The surgery was very effective. In the moment when he was in a daze after being shot, he remembered the two bottles that Guangyou had given him. He endured the pain; a gunshot wound is not something that an ordinary person can bear without uttering a sound.
When he applied the medicine from the bottle to himself, he felt a cool sensation all over his body, and he only felt a slight pain, which was negligible.
But when he woke up, in the quiet environment, he began to think about how Guangyou knew he would be injured. He even suspected that Guangyou was the mastermind behind it all. He considered Guangyou a good friend, but no matter who it was, the feeling of being kept in the dark was extremely unpleasant. But since it was Guangyou, he could only suppress his doubts for the time being.
After school, everyone went to the hospital to visit Conan. Ran and Sonoko came along. Sonoko was also very concerned about Conan and offered to cover his medical expenses.
Conan is now able to joke around with Ayumi and the others while sitting in his wheelchair, which relieved Ran.
The doctor said Conan's recovery is going quite well; his body's healing ability is comparable to that of an adult, and his cells are extremely active. He said Conan should be able to be discharged from the hospital in another two or three days.
However, it should be noted that Conan needs to be careful after being discharged from the hospital, as he may get an upper respiratory infection. This string of medical terms left Ran completely bewildered, since she is not a medical student and, moreover, she is in excellent physical condition due to her karate training, so such minor ailments are unlikely to occur in her.
Realizing the person in front of him might not understand, the doctor explained, "It's nothing, just a common cold."
It was already quite late, and at Sonoko's request, Ayumi and the other two went home.
Kōyū pushed the wheelchair, preparing to take Conan to the ward to rest.
On their way back to the ward, Sonoko and Ran chatted.
Sonoko thought about the timing: "Hmm, if it's in two or three days, our school will be having a carnival."
“It just so happens to be the day we're putting on our play,” Xiao Lan chimed in from the side.
Conan was sitting in his wheelchair, playing a video game. His attention wasn't entirely on the game; he was also listening intently to the conversation between the two people behind him.
Sonoko raised a question: when Conan was discharged from the hospital during their school fair, who would pick him up?
Ran waved her hand: "Don't worry, I asked my dad to pick up Conan."
Suddenly, Sonoko leaned close to Ran and said, "By the way, Ran, have you been in contact with that person?"
"Who, who is it?" Xiaolan asked knowingly.
Sonoko, with a gossipy smile, said, "Who do you think it is? Isn't it Shinichi? If you said you'd play the female lead and he'd play the male lead, he might just rush over there!"
To Sonoko's surprise, Ran didn't seem to care. She turned to Conan in his wheelchair and smiled, "As long as Conan gets better, isn't it enough that he can come to see my performance?"
"You'll come and see, right?"
After staring at Ran for a while, Conan slowly nodded.
Sonoko squinted and said in a flat tone, "Tsk tsk, speaking of which, why do I always feel like Ran is giving you the eye?"
"Could it be that you've fallen for someone else? Tsk tsk tsk, you've actually taken a liking to an elementary school student!"
Xiao Lan blushed immediately and retorted, "What? Don't talk nonsense!"
But Kudo could see the happiness on Ran's face. It was impossible for her to fall in love with Conan. In other words, she might have already decided that Conan was Shinichi. She might waver, but for now, she was certain of her own feelings.
Conan noticed the bandage on Sonoko's hand. Although he and Sonoko didn't seem to get along, they had a good relationship. He asked with concern, "Um, Sonoko-neechan, how did you get your hand like that?"
Sonoko was a little frustrated: "I twisted my ankle while performing in a play. Ugh, now I can't play the knight anymore!"
"It would be nice if someone could perform for you," Xiaolan comforted her.
At this moment, Conan's heart sank. He sensed something was wrong and quickly asked, "Who will play the knight in place of Sonoko?"
"It's Dr. Araide, the one I mentioned before!"
Sonoko, standing to the side, smiled and said, "Although I'm very unwilling, Dr. Araide's acting was really great! Conan, you must come and see the sparks of love between Dr. Araide and Ran!"
Xiaolan quickly told Yuanzi not to talk nonsense.
But Conan frowned and his breathing became heavy when he heard this: "Is this what that idiot has been aiming for all along? No way!"
When everyone arrived at Conan's hospital room, they found that there were voices coming from inside the room, which should have been empty.
After a careful look, Guangyou sighed and opened the door: "Blackie, what brings you here?"
Upon hearing the words "Black Charcoal Head," Hattori, who was in the room, turned around and said very solemnly, "My name is Hattori Heiji. Can you please forget about the words 'Black Charcoal Head'?"
"Okay, charcoal head."
"No problem, charcoal head."
"Sigh." Hattori sighed when he saw that Hattori's attempts to correct him had failed. "Fine, whatever."
Xiao Lan asked, "What brings you two here?"
Hattori's mournful face vanished instantly, replaced by a smile as he held a bouquet of flowers: "We heard this little brat was injured, so we came over to visit him after school."
When Kazuha asked about Conan's recovery progress and learned that it was going well, a genuine smile appeared on her face.
Hattori, carrying a bouquet of lilies, said, "No matter what, Kazuha, go and buy a nicer bouquet of flowers."
Kazuha grumbled discontentedly, "What's with the attitude, you charcoal head!"
Hattori: "I'll endure it!"
Using the excuse of leading the way, Hattori successfully distracted Ran, Sonoko, and Kazuha, who were unaware of the truth.
