"I swear, I will protect everything about you."
"Time is..."
"forever..."
After finishing speaking, Kōyū slowly stood up, took a breath to calm himself down, turned off the room lights, and then lay down directly on Professor Agasa's bed.
after all...
He's not stupid, is he?
Sleeping on a hammer-shaped sofa is unacceptable; not sleeping in a bed is the act of a bastard.
Kōyū turned to his side, glanced at Ai, who was still sleeping in the same position, and then closed his eyes.
As time went by, he gradually drifted off to sleep...
In the darkness, Ai slowly opened her eyes and looked at Kyou, who was sleeping not far away. Her usually icy expression completely melted away at this moment.
Her eyes and brows conveyed tenderness, her cherry lips were tightly pursed, and the blankets were wrinkled from her gripping.
It is said that a person's true emotions are more revealed when they are alone.
Just like some people who seem cheerful on the surface, but secretly doubt themselves every day, and may even have thoughts of ending their own lives.
Although she was "asleep" and couldn't see Guangyou's expression at the time, she genuinely believed the truth of his words from the tone of his voice.
At first, the light kiss on her forehead made her feel shy and a little nervous.
But what she heard next left her no time to feel shy or nervous; her not-so-big heart was filled with only one emotion: being moved.
After a short period of adjustment, Ai's eyes were able to recognize some objects in the dark.
She couldn't see the face clearly, but she kept looking in Guangyou's direction, only blinking once in a long while.
"Snoring~"
In a quiet environment, the human ear can always detect more details, and Xiao Ai heard a rhythmic snore.
The snoring wasn't loud, not at all noisy, and especially in Xiao Ai's heart right now, his snoring seemed to make her feel more at ease.
Ai carefully lifted the blanket, then got out of bed, her feet stepping directly onto the cold floor.
She moved with almost no sound, as if she had the paw pads of a cat's paw.
Ai quietly walked to Kōyō's bedside, half-squatted down, placed her hands on the edge of the bed, and gently rested her head on her hands.
The closer you get, the clearer you can see.
Ai could now clearly see Kōyū's sleeping face; this wasn't the first time she'd seen him like this, but she didn't find it particularly boring.
She still found it quite interesting to observe Kōyū sleeping: Kōyū's eyes were closed, his breathing was steady, and his gaze was still directed towards Ai's bed.
Ai Haibara seemed to see a feeling called happiness in the smile on Kousuke's lips.
To be honest, Guangyou isn't actually that incredibly handsome.
But whether it's facial features or anything else, Ai finds them extremely pleasing to the eye.
"If someone is very handsome, they probably wouldn't feel that secure."
Ai's smile seemed to hold a hint of relief, yet also a touch of worry. "But he's a really nice guy, he'll probably attract a lot of girls in the future, right?"
"This is really distressing."
She said that, but the faint smile on her face seemed to betray her true feelings: "Even if there are other girls, I guess he won't change."
"After all, he has to make noodles for me for the rest of his life."
Ai pursed her lips, and for some reason, she felt her eyes getting hot. "I want to make sandwiches for him for the rest of my life."
"This is...it was promised..."
Ai managed to suppress her excitement; her eyes only felt slightly warm, and she didn't produce any further tears.
She lay on the edge of the bed, tilted her head, rested her head on her hand, looked directly at Guangyou, blinked, and smiled, "You really look like a child when you sleep."
"Sometimes he can be quite silly."
Looking at that face, Ai recalled some things that had happened recently and sighed, "He seems normal, but his sense of security is unusually low. Otherwise, I wouldn't have thought so much about it before."
"He was just like a helpless child back then," Ai said with a wry smile, "like a child who likes to overthink things."
She understands; everyone has been in that state, including herself.
She was the only one who had ever seen that side of him, and she was shocked when she did.
To her surprise, the boy in front of her, who usually liked to joke, actually had such concerns.
Although she felt this concern was meaningless and she couldn't quite understand it.
She is not him after all, so it's perfectly normal that she can't truly understand his thoughts.
Therefore, she could only comfort Guangyou and try to make his concerns gradually disappear.
"However, this is more like a person."
Ai straightened up, reached out a hand to brush away the strands of hair that were obstructing her view, bent down, her cheeks slightly flushed, and as a return gesture, she gently kissed Kōyū's right cheek.
Fortunately, the lights were off, and fortunately, no one was around, otherwise her flushed cheeks would definitely have been visible.
Kōyū, fast asleep, felt the strange sensation on his face, reached out and patted the spot where Ai had just kissed him, muttering unconsciously, "Why are there mosquitoes in this weather..."
Upon hearing this, Ai's smile gradually faded, her fists clenched tightly, and she muttered to herself with some dissatisfaction, "How dare they call me a mosquito?"
Her eyes were fixed on Guangyou, who was sleeping, and she simply looked at him without making any move.
A moment later, she loosened her clenched fist, and a smile returned to her delicate face. She gave a soft hum, her tone somewhat arrogant: "Fine, I'll let you off this time since you were sleeping."
"Go to sleep."
Ai transformed into a cat again, taking light and silent steps back to her bedside, climbing onto the bed, and pulling the covers over herself.
She turned to face Kwangsoo, her gaze fixed on him, the smile on her lips never fading from her expression.
"Good night..."
She looked at Guangyou one last time, then closed her eyes as if reluctant to leave.
Even though it was snowing heavily outside, her heart was warm.
The faint snoring seemed to become her lullaby, and she soon drifted off to sleep.
In the dark room, the two lay on separate beds, their eyes fixed on each other.
The good times didn't last long; this situation only lasted for an hour or two.
"Ring ring~"
The phone ringing at Professor Agasa's house shattered the peace, waking Ai and Mitsuyu from their deep sleep almost simultaneously.
Guangyou reacted extremely quickly. As soon as the bell rang, he opened his eyes, but if you looked closely, you could see a hint of drowsiness in his eyes.
He stood up and said to Ai, who had just regained consciousness, "I'll do it."
Kōyū got out of bed, put on his shoes, walked to the phone, frowned, picked up the receiver, and said with a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice, "Hello, Professor Agasa's house, what's up?"
