Chapter 61 Anger

Liu Anran recalled the time when she and Yunlong encountered the mutated rat king. Yunlong, who was usually well-behaved and sensible, cried out in fear. He then angrily carved on another tree, "Chu Yunxiao, you irresponsible, untrustworthy scoundrel, Yunlong and I hate you."

After carving the characters, Liu Anran took out a red gauze scarf and tied it to the tree branch.

She knew that Chu Yunxiao would eventually come down to the bottom of the cliff to put his mind at ease, and she wondered how he would feel when he saw the words she had carved.

Liu Anran looked around at her surroundings. In front of her was a dried-up ditch, surrounded by mountains. This must be what they call being surrounded by mountains on all sides!

Looking up at the cliff above, it was so high and difficult to climb, so she decided to lead Yunlong along the ditch.

Liu Anran walked behind a secluded grove of trees and entered the space.

Yunlong asked Liu Anran, who had just entered the space, "Mom, what are you doing coming out of the space?"

"I'll go out and check out the terrain," Liu Anran said.

Yunlong asked nervously, "Are there monsters outside?"

"Of course not." Liu Anran smiled and looked at Yunlong: "What, Yunlong, are you afraid of monsters?"

Yunlong answered truthfully, "I'm afraid."

“The monster is a mutated rat. Once you cultivate the Concentration Technique, you can kill it with a single palm strike. In this world, humans are the most powerful. You shouldn’t be afraid of an animal; you should find a way to defeat it,” Liu Anran said.

Seeing that Liu Anran's expression was normal and she didn't seem afraid of the monster at all, Yunlong asked curiously, "Mom, what are you most afraid of?"

Liu Anran said, "Human hearts are unpredictable. What Mom is most afraid of is human nature. You'll understand when you grow up. Now let's go wash up and then go to sleep."

...

next day

Liu Anran cooked vegetable porridge and made about twenty rice balls. After breakfast, Liu Anran shouldered her backpack and took Yunlong out of the space.

As soon as Yunlong emerged from the space, he was stunned by the erotic scene before him. So many mountains, so many trees! He exclaimed, "Mom, the mountains are so high!"

“We are at the foot of the mountain now, and our view is blocked, which is why the mountain seems so high and magnificent,” Liu Anran said.

Yunlong said "Oh," realizing that they had been standing too low. He suddenly remembered that they had been driving on the highway to escape for their lives. How did they end up at the foot of the mountain?

"Mom, how did we get to the foot of the mountain? And we can't see the road. How did you drive here? And where's our car? Where's the car?"

Liu Anran awkwardly touched her nose. Yunlong didn't ask, and she didn't plan to tell him about the car accident, but who knew that this kid would suddenly remember it.

Liu Anran avoided looking at Yunlong and said somewhat guiltily, "I was driving too fast, and the car flew off the road and crashed off a cliff."

Yunlong was stunned. If he fell off the highway and was injured, wouldn't that be a car accident?

After a while, Yunlong came to his senses and asked, "Where's the car?"

Liu Anran was too embarrassed to look at Yunlong, so she pointed and said, "Over there, see for yourself?"

Yunlong looked in the direction Liu Anran was pointing, his eyes wide with shock. Could that still be considered a car?

If there's no space, wouldn't they be smashed into a pulp?

"Mom, you shouldn't drive anymore," Yunlong said, still shaken.

Liu Anran smiled. Even if she wanted to drive, there were no cars for her to drive!

"Mom, we're surrounded by mountains, there's not a single road. What are we going to do now?" Yunlong asked, worried.

“The cliff is too high for us to climb. Let’s follow this ditch; maybe we can find a way out,” Liu Anran said.

Yunlong looked at his short legs, wondering how long it would take before he could finally walk out!

Liu Anran laughed when she saw Yunlong's utterly dejected look!

"Yunlong, don't worry, we have food and supplies in our space. Besides, this is the middle of nowhere, and there's no one around. If we get hungry, tired, or encounter danger, we can just go into our space."

Upon hearing this, Yunlong's face showed a relieved expression.

That's right! There's no one in the mountains, so he and his mother can enter the space anytime, anywhere. There's plenty of food inside, and if they run out, they can grow their own. It doesn't matter if they can't get out!

Liu Anran took a machete, chopped two tree branches, removed the leaves, and handed a branch about the size of a thumb to Yunlong.

Yunlong asked, puzzled, "Mom, why did you give me a tree branch?"

Liu Anran waved the wooden stick in her hand and explained, "In the morning, there will be dew on the grass and trees, which will wet our clothes. We need to walk along and use the stick to hit the branches and grass in front of us so that the dew will fall to the ground and our clothes will not get wet so easily. It can also serve as a way to scare away any snakes."

Yunlong asked, "What does 'beating the grass to scare the snake' mean?"

Liu Anran: "In the mountains, there are many poisonous insects and snakes, especially snakes. We often encounter snakes and even step on them. If we are bitten by a venomous snake, the consequences are unimaginable. We use sticks to beat the grass, and the snakes hiding in the grass will jump out. We can spot them in time and avoid them, so we won't step on the snakes hiding in the grass and get bitten."

Yunlong asked somewhat fearfully, "Will I die if I'm bitten by a poisonous snake?"

Liu Anran replied, "Yes."

Yunlong's face turned pale. He was afraid of being bitten by a poisonous snake and didn't want to die.

Liu Anran patted Yunlong's head and said softly, "Let's go! Mom is here, Mom will protect you."

Liu Anran walked in front, and Yunlong followed behind, walking eastward along the river.

Yunlong followed Liu Anran cautiously, one foot higher than the other. As they walked, he listened to the clear and melodious birdsong coming from the mountain. For a moment, he forgot his fear and said with a smile, "Mom, the birdsong is so beautiful."

Liu Anran smiled. This kid still has the leisure to listen to birds singing.

Yunlong walked and walked until he could no longer walk. He said breathlessly, "Mom, I can't walk anymore."

Liu Anran turned to look at Yunlong and saw that he was sweating profusely, panting, and had two cuts on his face from thorns, but thankfully there was no bleeding.

Liu Anran pulled Yunlong to sit down on a large blue stone, took out a towel to wipe his sweat, and when she saw that his trouser legs were wet, she helped him change his clothes.

"Yunlong, you walked for about half an hour today, which is very good. Go into your space and rest! If you're hungry, eat rice balls and fruit."

Yunlong asked, "Mom, don't you need me to stay with you?"

"No need, you've walked with Mom for a long time, you should rest."

Liu Anran only wanted Yunlong to have some training, and she was already very satisfied that Yunlong could persevere for so long.

Liu Anran sent Yunlong into her spatial dimension, drank a couple of sips of water, picked up her wooden stick, and continued walking forward.

Looking at the desolate, uninhabited mountain, Liu Anran felt a chill run down her spine. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going, her foot slipped, and she fell forward, landing on the ground.

Liu Anran's chin hit the ground, and she groaned in pain, feeling as if all the bones in her body had fallen apart.

Holy crap! How can my luck be so bad? I even trip over while walking.

She was about to get up from the ground when she looked up and saw a cobra about three feet away from her. Terrified, she lay flat on the ground, too scared to move.

Liu Anran stared at the cobra, about two meters long, a brownish-black cobra with its head raised, its red tongue sticking out, and its golden eyes gleaming with a cold, eerie light, fixed intently on her.

Cobras are ferocious by nature and are the king of snakes. A bite from one can cause weakness in the limbs and difficulty breathing. Without timely treatment, one can suffocate or die from heart failure. They are venomous snakes that inspire fear and dread. How could she have encountered one today?

Holy crap! How could she be so unlucky!
