Chapter 623 The Bottom Line Must Not Be Broken
“He probably knows, but he must have his own reasons,” Qi Minglin said thoughtfully.
"Damn it, what kind of mess is this?" Zhang Richeng angrily clenched his fist, utterly speechless.
However, he didn't dare disobey his superior, since he still had a mission to complete. If Zhang Ce were to choose between him and Chen Feng to stay in the team, he estimated that Zhang Ce would most likely choose Chen Feng instead of him.
"Damn it, just apologize. I'm doing this for the greater good. Chen Feng, don't be so arrogant now. Just wait and see."
Zhang Richeng comforted himself in his heart, then stood up.
“Tell the leader that I did this all for the sake of our exploration team, otherwise I wouldn’t apologize to him.”
"Yes, I will tell the leader." Qi Minglin nodded with a smile.
Haha, tell the boss? Tell my ass!
The two walked out talking and came up to Chen Feng. The people around them made way for them.
Zhang Richeng took a deep breath and said to Chen Feng, "I'm sorry, I apologize to you. I was too impulsive and shouldn't have scolded you."
"We are all members of the exploration team, and we are all serving the country. I hope you can forgive us and be magnanimous."
“Zhang Richeng, I’ll let this go for the sake of the country. But if there’s a next time, only one of us will stay in the exploration team.” After saying that, Chen Feng crushed his cigarette butt on the ground, stood up and went back to his tent.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Richeng clenched his fists and remained silent.
The group exchanged bewildered glances and then chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
"Alright, it's all over now. Brother Zhang, are you hungry? Shall we go get something to eat?"
"Hey Zhang, have a smoke, this place is really damp."
"That is to say, it's better when it doesn't rain, but once it starts raining, it's like a flood."
After everyone changed the subject, Zhang Richeng's expression improved a bit, and he went to do other things with them.
"Brother Feng, you're really tough on me. You're making me really worried," Li Chunlai whispered to Chen Feng from inside the tent.
"What's there to be afraid of? Now that I've found the mine, I'm a hero. As long as they have any sense, they won't let me leave."
"Moreover, this is not just about saving face; Zhang Richeng is challenging my bottom line."
“If I let this go this time, he will only escalate his actions next time and keep pushing my limits.”
"If others see this, they will follow suit and try to challenge my bottom line."
"In the end, nobody listened to what I said, and nobody took me seriously."
"That's why some company bosses are fearless, while in other companies, when a boss comes, the employees slink away like rats. Do you understand?" Chen Feng explained to him.
"I think I understand now. Holy crap, Brother Feng, you're amazing! You've thought this far ahead!" Li Chunlai was utterly astonished upon hearing this.
He thought Chen Feng simply wanted to vent his anger, but he never expected him to think so far ahead.
"Take a good look at this. Sometimes, fighting isn't just about hitting and killing. Fists can't solve all problems. Most of the time, you have to rely on your brain," Chen Feng said, taking out his phone and casually scrolling through it.
Upon hearing this, Li Chunlai slowly nodded. Following Brother Feng, one can truly learn something.
The day passed in this somewhat awkward atmosphere. It's worth mentioning that a few hours later, Zhang Ce called Qi Minglin to inquire about the situation.
Qi Minglin replied that everything had been resolved and Zhang Richeng had apologized, which put Zhang Ce's mind at ease.
The next morning, after breakfast, everyone started packing their things and headed towards Longfeng Mountain.
When passing through the city, the driver found a place to repair the car. He couldn't afford to take such risks again on this long journey.
To be honest, Chen Feng hates taking long-distance buses because he's always in a state of half-awake, half-asleep while on the bus.
It took them more than two days to finally enter the county town of Longfeng Mountain.
"We're here, Fengzi. What do you want to say?" Li Guanghao gently nudged Chen Feng and asked.
After all, he would have to make the decision on the next exploration plan.
Chen Feng woke up groggily and looked at the somewhat dilapidated city outside.
"Let's find a place to eat first."
Chen Feng answered.
He had two purposes for eating: first, to eat, and second, to take a stroll and see if there were any rare earth mines in the city. Although he felt the chances were slim, he still had to try to find out.
"Let me see if there's anything to eat around here." The driver slowly drove forward, looking left and right at the nearby shops.
"Alright, driver, stop the car. I've been sitting for so long, my legs are so stiff I can't even stretch them out. Let's all get out and walk around," Chen Feng said.
"That's fine, just wait while I park the car."
The driver pulled over to the side of the road and several people got out.
“If they want to come, they can come; if they don’t, they can wait in the car. We’ll find a good spot and then tell them,” Chen Feng said to Qi Minglin.
"Okay, I'll tell them." Qi Minglin notified them in the group chat, and the group walked forward.
Everyone looked around at the street scene with curiosity. It really did look like a fourth-tier county town, with many elderly people selling vegetables on the roadside.
Various shouts filled the air, though now they're all electronic loudspeakers, and nobody shouts anymore.
As Chen Feng walked, he used the system to search, but after walking several streets, he found nothing.
"Hey, there's a mutton hot pot place over here, let's eat there." Qi Minglin saw a mutton hot pot restaurant and pointed to it with enthusiasm.
“That works too. Should we tell them to come as well?” Li Guanghao asked.
"This shop can't hold that many people. Forget it, let them eat whatever they want and find their own food," Qi Minglin said, peeking out and then simply waving her hand.
"Haha, they were waiting for you, but then suddenly some bad news came, and now you have to find your own food," Li Chunlai laughed.
"Well, there's nothing we can do about it. Plans can't keep up with changes." Qi Minglin led the way into the restaurant and ordered a large mutton hot pot.
Although the place is remote and the hygiene conditions are not very good, the food is good, especially the mutton, which was highly praised by everyone who ate there.
"It's too soupy to pack up properly, otherwise I would have packed it up myself," Qi Minglin said, wiping her mouth with a tissue.
Li Chunlai reached in with his chopsticks and found there was almost nothing left. He asked in bewilderment, "Sister, there's nothing left, so why are you packing up the leftover soup?"
"It would be nice to keep it for making noodles too," Qi Minglin said regretfully.
"We're not really going into the deep mountains and forests yet, so we don't need to be so frugal," Li Chunlai said with a laugh.
