Liu Anran led Yunlong out of the space. As soon as Yunlong saw the black dog, he screamed in fright and immediately hid behind Liu Anran, crying out in panic, "Mommy, dog!"
Liu Anran shouted at the black dog, "You damn black dog, shut up! If you bark again, I'll beat you to death and eat your flesh!" As she spoke, she picked up a wooden stick from the ground and swung it a few times at the black dog in a threatening manner.
The black dog tucked its tail between its legs and took a few steps back, snorted a few times through its nose, and then lay down on the ground looking at her with a wronged expression in its eyes.
Liu Anran found it somewhat amusing and retorted, "What are you complaining about?!"
The black dog rested its chin on the ground, looked at Liu Anran, and wagged its tail a few times.
Yunlong stepped out from behind Liu Anran and looked at the black dog, saying, "Mom, the black dog doesn't seem that scary."
Liu Anran patted Yunlong's head. "Dogs guard homes and property for humans. As long as you don't provoke them, they won't bite you on their own."
When Yunlong saw the dog, he thought of Uncle Wang, who lived with him, and how Uncle Wang's arm had been bitten by his dog and bled. He said with lingering fear, "But Uncle Wang was bitten by his pet dog and had to go to the hospital for a shot."
Liu Anran doesn't own a pet dog, but her family had a local dog when she was a child. That dog never bit its owner, and it would only bark a few times in protest when passersby walked by the door.
Just as Liu Anran was about to speak, she heard Chu Yunxiao's voice, "Yunlong, Yunlong, Anran, Liu Anran."
Holy crap! How did Chu Yunxiao find us so quickly?!
Yunlong exclaimed in surprise, "Dad, it's Dad!" He then shouted back, "Dad, Dad, Mom and I are here!"
Chu Yunxiao's voice rang out again from halfway up the mountain, "Yunlong, Anran, I have finally found you."
Standing on the mountaintop, Liu Anran watched Chu Yunxiao struggling to climb towards the summit, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Her rationality kept her away from Chu Yunxiao, but her emotions wanted to give Chu Yunxiao a chance and give Yunlong a complete family, so she left clues for Chu Yunxiao.
"Dad, climb faster!" Yunlong shouted to Chu Yunxiao.
Chu Yunxiao, slightly out of breath, replied loudly, "Okay, Dad will try to be as fast as possible."
As Liu Anran watched Chu Yunxiao's figure getting closer and closer, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.
That damned man, at least he has a conscience; he found her and Yunlong in just four days, faster than she had imagined.
When Chu Yunxiao reached the top of the mountain and saw Liu Anran and Yunlong standing alive in front of him, his anxious heart finally settled down.
Yunlong happily rushed towards Chu Yunxiao, hugged his leg, looked up at Chu Yunxiao, and said with a smile, "Dad, you've finally come to find us."
"Dad, I miss you so much."
"Dad misses you too." Chu Yunxiao said, bending down to pick up Yunlong, then looked at Liu Anran and extended his right hand to her.
Liu Anran stepped forward and hugged Chu Tianxiao's waist. Chu Tianxiao buried his face in Liu Anran's neck and whispered, "Liu Anran, you are such a heartless woman. If I hadn't come to find you, would you have hidden from me for the rest of your life?"
Liu Anran truthfully stated, "It's possible for half a lifetime, but impossible for a lifetime."
Chu Yunxiao raised his head and stared at Liu Anran, asking, "Anran, do you hate me?"
Liu Anran recalled how Yunlong cried loudly in fear and said sadly, "You promised me that you would protect me and Yunlong, but you didn't appear when Yunlong and I were most helpless. You broke your promise."
Chu Yunxiao knew that no matter what he said now, he couldn't undo the harm done to Liu Anran and Yunlong, so he could only say guiltily, "I'm sorry!"
"Woof woof..." the black dog barked wildly again.
Liu Anran and Chu Yunxiao both looked at the black dog, which was baring its teeth and barking incessantly at a female zombie.
“You female zombie crawled out of a pile,” Liu Anran said.
"You mean dead people can turn into zombies?" Chu Yunxiao asked in surprise.
Looking at the female zombie, Liu Anran said, "When I saw her, she was struggling to crawl out of the grave. That grave was new; the zombie virus must have broken out right after she was buried."
"I also encountered a zombie wearing a new shroud, so I personally believe that only people who have been dead for a few days have the potential to become zombies."
Yunlong watched the zombies walking towards them and threw a lightning ball the size of a thumb at the female zombie. The female zombie didn't even pause and continued walking towards them.
Yunlong stared at his hand in astonishment. Why could his father casually flick a lightning ball and smash a zombie's head open, but he couldn't do the same?
Liu Anran saw vines at the female zombie's feet, activated her wood-type ability, and controlled the vines to wrap around the female zombie's feet. She then said to Yunlong, "Now you can fire lightning balls to your heart's content."
Chu Yunxiao put Yunlong on the ground and let Yunlong practice his superpowers in front of the female zombie.
Liu Anran pulled Chu Yunxiao up to sit on a flat, large blue stone, took out a glass of water and handed it to Chu Yunxiao, "Are you thirsty? Drink some water first, then eat."
Chu Yunxiao was indeed thirsty, so he took the cup and drank the water in a few big gulps.
"Are you hungry?" Liu Anran asked, taking the cup from her.
Chu Yunxiao replied naturally, "I'm hungry."
Liu Anran took out a bowl of white rice from her spatial storage and handed it to Chu Yunxiao. She also took out a bowl of snake meat and a bowl of stir-fried green beans with garlic, placed them on the large blue stone, and said softly, "Eat quickly if you're hungry!"
Chu Yunxiao didn't ask anything, picked up a piece of snake meat and put it in his mouth to eat, while the black dog squatted to the side watching and drooling.
Chu Yunxiao threw the bone at the black dog's feet, and the black dog picked it up and ate it.
Liu Anran took out a small bowl, filled it with snake soup, and placed it in front of Chu Yunxiao. "Yunxiao, drink some snake soup."
Chu Yunxiao took a sip of snake soup and asked curiously, "Where did the snake meat come from?"
“I killed a cobra that weighs seven or eight pounds, and there’s still a lot of snake meat left. If you like it, I’ll cook it for you again tonight,” Liu Anran replied.
Chu Yunxiao looked at Liu Anran in disbelief, "You even dare to kill poisonous snakes, aren't you afraid of being bitten?"
“I was scared! But Yunlong and I were both craving meat, and in the end, the desire to eat meat outweighed the fear, so I mustered up my courage and killed the cobra.” Liu Anran said, looking at the black dog. “Originally, I also wanted to kill this black dog and eat it, but when I saw that it was a little bit cute, I mercifully let it go.”
Chu Yunxiao felt a pang of sadness upon hearing this.
After Chu Yunxiao finished eating, Liu Anran put the bowls and chopsticks into her spatial storage, then took out a towel and wiped the corners of Chu Yunxiao's mouth. Seeing that he had grown stubble, dark circles under his eyes, and had lost weight, she felt sorry for him and touched his face.
Chu Yunxiao lowered his eyes and gazed at Liu Anran's beautiful face. He took Liu Anran's hand, kissed it gently, and then placed her hand on his chest, a smile of joy at having regained what he had lost.
Only after finding Liu Anran and Yunlong did his anxious heart calm down.
