That's just how people are. They naturally resist things that don't fit their worldview, like demons, monsters, supernatural beings, and the like. Unless they see them for themselves, they'll generally remain skeptical.
"So, who should we cast in the role?"
Ai's words surprised Kōyū, so he asked, "Don't you want Ran to know?"
Ai shook her head: "No, it's just not the right time yet. When I was chatting with her a few days ago, she had a heart-to-heart talk with me."
"What did they talk about?" Kōyū wasn't interested in what Ran thought of Conan, but he was very curious about the other topics.
Ai pouted: "You're just like a gossip, I'm not telling you."
When Kōyū saw that Ai didn't tell him, he didn't want to make a fool of himself. He looked at Ai with a half-smile and said, "You can play Conan. Although you are a bit taller than him, you should look pretty good with makeup. We can give him a temporary antidote to fool him for now."
"Me?" Ai pointed at herself, looking puzzled. "Why me? I'm a girl."
"Don't worry, let's see what Conan thinks. If he wants to confess, then there's no need. If he does, then you're the only one who can easily impersonate Conan. Just get a big hat and a mask, and no one should be able to tell."
As he spoke, Kōyū nodded in satisfaction. Ai was indeed talented, and Conan was not strong; in fact, he was rather thin.
He looks similar to Ai Haibara, who is a girl; their figures and builds are quite alike.
"What do you mean?" Ai blushed and punched Kōyū hard with her fist. "What do you mean by 'similar body shape'?"
Realizing he had misspoke, Kwang-woo quickly added, "I'm sorry, I was wrong!"
After saying that, he slipped away to the bathroom as if his feet were greased, ready to take a shower and go to bed.
Ai watched Kōyū's retreating figure and chuckled, "Just wait and see if you dare say that again!"
