Chapter 899 I choose you, Conan!

After returning to the camp, Takagi asked Kōyū a few more questions.

This was a private conversation between friends, not a formal one. Takagi just wanted to ask Kousuke how to improve the efficiency and accuracy of solving cases.

A serving police officer asks an amateur for advice on how to solve a case.

If outsiders saw this scene, they would probably laugh at Takagi, criticize his poor professional skills, and even suggest that he change careers.

In the eyes of some conservative seniors, he was tarnishing the reputation of the police.

But only Takagi himself knew that while he was perfectly capable of carrying out his superiors' orders, he was indeed lacking in many areas when it came to solving cases.

Take today's case as an example:

He initially thought it was an accident, but Conan could tell that it was actually murder.

When the case seemed to have reached a dead end, Kousuke and Conan were able to find the crucial piece of evidence: the mat.

That's the difference.

However, changing careers is impossible; it's impossible for me to change careers in this lifetime.

To make up for this, he can study instead of choosing to leave the industry.

It doesn't matter who you learn from.

It's not terrible to not know something; what's terrible is not knowing something and being too ashamed to learn from others.

He was willing to swallow his pride and ask, but Guangyou really didn't want to answer.

The case has now been solved, and the culprit has been caught. According to the normal plot development, he should be chatting with Ai right now.

Or they could use the mat he bought before camping and look at the stars together with Ai.

Unexpectedly, Takagi asked him how to improve the efficiency and accuracy of solving cases...

Please, he's neither a policeman nor a detective, and he has no intention of pursuing either of those professions in the future. Why are you asking him?

Although Kōyū wanted to complain and refuse, he didn't immediately refuse when he saw that Takagi had even taken out a notebook and pen, looking like he could record important points at any time.

At this moment, Takagi was just like those good students, keeping his eyes fixed on the teacher during class, pen in hand, ready to highlight key points at any time, afraid of missing anything.

His attitude was very serious, clearly indicating that he wanted to improve his crime-solving skills and avoid situations like today's where an accident was almost mistaken for murder.

From any perspective, this is a good thing.

However, he's really not in the mood for that right now.

Although he couldn't refuse directly, Guangyou could certainly think of another way.

For example, why not just find someone else to replace him?

The moment the idea popped into Guangyou's mind, he had already decided on the candidate.

I choose you, Conan!

We did it right away.

"Officer Takagi, how about I call Conan over and have him answer you?"

Before Kōsuke could even give his reason, Takagi had already made up one in his head and replied, "If Conan doesn't find it troublesome, I think it's fine."

In past cases, Mitsuyu's involvement rate was indeed lower than Conan's, while Conan frequently demonstrated extremely strong reasoning abilities.

For example, during the Tokyo Tower elevator bombing incident, Conan displayed remarkable abilities and a composure beyond his years.

This made him start to wonder if there might be another soul hiding inside Conan's body.

However, how could such a setting, which only appears in science fiction movies, possibly appear in real life?

It was precisely because of this thought that Takagi dispelled his doubts about Conan and instead felt admiration for him.

To have such reasoning ability at such a young age, and to remain calm in the face of danger, Conan is truly extraordinary!

Although Mitsuyu doesn't seem to like to show off usually, Takagi knows that Mitsuyu might just not want to participate, but he definitely has the ability.

To be honest, both of these kids are better than him in this respect. I wonder if it has anything to do with Mr. Mori's teaching.

Aside from that seemingly improbable possibility, Takagi is more inclined to believe this one:

The two lived at Mr. Mori's house and often followed him to crime scenes, getting involved in various cases. Through this exposure, coupled with their own natural talent, they became familiar with the world of crime.

A favorable environment and innate talent enabled the two to possess reasoning abilities and psychological qualities that surpassed most adults.

After all, if you don't have a strong mentality, your legs might go weak when you see a corpse.

Not to mention getting close enough to examine the body.

Perhaps Mr. Mori would personally instruct the two of them from time to time.

Thinking of this, Takagi sighed inwardly, "Truly worthy of being Mr. Mori!"

...

Achoo!

In the office, Uncle Mori, who was watching TV, suddenly sneezed.

After wiping his nose with a tissue, Uncle Mori frowned and asked himself, "Why did I suddenly sneeze? I don't have a cold."

Just as he was wondering, the noise coming from the television caught his attention.

"The race has begun, and horse number seven is currently in the lead..."

Uncle Mori put his earlier doubts aside, leaned closer to the TV, looked at Horse Number Seven with a tense expression, and muttered to himself.

"You have to win! I've staked my whole week's allowance on you..."

...

He was willing, of course, but it was getting late, and he wondered if Conan was already asleep.

Even if they didn't sleep together, would Conan agree?

When Kōyū learned of his thoughts, he smiled and said, "Conan doesn't go to bed that early. I bet he's reading a mystery novel in his tent right now. He'll probably come."

"I think we should just forget about it. I'll have to leave once the inspector's business is finished." Takagi hesitated for a moment, deciding it was best not to bother Conan.
