Tang Kang was pinned to the hard stone and unable to move.
But there was a chilling madness emanating from the corner of his eye.
"Haha, go ahead and kill me if you dare. It's okay, we have plenty of leaders like me here."
As soon as the other person finished speaking, Lu Yuan saw him struggle desperately to break free from Zhou Tong's feet.
Then, with all his might, he leaped into the air towards the cave entrance.
With a thud, Tang Kang's body plummeted downwards into the giant pit.
During the fall, he accidentally crashed into a huge rock on the pit wall, the sound of bones breaking rang out, and Tang Kang's shouts ceased.
At this moment, the crowd behind them frantically waved all sorts of weapons in their hands—iron bars, aluminum baseball bats, chains, even U-locks and wooden sticks—anything that could be used as a weapon, and they pressed forward with crazed looks in their eyes.
Tang Kang was right. These people were a completely disorganized and undisciplined group. They could still gather together when there was no food, but if a stranger approached, they would spontaneously attack.
Just then, a loud bang was heard in the distance, followed by a stone hitting a team member's helmet, and then the crowd began to rush over.
When faced with this situation, Lu Yuan and all the other team members felt a sinking feeling in their hearts.
He never expected things to turn out this way, after all, he had a gun, yet they weren't afraid at all.
If a real conflict were to occur, killing one or two people would almost certainly scare the other side away.
However, after the gunshots rang out, those people rushed over frantically, as if they hadn't seen the dead at all. These people launched a death charge as if they were fearless.
"Damn it, are these guys out of their minds?!"
Lu Yuan picked up the gun and pulled the trigger towards the head of a person in the distance.
With a bang, his brains splattered, and the man's body slammed forward like a stone, then rolled on the ground and remained motionless.
His death did not stop the people around him from doing their thing; in fact, they became even more frantic, shouting incessantly.
"Kill them, kill them, steal their planes, steal their food, they have food to eat!"
"Those who have food in their hands should die; we must kill them to survive!"
"We need food, we need to live! Brothers, don't be afraid, charge! Let's fight them to the death! They only have a dozen or so men, while we have thousands. They don't have that many bullets!"
The crowd shouted and yelled as they rushed forward, while Zhou Tong and his men began firing at them.
After firing a whole magazine of bullets, Zhou Tong's face was grim. He hadn't expected the situation in the country to become so bad, and that this organization that called itself saviors would be so insane.
"These people are absolutely insane!"
At this moment, the walkie-talkie in Lu Yuan's hand beeped again. He quickly picked it up, glanced at it, and immediately pressed the answer button.
"Lu Yuan, Lu Yuan, where are you right now?"
Han Wen's voice carried a hint of surprise and anxiety, and Lu Yuan quickly took the microphone to answer.
"We've arrived in Qingshui City now. What's the situation on your end?"
“I’ve found the desert where it appeared, but I haven’t found any trace of Xiwen there. I suspect he’s probably in your area!”
"Yes, we've run into a little trouble here, but it's nothing serious!"
Han Wen then noticed the continuous gunfire coming from Lu Yuan's side, so she quickly asked, "I heard gunfire over there, what happened?"
So Lu Yuan briefly explained what had happened to her. After listening, Han Wen asked softly, "Is there a crater where you are now?"
"Yes, how did you know?"
Lu Yuan was slightly surprised because he hadn't told Han Wen about the situation here, but the other party already knew about the pit.
"Great! If there's a crater, then Xiwen must be there!"
"Oh, what do you mean? You mean you're sure Xiwen will be here?"
"Yes, I'm sure the signal I received came from where you are now. You should only be a few meters away from there, but I just heard an echo of gunfire from your side. It should be in a valley or a crater."
"However, I do know about Shimizu City. Although earthquakes have occurred there, there are more cases of rift valleys. If there is such a response in a valley, it means that the mountain range is very high. But that doesn't seem to fit the terrain there, so it should just be a crater!"
Han Wen truly lives up to his intelligence background; his analytical skills are exceptionally strong.
After listening, Lu Yuan was immediately impressed. He hadn't expected that the other party could analyze his location from just a few words.
"By the way, you just said that Xiwen's signal reappeared, just a few meters away from me?"
As Lu Yuan said this, he turned his head and glanced in the direction of the pit.
The bottom of the pit was pitch black, and no one knew how deep it was.
"Yes, according to precise calculations, the signal that Xiwen is sending is less than 20 meters away from your current signal location, which means that you are currently very close to him!"
Lu Yuan nodded immediately and said into the phone, "Okay, don't worry, I'll take care of what's in front of me and then go find Xiwen right away!"
