Chapter 149 To gain such a friend is to be willing to lose the world

Uncle Mori, his voice trembling with emotion, asked Ran, "How could that be! I'm your father, Kogoro Mori! And this is your mother, Eri Kisaki, remember?"

Uncle Mori was covered in sweat, but when Ran said calmly, "I can't remember, I can't remember anything," it brought tears to the eyes of this middle-aged man.

Conan sat down next to Kōyū, his head bowed and his voice slightly hoarse: "This time you have to help me bring the murderer to justice. I'll allow you to use some ruthless methods, but you can't kill anyone."

Guangyou chuckled softly: "Of course, after all, Xiaolan is also my family. Letting the murderer go is not in my nature. But now that Xiaolan has amnesia, she needs you to be her doctor."

Conan suddenly looked up at Kōyū: "Tell me what to do!"

After Kōsuke explained his plan, Conan, though somewhat skeptical about its success, readily agreed. Regardless of its outcome, the method gave Conan some hope.

The atmosphere in the ward was heavy for a moment, and no one spoke. After more than ten minutes, the door was pushed open, and Kazato Kyosuke and Shiratori walked in. Shiratori said, "The resident psychologist at the hospital is not here, so I asked Mr. Kazato to come and take a look at Ran."

Uncle Mori and Eri Kisaki both stood up to thank him, and Conan also went to the side to listen to the diagnosis results.

Only Guangyou sat on the sofa, propping his head up with his hand, looking utterly bored. However, if anyone looked closely into Guangyou's eyes, they would see a murderous intent as sharp as ice: "You reap what you sow."

After asking some basic questions like "Do you remember what happened today?", "Who are you?", and "What is the capital of Japan?", Kazato Kyosuke nodded, having already made a judgment about the illness in his mind.

Kyosuke Kazato led everyone to an empty room next door and said to them, "Your daughter seems to have reverse amnesia, but fortunately she still has common sense and it won't affect her normal life. However, I suggest that she stay in the hospital for a few days to see how things develop."

"Reverse amnesia?" Uncle Mori was a little puzzled by this technical term.

"Reverse amnesia is a sudden memory disorder, which refers to the loss of memory within a certain period of time. The causes of reverse amnesia include cerebral hemorrhage, trauma, and severe mental stimulation." Guangyou explained this professional term in what he thought was a more accessible way.

After a brief inquiry, Uncle Mori eagerly asked, "Can it be cured? Is it easy to cure?"

Kyosuke Kazato comforted her, "Mr. Mori, don't worry. There are probably two ways to treat this illness. One is to let her go back to the scene and try to treat it through intense stimulation. The other is that you need to accompany her slowly in your daily life so that she can slowly recover her memory."

Then Kyosuke Kazato left the room, and Conan nudged Kouyu beside him and asked, "Do you know what triggered Ran? I think there's more to this than meets the eye."

"A wise man can make a foolish mistake." Kōyū curled his lip. "Didn't you find a flashlight that was on? In the absence of power, how could the criminal determine Inspector Sato's location?"

Upon hearing this, Conan understood the specific reason: "You mean Ran thought that she was the one who caused Officer Sato's death, which is why she was traumatized and lost her memory?"

Guangyou simply nodded slightly, then a cold glint flashed in his eyes as he muttered, "If you weren't still somewhat useful, you'd already be enjoying your meal in my little dark room."

Kōyū didn't stay in the room any longer and went straight to Rin's room. He had only been out of the room for a short while when he heard Uncle Mori shouting.

Not long after, Guangyou heard a loud bang from a table being slammed. Guangyou shook his head: "Sticking to the rules, too proud to admit it."

Pushing open the door, only the bedside lamp beside Ran's hospital bed was still on. Sonoko's sobs echoed in the room: "Ran, even if you never remember anything for the rest of your life, I will still be your best friend!"

Guangyou's eyes reddened, but a smile appeared on his lips: "With such a friend, what does it matter if I lose the world?"

This scene made Kōyū feel slightly sad. Sonoko's family was of a very high social class, the upper echelons of high society. It was extremely rare, if not impossible, to find someone in such a place who would befriend her without any ulterior motives. Therefore, she cherished Ran as her friend very much.

As the saying goes, true friendship is revealed in times of trouble. Sonoko is usually carefree and often jokes with Ran, but when faced with this situation, she couldn't suppress her emotions. Large tears kept dripping onto her expensive pants, but she was completely unaware, just staring blankly at the sleeping Ran.

Kōyū stepped forward, patted Sonoko on the shoulder, and said softly, "Heaven won't let a girl who loves to laugh suffer. Everything will be alright."

Sonoko wiped away her tears and nodded heavily: "Ran is such a good girl, God will definitely bless her!"

Then she thought of the murderer, and she said fiercely, her usual demeanor completely changed: "If I find out who the murderer is, I swear, I will make him regret ever being born!"

The garden felt somewhat unfamiliar at this moment, but it was a quick visit and a quick return; after she finished speaking, it returned to its original state.

Afterwards, Guangyou lay down on the sofa in the ward and fell asleep with his eyes closed. When he woke up, it was already daylight, and sunlight shone through the gaps in the curtains onto Xiaolan's face, who had already woken up.

Xiaolan looked much better after a night's rest, but the confusion on her face remained. She looked at Guangyou, who had gotten up, and asked, "Little brother, what's your name?"

Guangyou replied, "Sister Xiaolan, my name is Guangyou!"

"Kuangyou? That name sounds familiar." Xiaolan forced a smile. "But, I'm sorry, I can't remember."

Guangyou, of course, didn't mind. He waved his hand and said, "It's alright, let's leave it to fate and take it slow. You can't rush these things."

Uncle Mori, who was standing outside the door, heard the noise inside the room and pushed the door open. He saw that Xiaolan had already woken up and said, "Xiaolan, I bought you a bowl of porridge. After you finish drinking it, rest for a while and then come with us to go for a check-up."

Although Xiaolan had forgotten everything, she was deeply moved by Uncle Mori's deep concern. She nodded and tried to take the porridge, but Uncle Mori waved his hand, not letting her eat it herself, his face full of seriousness: "You are a patient, I will take care of you."

Without hesitation, Xiaolan nodded and said, "Thank you, Dad... Daddy."

Upon hearing this, Uncle Mori's face lit up with a smile. After making sure the temperature wouldn't be too hot, he gently fed each spoonful of porridge to Ran.

A dozen minutes later, Uncle Mori finished feeding the porridge, stood up and said with a smile, "Then I'll go out first. You should rest well and come with us to get a check-up later."

Xiaolan nodded, and Uncle Mori turned and left the ward. Xiaolan, who had just lost her memory, called him "Dad," which made him very happy, and his steps became lighter.

Looking at Uncle Mori's fingers, which were red from the burn, Guangyou sighed, "The hearts of parents are always full of love and concern."
