Chapter 229 The Search for the Dog

Pushing open the door to the Japanese-style room, Ayumi looked around and then turned to say, "Doyle doesn't seem to be in this room."

"That's strange, where did it go?" Ghana put down the snacks and put his hands on his hips, looking a little troubled. "Usually, Doyle comes here as soon as he hears the bell."

“Let’s search separately,” Tsunashima suggested. “I’ll go check the living room area; maybe Doyle is there.”

"Then I'll have to trouble Mr. Tsunashima and everyone else." Kano readily agreed.

In an instant, the house was filled with Ayumi's worried shouts: "Come out quickly, Doyle!"

Even Ai Haibara joined the search team. It's estimated that among everyone present, Kousuke was the most free. He didn't think anyone would deliberately do anything to a dog.

After leaving the Japanese-style room, Kōyū strolled around the house with light steps. After a while, he suddenly heard a dog barking.

Following the sound of barking dogs, they arrived at the backyard. Guangyou had just arrived when the others followed. Arthur and Christie were barking incessantly at an incinerator in the middle of the backyard.

"How is this possible? We haven't used this incinerator in a long time, how could it still be emitting smoke?" Garner looked at the wisps of smoke rising from the incinerator, a sense of foreboding creeping into his heart: "Doyle wouldn't..."

Before he finished speaking, everyone understood what he meant. Conan hurriedly ran to the incinerator, opened the door, and a wave of scorching heat rolled in.

Conan picked up a shelf that was placed to the side and rummaged through something in the incinerator. Before long, he used tongs to pull out an item that looked like a collar.

The moment Garner saw it, he exclaimed, "It's definitely Doyle's collar! No way!"

Doyle had been with his family for a long time. Humans aren't plants or trees, so how could they be without feelings? Moreover, for someone like him who loved dogs, if Doyle were put into the incinerator right under his nose, it would be nothing short of a thunderbolt.

"No, Doyle should be alright," Conan reassured him. "The only thing burned here is this collar."

Ai tugged at Kousuke's sleeve: "Kousuke, could you help me find Doyle?"

Guangyou nodded, walked to the incinerator, looked at the flames inside, and said, "Let's put out the fire first."

After spending a few minutes extinguishing the flames in the incinerator, Guangyou opened the incinerator door again. Although the fire was out, the temperature was still there.

Guangyou wasn't stupid enough to just reach in and use tongs to pick up a slightly charred lump of something from the incinerator.

Upon closer inspection, Guangyou frowned: "Glass wool?"

"A speaker?" Conan suddenly exclaimed upon seeing it.

Reminded by Conan, Mitsuyu also remembered where this thing was more likely to appear: the speaker.

Glass wool has excellent sound absorption properties and is often used in audio equipment. Of course, there are other materials as well, but it's also a matter of whether these materials are suitable for everyone.

Ignoring Gana's slightly bewildered look, Kōyū and Conan got up at the same time and ran to the living room. The two of them went to the speaker and opened the cover of the amplifier.

Sure enough, a butterfly dog was lying quietly inside, with a blue mat underneath it and a piece of cheese on the mat.

"Doyle!"

Ghana and the others followed, and the moment they saw Doyle, Ghana's heart finally relaxed.

"Don't worry, it's just asleep."

From the dog's steady breathing and the gentle rise and fall of its body with each breath, Guangyou could tell that Doyle was still safe; it had simply fallen asleep after taking something similar to a sleeping pill.

Why is Doyle here?

After learning that Doyle was alright, Garner asked in confusion, "Who would deliberately lead Doyle here?"

Guangyou carefully picked up Doyle and placed him on the sofa in the living room. He then sat down beside him, stroking his chin, and asked, "Is there something special on Doyle's collar?"

Guangyou saw the collar clearly just now; there was a dent at the very front of the collar, as if something was attached to it.

There is a gemstone.

Ghana's answer enlightened Guangyou: "So it's for money?"

Conan nodded in agreement: "It's unlikely that an outsider committed the crime. I saw a pair of women's shoes in the backyard just now, and they looked like Shino's."

"Maybe it's for that million-dollar dog. They can put it in the stereo and take it out with them," Tosabayashi said irritably from the side.

"Impossible, how could Shino do such a thing, and besides..."

The Ghanaian stopped speaking halfway through his sentence, as if he was hiding something.

"But the shoes were right next to the incinerator..."

Kōyū interrupted Tosa Rin directly: "No, it's not Shino-neechan. This sound system is going to be given to Shino-neechan soon. She doesn't need to damage it. Without these glass wools, the sound quality will be greatly reduced."

With that, Kōyū got up and walked towards the door: "Let's go to the Japanese-style room."

Upon entering the Japanese-style room, which remained exactly as it had been when the group had entered, Kōyū went straight to the wall clock, climbed onto the cabinet beneath it, and took the clock down.

He reached behind the clock's pendulum and touched something hard. When he felt it, a smile spread across his face: "Just as I thought."

Then, to everyone's astonishment, he took out the gem that should have been set in the collar, jumped off the cabinet, and looked at Tsunashima Yoshio, tossing the gem in his hand: "Mr. Tsunashima, that person must be you, right?"

"What exactly is going on?" Ghana asked in confusion, caught off guard by what was happening.

Seeing this, Tsunashima seemed to realize that the situation was out of control. He cursed under his breath, pushed Gana aside, and ran away.

Arthur and Christie saw Gangjima running and immediately followed him.

How could Tsunashima's speed compare to that of two dogs? Christie ran straight ahead, crouched down, gritted her teeth, and glared at Tsunashima, making gurgling sounds in her throat.

Arthur then leaped and bit Tsuna's sleeve, and Tsuna felt a tremendous force coming from the cuff.

Tsuna gritted his teeth, raised his clenched fist, hesitated in the air for a moment, then sighed and let Arthur bite his sleeve.

Gana quickly stepped forward to persuade Arthur to relent, then turned to Tsunashima and asked, "Mr. Tsunashima, why did you do this?"

"Is it because Mr. Tsunashima's financial situation isn't very good?"

Kōyū tossed the gemstones aside and walked slowly over. "Mr. Tsunashima must have a lot of dogs at home."

After seeing Tsunashima nod, Kōyū explained, "Mr. Tsunashima, the dog food at your house must be a huge expense, right?"

“Yes, I don’t have much money left to support my dogs.” Tsuna sat down on the floor against the wall, sighing with his head down. “My meager salary simply can’t support these dogs.”

"He has no money but keeps so many dogs. He deserves what he got."

At this moment, Tosabayashi's sarcastic voice rang out. She glanced sideways at Tsunashima, who was sitting on the ground, her eyes full of disdain.
