"Hey, is that Conan?"
Conan looked towards the source of the voice and saw it was Inspector Megure. Seeing that Conan was alone and it was so dark, Inspector Megure asked, "Conan, are you going home now?"
Seeing Inspector Megure about to go out on a call, Conan asked curiously, "Inspector Megure, is there another case?"
Inspector Megure was somewhat exasperated by Conan's curiosity about the cases: "There are some cases, you know."
However, since Conan was staying at Kogoro Mouri's house, Inspector Megure suddenly remembered something and turned to introduce the person in the blue suit behind him: "Let me introduce you, this is Inspector Shiratori, who was recently assigned to our division."
Shiratori learned about Conan from Inspector Megure: "My name is Shiratori Ninzaburo. Inspector Megure told me a lot about you. I heard that you often notice some unusual things."
Conan blushed slightly and scratched his head: "No, those were just coincidences!"
Officer Shiratori also thought Conan's situation was a coincidence: "I think so too. This is what people mean when they say that nothing happens without a coincidence."
Inspector Megure complained that he couldn't enjoy his Golden Week holiday properly before getting into his police car and leaving.
Conan suddenly realized, rubbing his chin: "So May 3rd is the anniversary of the constitutional amendment!"
However, Conan was still a bit confused: "So what if it is? Why does it have to be on that day? I don't understand!"
Back at the office, Xiaolan had already prepared dinner.
While everyone was eating, Ran mentioned the promise she had made to Shinichi.
After hearing the gist of it, Conan asked with some doubt: "Birthday?"
Ran nodded: "Yes, May 4th is Shinichi's birthday, so I asked him to go see a midnight movie together on the night of May 3rd! As soon as it's midnight, I'll give him the red casual shirt I bought for him. I guarantee he'll be very surprised when he sees it."
Conan then truly realized: So, May 4th is my birthday.
Honestly, Conan himself had forgotten his birthday, but Ran remembered it so clearly, which warmed Conan's heart and made his dinner seem even more delicious.
Uncle Mori, shoveling rice into his mouth, asked, "What movie are you guys going to see?"
"The Legend of the Red Thread".
Uncle Mori and Conan asked in unison, "The red thread?"
Xiaolan blushed slightly and explained, "People say that couples who are destined to be together have a red thread tied to their little fingers when they are born. That's the theme of a romantic love story~"
With his mouth full of food, Kōyū thought to himself with disdain: "It's just the matchmaker, what's so special about filming it? But I'm curious, do Ai and I have a red thread on our little fingers?"
Thinking of this, Guangyou shook his head: There definitely is, there must be!
Ran pulled out a book from somewhere and showed it to the three of them: "Look, it says that Shinichi and I both have red as our lucky color for May! That's why I decided to watch that movie!"
Uncle Mori suddenly realized something: "Wait a minute, didn't you say you were going to see a midnight movie with Shinichi?"
Xiaolan nodded in agreement, "Yes."
Suddenly, a fire ignited behind Uncle Mori's calmly eating meal. He half-squatted down and pointed at Ran: "No way! How can you go to a midnight screening! I absolutely forbid you from going! I won't allow young men and women to spend the night together in a dimly lit movie theater! Especially since this girl is my daughter!"
Uncle Mori's behavior completely reveals that he is a doting father to his daughter.
Ran snatched the chopsticks and bowl from Uncle Mori's hand and said, "That's not how it is! Dad, don't get the wrong idea! It's because Shinichi forgets his own birthday every year that I have to remind him every year! Otherwise, he would have grown a year older for nothing!"
Conan's eyes flickered slightly as he looked at Ran, his gaze filled with an indescribable emotion.
Uncle Mori reached out to snatch his food back: "That's true, but you guys are still in high school."
Ran suddenly remembered the favor Shinichi had asked her to do, and decided to change the subject: "By the way, Dad, let's go to the afternoon tea party at the Moriya Teiji family's house!"
"tea party?"
Ran took out an invitation from her pocket and said, "Shinichi was originally invited, but he had something to do and couldn't go, so he asked me to go in his place. Conan, Kouyu, you guys can come too!"
Conan naturally nodded in agreement.
However, Uncle Mori was different. When he heard that Shinichi had originally been invited, he was a little displeased: "Hmph, the invitation was for Shinichi, why should I go!"
Kōyū swallowed a mouthful of rice: "Teiji Moriya is a very famous architect, you know. This is a historic meeting between a famous detective and a famous architect!"
Uncle Mori is strong and intelligent, but he can't stand flattery. He snatched the invitation from Conan's hand: "A famous detective and a famous architect! Hmm, it's definitely worth a visit!"
Conan, standing nearby, secretly gave Kōyū a thumbs up.
Time flies, and before we knew it, it was April 29th.
In the afternoon, the detective agency arrived at Teiji Moriya's house. Uncle Mori straightened his ever-present suit, and Ran took out an invitation and gave it to the security guard at the door.
As they stepped onto the stairs at the entrance, the group was immediately drawn to the building before them.
The Maori uncle next to him, hands on his hips, said with some pride, "Truly worthy of being a traditional 17th-century British building from the orthodox Stuart dynasty!"
