Ye Qingyan angrily slammed her hand on the table.
Zhen Tian quickly said, "Teacher, we would like to ask for leave. I want to go to Yuan Yuan's house to visit."
Without waiting for the teacher's permission, she grabbed Ye Qingyan and ran away.
Yang Tian was too late to stop them, so he could only shout from behind, "Be careful!"
He sighed. What a mess this is.
After leaving the school, the two rushed to Yuan Yuan's house. Ye Qingyan called Yuan Yuan the whole way, but no one answered.
Zhen Tian ran upstairs in one breath, leaning on her knees and panting heavily, while Ye Qingyan rang the doorbell of Yuan Yuan's house.
I pressed the button for a full ten minutes, but no one responded.
Ye Qingyan started knocking on the door: "Yuan Yuan, come out here, Yuan Yuan!"
"Yuanyuan, are you there?" Zhen Tian also called out inside. One of them peeked through the peephole, while the other peered through the crack in the door, listening for any sounds.
"Yuanyuan! Yuanyuan!"
The two became increasingly anxious.
In the end, the people on the other side were driven out by the noise.
"Children, stop shouting. That child left with their things this morning."
"Auntie, did she say when she'll be back?" Zhen Tian turned around and asked anxiously.
"She didn't say, but it looks like she's not coming back. I saw the plane ticket in her hand."
"Airline tickets!" Ye Qingyan exclaimed.
"Um."
After saying that, the aunt across the hall closed the door and went home.
Where would she go with the plane ticket?
"I don't know!" Zhen Tian's eyes gradually welled up with tears.
Ye Qingyan sniffed as well: "If I find out where she is, I'll definitely beat her up. Why did she leave without saying anything?"
She stomped her feet on the ground a few times, yelling, "Ugh, ugh! I'm so angry!"
"What should we do?" Zhen Tian pouted, tears welling up in her eyes. "Was she too heartbroken to leave?"
"I guess so." Ye Qingyan was also exhausted, and the two of them squatted on the stairs, secretly wiping away tears.
"Will I never see her again in the future..." Zhen Tian wiped her eyes.
"Who knows?" Ye Qingyan vigorously wiped her face, pulled Zhen Tian to her feet, and said, "Come on, let's go ask her aunt."
"But we don't have any contact information."
"The police station definitely has them!"
After a long day of running around, they did indeed meet Ye Qingyan's aunt.
In a dilapidated building.
"It's you. Come in quickly," Aunt Yuanyuan greeted the two.
"Auntie, we've come to ask if you know where Yuanyuan went," Ye Qingyan said anxiously.
“Yuan Yuan guessed right.” The aunt poured them both a glass of water and smiled. “That child guessed you would come back to find me. She’s been smart since she was little, just like her mother.”
Aunt's eyes welled up with tears: "What am I saying? Yuan Yuan went abroad, but I don't know exactly where. She's always been very opinionated, and she won't tell me even when I ask her. She just says that her former homeroom teacher has a friend abroad who will help her."
"Oh, right, she said she left a letter for you at home, you should go back and check it. That's all I know."
"At home?"
"Yes, didn't you take her to live with us before? Auntie is so grateful to you, if it weren't for you..." The aunt wiped away her moist eyes again, "It's so good to have friends like you."
Having received the answer, the two hurriedly returned to the Zhen family home.
"Hey? Why so early? What do you want to eat tonight?" Lu Ti asked with a smile as she opened the door and saw the two children.
But the two of them acted as if they didn't see her, bypassing Lu Ti and heading straight for the room.
"What's the rush?" Lu Ti closed the door, completely bewildered.
As soon as they entered the room, the two of them rummaged through drawers and cabinets looking for the letter that the aunt had mentioned.
Finally, under the blanket, they found a file folder.
The bag contained a lot of things.
One document is the property ownership certificate, and the other is a power of attorney. The remaining piece of paper should be the letter.
[Sweetie, Qingyan. I never imagined that after a month of deliberation, my final choice would be to leave. By the time you learn of this letter from your aunt, I should already be gone. I'm leaving without saying goodbye because I can no longer bear the pain of separation. My parents' passing hit me hard; I had countless thoughts of going to them, but because you were there for me, trying your best to make me laugh, I stood up again. I don't know what the future holds, or if I'll ever return to this city, but I know very well that knowing you two in these past ten years has been a very happy thing.]
My parents left me a large sum of money, enough for me to live in any country. So don't worry about me. The property deed in the envelope is for the place you visited; please ask my uncle and aunt to help me sell it. Keep the money for me after it's sold. I can pay them back if I ever return.
[I don't want to write too much anymore, that's all. I'm probably going to a new country to start a new life. Whether we ever meet again or not, I hope you can all be happier than I am. —Yuan Yuan.]
The ending, though only a few hundred words long and without any particularly sentimental lines, still brought tears to the eyes of the two girls.
Even though Yuanyuan didn't say it, they knew that Yuanyuan left because she couldn't accept the loss of her parents and wanted to escape from here.
"That brat, she left so easily, leaving us here crying like idiots." Ye Qingyan cried uncontrollably, wiping away her tears as she cursed her.
“We were all forced to go abroad, but she just left on her own.”
"If you had told us earlier, we could have gone together."
"You brat!"
Ye Qingyan muttered to herself.
Zhen Tian read the letter over and over again, and she realized that what Yuan Yuan said on the day she left her home was strange; his tone was the same as when Zhi Zhi left.
"What's wrong with my two darlings?" Lu Ti pushed open the door and saw her two children lying on the bed crying.
When Zhen Tian saw her mother come in, she called out, "Mom!" and then rushed over to her.
"Okay, okay, don't cry, don't cry."
While comforting Zhen Tian, Lu Ti also patted Ye Qingyan's head.
When the two were crying so hard they could hardly breathe, she finally spoke up to stop them: "Okay, stop crying now, tell Mom what happened."
Zhen Tian grabbed Ye Qingyan's clothes and handed her Yuan Yuan's letter.
Lu Ti held the paper, her expression shifting from confusion to astonishment.
"This child!" After reading the whole thing, she didn't know whether to be angry at Yuan Yuan's audacity or happy about the child's courage.
"Mom, Yuanyuan is gone, she's never coming back. Why didn't she tell me she was sad?" Zhen Tian looked up at her mother with teary eyes, seeking help.
Lu Ti didn't know how to comfort the two children. She thought for a moment before speaking.
“Some sadness can’t be expressed in writing. Yuan Yuan has come to terms with it and is going to leave to start a new life. As her friends, you should support her and pray that she can be happy.”
