After finishing his sentence, Wen Zinan quickly went downstairs and left.
Ying Qian found it strange; why was her new deskmate saying so much for no reason?
As soon as I stepped out of the teaching building, I heard a commotion from the science class, and the students all rushed out at the same time.
Ying Qian overheard people discussing it.
"Did the sun rise in the west today? Those unlucky bastards from the science class actually left school with us! How strange!"
"It's probably because it's Friday today. That idiot principal, having evening self-study on Fridays! Damn! The science students must be going crazy by now."
She turned around, and after confirming that they had left school, she stopped in her tracks.
Just then, Gu Xinan, who was strolling out of the restroom, glanced at the science student next to him who was almost going crazy, and then turned his gaze to the most inconspicuous girl in the crowd.
She was wearing her school uniform, her ponytail tied low, a faint smile on her lips, and her bright eyes, like the morning star in the night sky.
Gu Xinan pursed his lips, avoided her, and went around to the back building.
"Why didn't you leave?" Chen Wenzhi walked quickly over to her when he saw her. Seeing her flushed face, he raised his hand and stroked her cheek. "Were you waiting for me?"
"Aren't you staying at school tonight either?" Ying Qian whispered, snuggling against him.
"Yeah, I have a dinner party tonight." He put his arm around Ying Qian's shoulder, his warm breath rising up in her face.
"It's so cold," she complained.
"It's cold and you're only wearing so little." Chen Wenzhi sighed, took off his coat and put it on her. "The temperature difference between day and night is so big, you should be more careful."
He was only wearing a single layer of clothing.
On the way home, a cold wind blew, and the leaves of the sycamore trees fell in a rustling sound.
Two people walked side by side under the streetlights.
“Gu Xinan is back,” Ying Qian suddenly said.
Chen Wenzhi snorted coldly and glanced at Ying Qian, who was deep in thought: "So what if she's back?"
"I just wanted to tell you!" She took Chen Wenzhi's hand, her eyes firm, and said, "Don't worry, Gu Xinan will never shake your place in my heart!"
Chen Wenzhi shook his head helplessly, his brows furrowing slightly. "I didn't mean to be jealous, I just..."
He swallowed his words halfway through, his ears turning red.
Ying Qian: "Why are your ears red?"
Chen Wenzhi's eyes darted away, and he hurriedly made up an excuse to cover it up: "It's too windy and cold tonight!"
The science students seem to be quite tired lately, as they're busy with the joint entrance exams.
Throughout the journey, Chen Wenzhi didn't mention a word about the exams or the pain of endless classes. Instead, he asked Ying Qian, "A lot of people have been sick these past few days. Are you alright?"
"It's fine." She kept smiling. "But what about you guys? You're all working yourselves to death every day. What if you ruin your health?" As she spoke, her hand tightened silently.
"If only I had chosen science back then, I could have stayed with you."
"Fool." Chen Wenzhi suddenly smiled mockingly.
"Chen Wenzhi, I'm being serious, okay? What are you laughing at?" She shook his hand. "I really want to share both good times and bad times with you!"
Chen Wenzhi pursed his lips, his dark, deep eyes revealing surprise. So that's what she was thinking?
“Ying Qian, what I’m thinking is, you enjoy the good times, and I’ll take the blame for the bad times…” he said earnestly.
This statement won't cause any trouble.
But Ying Qian's heart was already churning with emotions. From the moment they confirmed their relationship, the storm in her heart had never subsided.
His brows were mostly furrowed with fatigue, but at this moment, they held a greater sense of seriousness and sincerity. He always seemed to be like this, expressing his true feelings with an earnest attitude.
"Yeah, that works too," Ying Qian replied nonchalantly.
"Mmm." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the corners of her lips carefully curving upwards.
Sometimes, a relationship needs a few sweet words, but what's even more important is that both people treat the relationship with sincerity.
"If you had chosen the science track because of me, I would definitely feel guilty now."
"Why?"
"Based on my understanding of your physical condition, the intense academic life in the science class is putting a lot of pressure on you right now, so you'll probably be running between the hospital and school."
"You know about high intensity..." Ying Qian suddenly remembered something and used it as an opportunity to criticize him, "Have you not eaten breakfast for the past two days?"
"...How did you know?"
Ying Qian snorted and crossed her arms. "Guess how I knew?"
"You science students are so busy all day long, and you have to concentrate. You're either taking exams or on your way to take exams. How come you don't even eat breakfast? Don't think that just because you're healthy now, you're fine. What if you collapse later?" She looked pitiful.
He was stunned.
Ying Qian added, "What should I do?"
"I understand, I will definitely eat breakfast every day from now on," Chen Wenzhi promised.
Unbeknownst to him, his eyes held a newfound tenderness and affection.

Upon arriving at the entrance of the residential area, Ying Qian saw Meng Beiyan. He was dressed neatly in a shirt, his expression normal, standing under the streetlight looking at his phone. It seemed that nothing special had happened today. For no reason, Ying Qian frowned.
Chen Wenzhi didn't react in any particular way. "Let's go."
Ying Qian obediently walked forward, while Chen Wenzhi changed direction and went home through another door.
"Brother," she called out.
Meng Beiyan looked up, a smile appearing on his face. "Are you tired?"
"Hmm, I'm quite tired. Is there anything special going on tonight?" she asked.
Seeing the faint sadness gradually appear on his face, Ying Qian's heart skipped a beat, and she hurriedly asked, "What's wrong? Can you stop keeping me in suspense?"
“Grandpa is sick,” he said.
"My grandfather?"
In Ying Qian's memory, the old man had always been in good health. Although the younger generation in the family were not very filial, the two of them had been together for so many years without any problems. How could something have suddenly happened to him?
"Yes, they were just transferred to the Central Hospital this morning. Your father said he was busy with work, so your aunt from out of town has been taking care of them."
Hearing this, Ying Qian was not surprised, after all, he was a notorious ingrate.
Before she could roll her eyes a few more times, Meng Beiyan pulled her into the car.
"What illness does Grandpa have?" Ying Qian twisted her neck. "Brother, don't get too involved in these matters."
She thought Meng Beiyan would think she was too cold-blooded and heartless, but to her surprise, he just nodded and said, "I know, but your aunt contacted my dad. My dad is busy with work, so he asked me to go instead. Actually, I should have gone this morning, but I needed to go and find out about the defense attorney's matter this morning."
"Then why bring me along?" Ying Qian turned to look at the night view outside the window. "Apart from the year I came out of the orphanage, I haven't had any contact with them."
"I know you're under a lot of pressure at school, so I wanted to give you a couple of days off."
"But I have exams tomorrow and the day after!" she said quickly.
Meng Beiyan said casually, "It depends on you. It's just a small weekly exercise, and I don't think it's that important. Of course, if you want to go back to school, just let me know."
