Ai was still awake. She was leaning against the headboard, flipping through a fashion magazine. When she heard the door open, she immediately closed the magazine and lay down.

Kōyū remained kneeling, reached out and brushed the strands of hair that had fallen across Ai's forehead to the side, and said in a soft and gentle voice, "I swear, I will protect everything about you."
