began to shake violently, making him unsteady on his feet.

As Zhao Tinghai watched the distant mountain range gradually collapse downwards, he immediately realized that this situation was likely caused by the initial clearing of the mountain.

He quickly grabbed the wall to try and steady himself, but the shaking continued.

After a while, dust rose from the distant mountains, mixed with a large amount of black mist that kept gushing outwards.

The crowd scattered and fled throughout the mine, while the guards kept shouting through loudspeakers to get the workers back to their posts, but no one listened. Several guards shot and killed several workers who tried to escape.

Zhao Tinghai's brow twitched suddenly, and an ominous premonition gripped his heart. He quickly rushed out of the office and headed towards the direction of the explosion.

However, just when he thought he hadn't gone far, a young man suddenly drove up in a panic and blocked his way. He rolled down the window, panting heavily, and shouted at Zhao Tian.

"Uncle Zhao, something's wrong! The black fog is coming! Run!"
