Chapter 45: The Zombie King's Cook

Chapter 45: The Zombie King's Cook

"Hiss!" The half-human, half-zombie's mouth split open, half showing flesh and blood, the other half revealing yellowed bones. Nanjiao tightened the cane in his hand, causing the half-human, half-zombie to cry out in pain again.

"Gaha!" Gaha showed no weakness and protected Song Yuqing.

Song Yuqing carefully examined the half-human, half-zombie creature. From its half-human face, he recognized Chen Ke's appearance: the loyal servant who had followed Lin Han, the poor creature taken away by the Golden-Eyed Zombie King. Perhaps the Golden-Eyed Zombie King hadn't eaten Chen Ke, but had instead assimilated him for some purpose?

"Chen Ke? Are you still alive?" Although he felt that the word "alive" was not accurate, Song Yuqing could not find any other alternative word.

The half-human, half-zombie creature was obviously even more agitated, struggling desperately to pounce on Song Yuqing.

"Do you know it? Who is it?" Nanjiao used vines to tie the half-human, half-zombie corpse into a dumpling, and turned around to listen to Song Yuqing's story.

Song Yuqing was about to speak when a sharp pigeon whistle rang out from the window. The half-human, half-zombie shifted in fear at the sound of the whistle. Nanjiao subconsciously tightened the vines, but the half-human, half-zombie suddenly erupted with tremendous strength, breaking through the vines and breaking them into several sections.

Nanjiao and Gaha reacted immediately and rushed forward, but the half-human, half-zombie turned around and escaped through the window without looking back, leaving Song Yuqing, Gaha and Nanjiao looking at each other in bewilderment.

"Damn it, it got away!"

"Chase!" Song Yuqing turned and ran out the door, with Gaha following closely behind.

Nanjiao looked reluctantly at the electronic debris scattered all over the floor of the Internet cafe, sighed deeply, and followed him out.

The internet cafe was on the second floor. When Song Yuqing and the others chased downstairs, the half-human, half-zombie figure had already disappeared. Nanjiao saw this and was about to go back into the internet cafe to search for something, but Gaha stopped him.

Gaha sniffed hard and pointed across the street. Song Yuqing and Nanjiao both realized that Gaha could smell the lingering scent of the half-human, half-zombie creature on the street, and they chased in the direction Gaha pointed. After walking about a thousand meters, Gaha stopped in a deserted park.

Cuckoo—cuckoo—

In the southwest corner of the park, there is a dead forest with white objects hanging on it. From a distance, it looks like snow.

Cuckoo—cuckoo—

The white layer covering the dead branches was startled and turned into hundreds of white doves, flying up in a mess.

"Wow!!!" Nanjiao shouted excitedly, causing Gaha and Song Yuqing to look at him with disgust.

"Have you never seen a flock of pigeons?"

"You don't know! Pigeon, a natural doomsday delivery man!"

Base Zero is training a group of mutant pigeons to serve as messengers, and the results are pretty good!

"If we tame these pigeons, the Doomsday Online Shopping Platform will be operational soon!" Nanjiao felt that he was too lucky today. The problems that were originally in front of him were solved one by one. First, the signal base Chinese tallow tree, and then the pigeon deliveryman, all came without any effort.

Song Yuqing frowned. Nanjiao's attention was always easily distracted, which was really annoying.

"Gaha, was the Nanjiao you knew before also like this, going here and there?" Song Yuqing turned his head and asked Gaha.

Gaha was stunned for a moment, and the scene of Nanjiao and her practicing martial arts seriously and attentively flashed through her mind.

Before Gaha's head even began to shake, Nanjiao started shouting, "Catch the pigeons!" These pigeons were indeed mutants, and with a little taming, they could become obedient servants, dedicated to serving humans. However, when they gathered together, they resembled a self-contained mass of white snow, charming and harmless. But when they dispersed, they were like a hailstorm, ready to rain down hard droppings that would pelt you on the head.

"Boss Song, it's time for you to show off your skills!" Nanjiao said, spreading a giant vine net into the sky, trapping the pigeons in it. "Quickly, collect them in your space!"

The space ability users at Base Zero have developed their own system for training pigeons under the guidance of experts. Regardless of whether Song Yuqing is willing or not, Nanjiao has decided to pass on the experience he has witnessed to Song Yuqing.

Before Song Yuqing could react, a half-human, half-zombie appeared out of nowhere, leaping into the air. It used its sharp nails to cut through the vine net and covered the pigeons that had flown out of the net with a hemp bag. A pigeon emerged from the bag, barely flapping its wings when the half-human, half-zombie bit its head and threw it back into the bag, bloodied.

Song Yuqing, Gaha and Nanjiao were all stunned, especially when they saw the half-human, half-zombie creature that still had a human form.

At Nanjiao's urging, Song Yuqing forced himself to summon his spatial abilities, gathering the pigeons still trapped in the vine net. For a moment, the quiet space was overrun by the pigeons, who flew about in a chaotic frenzy. Song Yuqing, unable to focus on disciplining the pigeons, rushed forward with Nanjiao and Gaha, chasing the half-human, half-zombie creature carrying the sack.

Gaha activated his shadowless kick and followed closely behind the half-human, half-zombie, while Song Yuqing and Nanjiao followed at a distance. They ran into a complex alley with countless forks in the road. In a moment of carelessness, Song Yuqing and Nanjiao lost sight of Gaha and the half-human, half-zombie.

While Song Yuqing and Nanjiao were gasping for breath due to intense running, Gaha, whose face scratches were recovering, came out from the alley behind them, took their hands, and tiptoed to a dog hole at the bottom of the wall of a dead end.

Song Yuqing and Nanjiao tacitly agreed not to say anything, quietly following Gaha's lead. After emerging from the dog hole, they arrived at a gloomy vegetable market, the ground covered in wet mucus and black, unidentified objects.

The fishy and rotten smells hit Song Yuqing together, making him feel nauseous and almost vomiting.

"Hush!" Nanjiao raised his index finger, his eyes gazing at the market. Suddenly, Gaha reached out and pressed Nanjiao and Song Yuqing's heads down, and the three of them hid under a stone table in the market.

Song Yuqing felt something small wriggling under his foot. Lifting his foot, he saw a white maggot the size of a lighter crawling slowly. Song Yuqing couldn't help but step back, wishing he could throw his shoes away right there. Seeing this, Gaha poked Nanjiao's arm. Nanjiao understood, and despite his nausea, he sprouted a thin vine from his fingertip, which flung the maggot away. Finally, Nanjiao broke off the tip of the vine that had touched the maggot and discarded it.

"Hiss!"

“Hiss…”

Song Yuqing quietly poked half of his face out and looked in the direction of the sound. He saw Chen Ke with his back to him, pulling a dying pigeon from his sack and seemingly plucking its feathers. Two golden-eyed zombie kings hunched their backs, staring intently at Chen Ke, or perhaps at the pigeon in his hands.

Song Yuqing thought that with Gaha and Nanjiao's strength, they should be able to defeat the two high-level zombies and then capture Chen Ke for interrogation. Song Yuqing looked at Gaha, who shook his head at that moment. Gaha could sense that the two golden-eyed zombies were far more powerful than him, and he could only outsmart them, not fight them head-on.
