Li Yao and Tan Xinxin's family had dinner in their three-courtyard house and agreed to visit Old Tan the next day.
During the meal, Li Yao used her spiritual power to observe the Tan family. Their eyes were resolute and their demeanor magnanimous, indicating they were good people. When discussing the past, they showed no evasiveness, only some remorse. Therefore, Li Yao decided to personally visit Old Man Tan the next day.
Old Tan was a soldier and an elderly man, so the gift Li Yao prepared was a century-old ginseng that could be bought in this world, along with some tea and Moutai that could be purchased at the Friendship Store.
These are all things that money can buy. For Li Yao's age, living in such a large courtyard, these things are not too outrageous. It just shows that she values this visit.
The following morning, Li Yao took her things to the military compound and ran into Tan Xinxin, who was sitting in the duty room, at the gate.
Seeing Li Yao approach, she quickly ran over and said, "You've finally arrived! My grandfather ordered me to come and wait for you right after breakfast this morning, afraid you'd be stopped at the door and wouldn't be able to get in."
Li Yao laughed and said, "Look at what you're saying, we've already made plans, how could I not come?"
Then Li Yao had her ID checked and was registered before entering the compound with Tan Xinxin.
The Tan family members were all employed, so they were allocated a two-story villa, which was quite spacious.
When Li Yao entered the house, she found it filled with people, all staring at her. Li Yao was surprised, but she braced herself and followed Tan Xinxin into the house.
Seeing that Li Yao was uncomfortable, Tan Xinxin quickly explained, "Yao Yao, it's a family tradition to all come to Grandpa's house for dinner on weekends, so there are a lot of people."
Next, Tan Xinxin introduced herself to Li Yao. Inside the house were Tan Xinxin's eldest and second uncles and their families, as well as her twin brother and four cousins.
After Li Yao greeted everyone with a smile, Tan's mother accepted the gifts from Li Yao's hands with a smile, saying that she was a junior and the gifts she brought were too expensive.
Li Yao smiled and said it was only right to visit since it was her first time.
She glanced around and saw that everyone in the room seemed quite curious about Li Yao. However, Tan Xinxin's cousins were all incredibly handsome, each over 180cm tall, a testament to the family's strong genes.
After chatting for a while, Mrs. Tan took Li Yao to Mr. Tan's study.
Here, Li Yao met a serious and dignified old man.
When Li Yao entered the room and saw her face, Grandpa Tan excitedly exclaimed, "She looks so much like her! So much like her!"
Li Yao greeted the old man with a smile.
The old man said, "Her name is Yao Yao, right? She looks exactly like your mother when she was young, and she also resembles your maternal grandmother."
Li Yao chatted with Grandpa Tan about her current life, telling him that she had gone to Hong Kong Island, earned some money, and was doing quite well.
Grandpa Tan repeatedly said that Li Yao had suffered a lot and that she should come to his house more often in the future, treat him like her own grandfather, and be sure to talk to him if she had any problems.
When Grandpa Tan said these things, Li Yao sensed through her spiritual power that he was sincere, and decided to take better care of the old man in the future.
Finally, Grandpa Tan handed Li Yao a box containing the deed and keys to her maternal grandparents' old house, a five-courtyard house, as well as some booklets recording calligraphy and paintings.
Li Yao glanced at them and saw that several of them were marked with the words "Tang" and "Song".
She thanked Mr. Tan sincerely and learned from him that the incident that happened to her maternal grandparents' family was reported by one of their students at Peking University.
That family later got close to the Wang family, and despite pressure from the Tan family, they still managed to get an editor position at a publishing house in Kyoto.
Li Yao asked for his name and address, and told Mr. Tan not to worry about it, as she would handle it.
